Baseball Pictures 2007

I doubt I'll get to fenway this year so I thought I'd share some pics of my little Red Sox star. T-ball was the motivation for me to get a dslr, and I'm loving it. I figure there are many years of sports ahead of me to capture on film.

Well, if you won't be getting to Fenway, here are some more Fenway shots I took:

Also, I'm glad to see we have an allstar down there in "a" ball (lower case on purpose!)

Thanks. I'm glad to hear you like them and I hope that you can make it to the Fens!

thanks, Woj68. I've been experimenting with HDR for a few weeks now and Fenway always seems to be the best subject for them! There are always so many colors and if you can get out on a day with good clouds, it makes them so much better.

Really nice contrast with the clouds. They really make the photo pop!

Great job. :thumbsup2

Yeah, HDR does some amazing things with clouds. The fact that the sun was setting and giving the sky some nice colors made it perfect I think.

Loving the Baseball shots!!!

I just spent a week in Cooperstown for the national 10U tournament!!! A week of baseball and taking pictures - doesn't get any better than that!!!

Cooperstown Dreams Park is nestled in the Catskill mountains (I think that's still the Catskills there...???), and holds 12 weeks of tournaments every summer, one week dedicated to 10U teams. Each team stays in a barracks and has 7 games of pool play and then single elimination playoffs. My son's team went 6-1 in pool play, before ending their week in the 4th round of elimnination play. Woo Hoo, they did GREAT!!! :cool1: There were teams from all over the country, as far away as Hawaii. The kids all brought pins representing their teams/region, and traded amongst each other. Great sportsmanship and commaradery was shown all week!:cloud9:

There are 22 fields at the park, here's a picture of one of those fields, with a nice hill for viewing from the outfield. The setting for the games was gorgeous; what a great week of baseball! We'll be back in 2 years for the 12U tournament!

Here's a few from the opening ceremonies...

We waited in the rain for the closing cermonies for over an hour, then just before they were to begin, the sun came out and we were treated to a beautiful double rainbow...

Here's a single rainbow, using my polarizer...

Maybe I'll get to posting some actual baseball pics soon. First I have 1000 pictures to catelog and burn for all the kids on the team.

Here's one from Friday (Griffey's return to Seattle)

Here are a few:

Is that your boy pitching? He really needs to step straight at where he is throwing... Look at the torque he is putting on his knee :scared1: Take it from someone with a bum knee, that isn't someplace he wants to go.

good catch on the pitcher, ball and batter though :)

Here's our view on June 16, 2007, batting practice for the game against the SF Giants. Monster Seats, Row 2, Section 3. What a way to see the game!

As our Little League regular season winds down here are a few I shot during the year that I thought I might share.

Our fields are completely surrounded by chain link and I was kept back from home plate by the distance of the dugout and a fenced in bullpen/on deck area so all of my pictures this season look like they were taken from the exact same vantage point.... because they were.

Comments & critique appreciated. More where these came from if anyone is interested.

Great shots,

the only thing I could say that is wrong is some of the white pants are blown. but hard to get it right in bright sun like that with dark jerseys

Yup, I blew out the pants for the whole first part of the season.
The dark shirt / new white pants was bad enough, but the location of the sun put the shadow from the brim of the helmet right on their faces.
When I exposed for the face the pants completely went south, expose for the overall scene and the face is in shadow.
Early on I was usually compensating by almost +1 EV. I realize now that was probably too much, but live and learn.

Later in the season as the pants went towards grey (who can keep those things clean?) and the sun changed position it got much easier and I was able to trust my meter. My timing got better too :)

One kid wore grey pants all season and every shot of him was perfect.

I'm amazed at all of these shots! As soon as I upload my pictures from the game, I'll try to post some of Sosa's 600th HR, and some great ones of Wrigley. Man, I love baseball... Great thread! :thumbsup2

Taken over the last 2 days. The league consists of the top collegiate players from around the country. This past MLB draft had 202 former CCBL players taken. Some former players include Barry Zito, Jason Varitek, Thrumon Munson, Mo Vaughn, Mark McGwire, Nomar Garciapparra, Frank Thomas, Jeff Bagwell and many many thousands of others.

Here are a few possible future stars:

I took a little under 200 photos over 2 games on June 30 and July 1. I'll add a few more later. I'm hoping to get to another game next weekend too. It is certainly some great baseball to watch.

Nice pics Kyle! Makes me feel like I was there! Wait a minute, I was there! Anyways, those came out great. Mine, not so great. I did get a couple keepers in the mix but overall, I didn't stop the action very much. That's why I put the camera away after the 3rd inning or so. Also, I have the Mets pitcher as #18 Jason Franzblau from Winthrop. I think you were reading #16 by accident.

Here are a couple of mine:

Andy

Beamer Weems from Baylor on Wareham Gatemen:

Jason Franzblau from Winthrop on Hyannis Mets, during warm-ups. Check out the odd movement of his arm! :scared1: :
