Baseball Pictures 2007

I'm amazed at all of these shots! As soon as I upload my pictures from the game, I'll try to post some of Sosa's 600th HR, and some great ones of Wrigley. Man, I love baseball... Great thread! :thumbsup2

I was at the 600 game. Didn't get any pictures, but it was a truly moving evening & one that I will never forget. Can't wait to see your pictures.

How did you do that??? I would love a picture like that!

Here are a couple of series pictures I have. It is all taken on the same pitch, and I assembled the still image in PhotoShop & animated it with ImageReady. These were taken at the Ballpark in Arlington (man did Verlander do a job on the Rangers that night... ouch).

Also, I have the Mets pitcher as #18 Jason Franzblau from Winthrop. I think you were reading #16 by accident.

Here are a couple of mine:

Jason Franzblau from Winthrop on Hyannis Mets, during warm-ups. Check out the odd movement of his arm! :scared1: :

You are correct. I corrected the name and school.

Nice action shots! I don't even try those. I would most likely get a blur unless it is bright sunlight.

Finally got the pics uploaded from the Red Sox vs Tigers game at Comerica Park in Detroit on July 8. Unfortunately for me, my Sox lost. I will say that Comerica is a great ballpark and I'm glad I was able to go. This brings my MLB parks total to 7. I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to add 3 more in Sept when I have my next vacation. I'm planning on a road trip to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

Anyway, here are a few in game photos:

Gary Sheffield. I think he hit a double on this AB. He did go 3 for 4 with 2 2B and a HR:

Strike 'm out throw 'm out. I think Craig Monroe thought it was ball 4, not strike 3 and just walked into 2nd. Oh well...

Jeff Bailey being congratulated by Julio Lugo after he got his first major league hit, a home run. This was his 2nd game and after being in the minors for 11 years.

Met up with AndrewWG at another CCBL game yesturday. Didn't take as many as I have in the past, but I got a lot more keepers this time. Here are a few better one.

Jeremy Bleich, Stanford University, Pitching for the Wareham Gatemen:

Chris Hicks, Georgia Tech, Wareham's closer. Picked up his 5th save, 2nd most in the league thus far:

OK, here are some of mine. I just got a new camera, so I'm still getting used to it and thought I'd try it out at the game...these are from the Brewers-Rockies game on Saturday.

Here are my pics from yesterday's game (7/18). I was lucky enough to get invited to a sky box with my 2 boys. Unfortunately Bonds didn't play but all was good as the Cubs won 12-1. I'm watching today's game and Bonds just hit his 2nd HR of the game:sad2:

Well, I spent the better part of yesterday at the 2007 Cape Cod Baseball League All Star Game. I took over 350 pics in all with the new 30D. :scared1: I think I need to take it off that high speed shutter one of these days! Anyways, here are some of the good ones.

Andy

First was the home run derby.

Not sure who this is...

2007AllStarGame159.jpg

This is Luke Murton of the Wareham Gatemen. He was the winner with most of his shots going over the bleacher seats and into the parking lot!

The game started with a visit from the USCG!

Then it was game time. I will try to figure out who these players are and update it later.

Ok, here are more from the Cape Cod Baseball League. Kyle and I met up at this game and I don't know about him, but I ended up shooting 265 photos that night! It helped that the light was good for the most part for most of the game.

Andy

Bryan Garrity of U-Mass Amherst:

Anyone else think of Pigpen from Charlie Brown when seeing this one?

I certainly didn't take as many as Andy. Heck with that 30D in continuous mode it almost impossible not to take at least 2 pics every time you press the shutter. Man that thing is FAST. But hey it is 5fps, compared to the 2.5fpc on my D50.

I think I took about 45. Here are the better ones:

The UMP actually called him safe in this next photo. :confused3

Finally got a good stop action on the ball. 1/2000 shutter:

I like the angles from behind home plate. Here's Terry Doyle from Boston College:

I was at Friday's Red Sox - Yankees game (the second longest regular season baseball ever. The longest one was 2 minutes longer!). Anyway, I brought out a new zoom lens and worked on freezing the action. It was tough to do under the lights but a combination of high iso, wide aperture (obviously) and setting the exposerure compensation to shoot one stop down (to increase shutter speed) worked out alright.

I would love to know what you guys think and if you have any further suggestions for shooting under the lights. All these photos are unedited except for crops.

All photos taken from the bleachers. Click on the photo to get to other sizes and EXIF info:

Nice shots Ben.

Here are some of my in-game shots from Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia. Taken at the Phillies/Rockies game on Sept 11.

Got seats a few weeks before hand online at the Phillies web site. Great seats. 23 rows back between home and the Phillies dugout looking straight down the 3rd base line:

Another hit for Todd Helton (he went 3 for 4):

Todd Helton struck out in the 9th and then got tossed for argueing balls and strikes:

Then the Manager and Bench Coach got into it with the 2nd base umpire: I believe both ended up getting tossed.

Phillies Shortstop Jimmy Rollins at bat in the bottom of the 9th. Fans exited early (as you can see from the lack of them in the stands) as the Rockies man handled the Phillies 9-1.

Here are a few shots from the game that ended up being the game after the day the Red Sox clinched the AL East:

I will have at least one more installment for this thread this year. I'll be at game two of the ALCS!

Bring on the Cleveland vs BoSox pics! I would have rather faced the Yankees though...

Sorry to hear that you had to endure that mess. I hope you had a good time anyways. I have modified your photo a bit, just in case Francona takes time out to view this forum!

It certainly was a wreck of a game. I didn't end up with many good pictures as my seats were terrible. I would have had them up earlier today but my head told me I had a little too much of a good time last night, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, I like your variation of that Gagne shot.

Here's what I got to end the season:
