Baseball and Magic! Mar 2014 PTR, Um- make that TWO trips please!

Well, you have to know- we are literally out in the middle of Nowhere, Illinois. This is the closest "Mall" to us- and from where I'm from- it ain't no kinda mall! :rotfl: Sears, Carson and JC Penney's are my only options close by. I really didn't expect to find anything at those places, but it was like God just smiled and said "Here ya go!" when I stepped into the kid's section, because that dress was the FIRST one I saw.

haha I always think I live in the middle of no where until i go to other states and things are LITERALLY in the middle of no where! That dress was so perfect though! I absolutely love the color (i know I said that already lol).

Doesn't it feel good knowing that we have Round 2 answers and video done?

Now, you can get back to trip planning and keep your mind off when we'll hear something next. I'm not too sure how all the Fastpass+ and magic bands work yet but I'm hoping that all of the kinks will be out by the time we get there in May. Maybe I can even learn some tricks and tips from you. :thumbsup2

I know what you mean! I grew up near Atlanta- about an hour north and thought it was SO FAR to everything fun… Except NOW, it's just as far to just get to TARGET!

It does feel good! I'll be good through this week and I'll start to get nervous again next weekend I'm sure! :scratchin

You know, I will tell you ALL I learn! :thumbsup2

Okay, I SWEAR I haven't forgotten about this little PTR! October was just so crazy and it spilled over into November! Sigh!

I have a friend from another forum that is going to be at POFQ the same time and she posted that we only have FOUR months until our trip! I cannot believe that! It just seems so crazy to me!! I can't wait to actually get to meet her and her family! (And I love that when it comes to Disney- THAT is not a weird statement to make about a FRIEND! :rotfl:) I'm also talking to a friend who lives in town and she said that her family may end up going to WDW that week as well! I am so excited about that! How many sentences can I end with the "!" in this paragraph?? haha.

Quickly, lets go over my "Day 2"- I don't think I've done this yet!! :confused3 If I did… well, hopefully my ideas haven't changed! :lmao:

Day 2 (of our "perfect plan") will be in EPCOT!

We'll start the day with a quick breakfast- maybe in the room or grab something from the food court at POR. I guess this boils down to if we fly or drive… If we drive, then we could take milk and cereal with us… I'm going to miss that microwave in the room like we had in our Nemo suite! It was SO nice to have oatmeal in the morning for breakfast on the cooler mornings. If we fly- well, then of course, we'll just grab something!

I'm super excited about this! I know that we would get our FP+ for Soaring- but other than that… who knows? My idea is that we will spend the morning in Future World. I think there is plenty there for us to do that we have missed or skipped over. I know that we will hang out in the Land for a while- gotta take the girls to see those giant lemons and learn the history of farming! I also want to go on Test Track this trip! I was so upset on our last trip that it was shut down, because in 2010, I was prego! It's just not fair that I haven't gotten to ride it! We will also make sure to check out the Seas- LOVE Nemo and Crush! I want to make sure to take Catie into the Innoventions area as well. We didn't do any of that last year- I'm not sure why. :confused3 I know that Catie will enjoy those science experiments- do they still let you make paper? I think she would LOVE that!

This trip, I want to commit to the character spot! We always seem to skip this- but I really want to try and get in there. We also have to go and test the new sodas in the Club Cool!

I'm not sure what we will do for Lunch… We will likely to a QS- but WHERE?? I know we like Sunshine Seasons, but I kinda want to try something new! We haven't been to the Electric Umbrella- I know my husband would love the Meatball sub, but nothing else really "speaks" to me on the menu… I know we would LOVE the Cantina- but we have Mexican places all around us. I would like the Yorkshire Fish and Chips- but I don't know if that would be cool with my husband! Anyone have any "Must have" QS here???

I know, I have shared, but we have Dinner ressies at Teppan Edo for 6:30!! I'm SO excited about this! We LOVE Japanese food- and we don't have any options around us! It will be amazing, I know!

Hi Christen! I've fallen hopelessly behind - so sorry!

Oh doesn't it make a mama's heart melt to see your little princess! Honestly, she was so adorable and that dress was beeeuuutiful!

As for your day 2 park plans I do think there's plenty to keep anyone busy between the Land and the Seas and Innoventions alone - not to mention the Character spot.

For your QS meal have you considered a sandwich or something similar at the French Bakery (Les Halles) or Norway's Kringla Og Bakeri. At the French bakery there are quiches as well so a few options. I'm not a fan of Electric Umbrella so I won't steer you in that direction.

Wow! 4 months! Time is moving so fast. :)

Brenda! OOhh… I just looked at the Menu for Les Halles! I think that might work out well, because I LOVED the Lobster Bisque from Les Chefs. I think that may be a perfect QS for us!

We interrupt this PTR for an important PLANNING announcement! :rotfl:

I am EVER grateful for the Disboards, because I saw on another thread about March travelers being able to customize their MBs… and so I jumped on over to the MDE page and click, click, click!

I'm so excited!!!

Cortlyn helped me pick out the colors for everyone. We are both disappointed that there isn't a purple option for me. That is my favorite color, so of course, that is what I would rather have. And apparently, I only have 85 days to change my mind! :lmao: So, while Red may be my pick today, next week I can change my mind! :rolleyes1

The color options- in case you are interested are Red, Green, Pink, Blue, Orange, Gray and Yellow. :thumbsup2

Yay magic bands! I think they should have purple! They can get rid of the ugly orange! I used them this past week and I found them very easy to use. I liked that I didn't have to carry anything. This came in VERY handy when running the marathon! No KTTW card to have to worry about!

wooohoooo

I'm a little concerned about having to carry it honestly. I HATE wearing bracelets, so this is a big inconvenience for me! I like the lanyard!

Okay, well, I got my "No" email from the Mom's Panel. No… I'm okay. I am totally bummed, but it's all for the best! Corey's graduating that same weekend as the training- so this is a good thing for my family! There is always next year! ::yes::

Yay Magic Bands! At least, I guess Yay! I've heard good things and some not so good things about them. Hopefully, all the kinks, knots and whatnots will be worked out by the time you arrive. :thumbsup2

I was talking about the magic bands the other day and I have no idea what color I'm going to pick. I'm super picky about my "stuff" matching and wear bracelets almost every day even in Disney. If I have on an orange magic band and a pink shirt, I'm going to be freakin' out!:rotfl:

I know- I'm really trying to have a good attitude about the bands, because they aren't going away and I'm going to just have to get over it all anyway. I've got my concerns, but I'll be ready to give good feedback in case they ask me any questions about it! And of course, I'll be able to help you out with them when I get back as well! :thumbsup2

OMG! I feel the same way about matching!!! :goodvibes But, since I don't like wearing bracelets very much anyway, the thing will likely be in a pocket of a bag somewhere! :p

I feel like I should put that out there in case anyone reading is interested and I'm taking a while to get to Wednesday in my trip!! Excuse the out of order posts!!

Ya'll! It's been a YEAR since I left the WDW! I can't believe that! How is it possible that it's been a full YEAR?!?!!?! March can't come fast enough now! Actually, one year ago today, we were in EPCOT, but still! Thanksgiving is so late this year. I have three sets of friends that are either on their way or just arrived at Disney to spend the Holiday there. I wish I could join them. ::yes:: If you want- my Trip Report from that trip is in my Siggy.

I am going to try and get one more post about planning in today! I'll be back! :thumbsup2

So, Day number 3 will be Hollywood Studios!!! WOOHOO!! :cool1:

I saw somewhere that this park is sometimes referred to as "TPFKATD-MGMS." Really? :crazy2: I know, I loved MGM and it's been hard to change the name- but that is some hardcore dedication to the old name! (Translation: The PArk Formerly Known As The Disney's MGM Studios" I think I got it right….)

I'll be honest. This is the day that I'm seriously thinking about switching around a bit. I'll go ahead and give you my "for now plans" and then fill some of the "maybes" I have rolling around in my brain for this day!

Right now, we have a reservation at Hollywood and Vine for 8:05 Breakfast. I'm happy with that- the food was very good. Classic breakfast spread and the character interaction was really good. I would like to see them bring in some of the newer Disney Junior characters. Sofia, Doc, Henry Hugglemonster, one of the Octonauts? They have several shows to pick from. I LOVE the Little Einstein's and of course, Handy Manny- but I just think they could have a few more in the rotation! ::yes:: My MAIN motivation for this reservation is so we're IN the park before opening so we could score FP's for Toy Story Mania. Which is VERY important. (You see what I'm thinking here, right? ;) ) Of course, we'd grab FP's for TSM and possibly ride if the wait isn't crazy when we get out.

As far as lunch or dinner, I know we will hit the ABC commissary for one of them. I know this place gets a bad rap, but we've always enjoyed our meals here. It's really crowded, but, it's tasty! I also know that we will be going BACK to Starring Rolls for some YUMMY treats! I still have dreams about that delicious peanut butter and Butterfinger cupcake from last year! I'm sorry… let me wipe up my drool off the laptop here!

So, back to rides! I think Corey and I will split up with the girls a little bit, since Cortlyn and I like our rides and Catie is a bit small for the big ones! Of course, we will be doing "ride swap" to ride the Star Tours ride! Other "Must do's" for our Hollywood Studios day include:

*Little Mermaid Show- I LOVE this show! The trick is making sure you aren't too close to the doors when they open up, because then you won't be in the middle of the seating area!
*Disney Junior Show- I know both of my girls love this show.
*Rock n Roller Coaster- Can't wait to take Cortlyn on this! I hope that she is feeling brave about this ride. I know that she will enjoy it, but I also know that sometimes she just gets scared for no "good" reason!
*Tower of Terror- This is one that I'm on the fence about with Cortlyn. I know Corey isn't really interested in riding it- I wish that I could ride WITH him, but with the girls, I know thats not an option.
*Honey I shrunk the Kids Playground- Catie LOVED playing back here and I'm SURE she will have to have some playtime back here!
*Osborne Family Lights----- WHAT?? That won't be going on?? Sobbing… It's okay… Sniffle.. I get it…… blowing nose… it's just…

Okay, so I've recovered from remembering that I will NOT be there during the holidays…

With the whole "Fastpass+" rolling out, there is a lot of up in the air about how I could plan my day. I don't know what system for picking rides FP's I will have to pick from. I feel like this could change a lot of how this day will go for us in the end.

Let's move on to the Maybe's of the day!

So, since I won't *have* to fight for the Toy Story Mania FP, then making sure I'm in early for a FP isn't as big of a deal. Which means, I could change it up and book a lunch or a dinner… And last I checked, Fantasmic is showing at 8:30- which would be like 7:30 for us. Catie goes to bed at 7cst, so I know we'd be staying up past her bedtime. I have NEVER seen Fantasmic- but I'm thinking since it's a seated show, it may be an easier show for us to watch with the girls. I should probably check into the Dining options for the Fantasmic show. I honestly haven't done much research on it. I'm not sure where we would eat- but then again, we COULD go have dinner at some resort as well- I'm not committed to the idea of Fantasmic. I'm just thinking outloud… err… thinking while typing, I guess? I dunno… haha

There is one other thing I'm considering for this day. See… We are staying at Port Orleans, and I've heard that they do a Pirate Cruise from their dock. Cortlyn LOVES Pirates and I think she would really enjoy the cruise, but the only days that they do them are on Tuesday and Thursdays. And this day would be Tuesday for us. So… We could have to switch everything around anyway and have our "break day" be on Tuesday and then have our Hollywood Studios day be on Wednesday?! According to Touring Plans, Wednesday has HS listed as a Park to Avoid. I don't put a LOT of stock in that, but… it's something to consider.

So, as with everything else about this trip- I haven't made any FIRM plans for this day! What is it about this trip?:confused3 I'm fairly sure that no matter what, everything will fall into place perfectly in the end!

I totally understand your delima. I basically have not planned days or anything for our trip. and part of it is because of MDE. I just don't know how it will work then. I should probably start thinking of which days we will do what though and get a started plan.

I don't even now half the characters you mentioned...we are out of the playhouse Disney phase and I am not keeping up. It's hard to believe at one time we were breathing playhouse Disney. :rotfl2: I now have mature almost 9 year old....who is so over those shows (though every so often I see her sneak in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.)

It's hard to plan right now with this stuff hanging over my head! Like, I know what I "want" but I want to know how to make it WORK!!! :confused3 That's totally different! I'm sure it's even harder for you, since you are staying off property this trip!

They have some really cute shows out right now! They are really building the Disney Junior brand and I LOVE it! I can see Cortlyn enjoying it for several more years, thanks to having a little sister! :thumbsup2

I understand your MGM/DHS issues. I often use both names. I am having a similar issue with the FP+ and planning. I have written down all the park hours for my Feb trip. I have to say though the FP+ DID help me get a lot of things done much sooner than I normally would have. Of course this could also be because I was solo a couple weeks ago and crowds were mild. I am sitting down with the friend I am going with on Friday and we are gonna come up with our plan most likely based on park hours. I just hope i can make her FP+ reservations. Im an AP holder and she doesn't have tickets. So I am not sure how this will work yet. I think she is gonna buy them at the Disney Store using discounted gift cards from Target and Costco. I did manage to snag a BOG reservation! Not an ideal time 4:55 pm, but my friend is so excited. She had to cancel her trip due to her father passing right after the world series and had a reservation at BOG.

I'm hoping I can secure one of those FP's for BOG lunch. I'm not willing to give up park time to wait there and I'm not really wanting to book another dinner there. We'll see what is an option for March! 4:55 would be a tough time for our family, since that it would be 3:55 our home time! But at least you are getting in the door- right? :thumbsup2

Ha ha! The park formerly known as ..... perfect!

I have no clue as to the Disney Jr. characters since they came out after Em was older. However, I may just be able to point out Handy Manny. ;)

Definitely FP for TSMM is in order if you will already be in the park before rope drop.

You haven't seen Fantasmic yet?? Go and see it! The girls should like all the princess characters that are in the show.

Happy anniversary day of last being in WDW! :flower3:
