Basic Info on Reservations?

Is there a thread with the basic info regarding making reservations??

I am new to this whole Disney thing and now know there is a whole culture around it! It is a bit daunting actually.

If I make reservations - and there is free dining offered later - can I change payment option? So I need to get the dining plan now in order to make reservations and can I change that to free dining if it is offered later?

We are going (Me, DH, MIL, DD 3 1/2, DS 10 months) for 2 or 3 days in February. My understanding is that some reservations I need to make 180 days out. That would be coming soon.

I want to do the Cinderella Royal Table (is one meal better than the others? We were thinking breakfast.) and possibly Akershus. Are there other character meals I should consider?

My daughter loves Belle, Cinderella, Tinkerbell and Mulan.

Any thoughts?

You do not need the dining plan to book reservations. The credit card is needed for Cinderellas Royal Table- you will get credit back if you use the dining plan. If free dining is added for that time, you can add it to your reservation, but you dont have to add dining now. I always book my September reservation without dining, then when they announce free dining, they add it, and the price never changes- so no credit is needed if its paid in full.
