Haven't used the Disney bus system but have read snippets about it. Could someone let me know the ins and outs.
From what I've read you can only take the bus from DTD to a resort and not directly to a park ???
You cannot take a bus directly from one resort to another resort. You have to change buses at a park. ??
Can you take a bus directly from one park to another without changing buses at resort ?
Can you take a bus directly from a water park to one of the main parks without having to change buses at a resort ? (If some of us wanted to leave the water park earlier than the rest, is there a bus that goes to MK, AK, DHS and/ or Epcot without having to go to a resort and change buses ? )

That's correct. Too many people were using the free parking at DTD, then going to the parks from there and not leaving enough spaces for DTD patrons. As a result, Disney stopped running bus service between the parks and DTD. You need to get from a park to a resort to get to DTD. You also can bus to SSR, get off at the Congress Park internal stop and take a short walk to DTD from there.

There is no direct resort-to-resort transportation--other than using the monorail to travel between the CR, Poly and GF, boats that serve the Poly and GF, a boat that connects the CR and WL/FW, and boats connecting the Epcot resorts--so you do need to get to a park or to DTD to use the bus service to go from resort to resort in most cases. The best park to use varies depending on where you are coming from and going to. DTD usually only makes sense as a transfer point if all of the parks are closed.

There are direct buses between Epcot and DHS, Epcot and AK, DHS and AK, AK and the MK, and DHS and the MK. Getting between Epcot and the MK involves ferry or monorail transport between the MK and TTC, and taking the Epcot monorail between the TTC and Epcot.

This one I'm not sure about.

Thanks very much for the info. :thumbsup2
Glad you can go between parks without having to change.

Water parks - not usually. Buses that leave resorts and go to Downtown Disney also then proceed to Typhoon Lagoon when it's open. These buses then generally go on to another resort, not a park. Most buses that leave resorts for Animal Kingdom also stop at Blizzard Beach, first. So on Blizzard Beach days, members of your party who want to go to AK, can.

Water Parks:

Typhoon Lagoon - No bus transportation to/from any park

Blizzard Beach - Partially. Buses run to/from AK/Epcot and Studios
