I'm going to Disney in June( We like to plan ahead) and my wife and I were wondering if there were any specific bars that are preffered. We are going alone before my wife has our baby. We have been there before but kids came along with us so we never got to relax at a bar. It would be great if you could reply ASAP! Thanks!!!!

I'm also interested in a good bar where you can have a drink in the evening. Especially I like to go to a bar where they play live music.
Any options?

Marcel.

There are a lot of good bars at WDW! Pleasure Island is full of bars each with a different theme and music or comedy. The Adventurers Club and the Comedy Club are my favorites. PI does require seperate admission though. The resorts all have nice bars/lounges also. At GF you can hear piano music, POR has a great comedian--Bob, the lounge at CG has great drinks, appetizers and unbelieveable views, the bar at the Boardwalk has old fashioned radio music, board games and a great boardwalk view, the bar at YC has a relaxing atmosphere and big screen tv, then of course there is ESPN on the boardwalk, Jellyrolls also a seperate admission has a wonderful dueling piano act, the bar at CS used to have music at night but I have not seen any entertainers there my past few trips, POFQ also had a musical group but not sure if that is still there either, the bar at the Poly does not have music but the drinks are great, you can hear all the fun and music from O'Hana which is next door and you can walk on the beach which is beautiful especially if you catch MK fireworks and the electrical water parade. The list could go on, all the resorts have bars and they are all very nice. The value resort bars are not much but moderate & deluxe resort bars are all nice. Then you have the bars at the parks which are also fun. My favorites are the pub in GB, the bar at AK (with very good African music and dancing), the lounge in Japan, the bar at Prime Time Cafe and the bar at Brown Derby (if you can catch them open! ) Enjoy!!

Thanks for the help! It should be a lot of help to us on our trip! I have heard of Plesure Island but never have had time to check it out. Any must sees you could suggest?

Thanks

My PERSONAL favorite is Jellyrolls at the BW :)

Denise < --- goin' next month with 9 kids, so we'll have to skip it for once ;)

If you are into sports and due not mind smoke ESPN on the BW has a bar side. But, if you want to relax have a few drinks and some munchies then we enjoy the Crew's Cup Lounge at the YC.

In addition to the others already mentioned, Big River Grille on the Boardwalk is a good choice for beer--they have their own Microbrews--very welcome after a steady dose of the "usual suspects" at many of the other bars and lounges.

The Cotton Co-Op at POR has a wonderful entertainer. We go, curl up by the fireplace and watch him. We also have tried Mizner's lounge at GF. It is right behind the band so we could enjoy them as well.

I think it depends on your ages and the type of bars you like. PI has a little bit of everything: high energy dance club, jazz club, rock&roll bar with live bands, 8trax is a retro bar(really cool), also a comedy club, not sure if the country & western place is still open? just next door, at DD west side is the house of blues. all the resorts have some sort of lounge,,they tend to be a little more laid back(think typical hotel lounge). Beware, drinking at disney is quite expensive, but they're are plenty of places to choose from.

Part of the appeal of most of these bars is their location. If you are at the Boardwalk, or Boardwalk area hotel then head over to the Boardwalk. ESPN is good, and in the early evening they usually have a terrific trivia contest (sports related), often they have a sports figure for a guest. I was there 2 weeks ago and sat next to Joe Buck (FOX TV sports announcer), shook Joe Namath's hand, peed next to Scotty Bowman!!, and got Peter Bondra's aoutograph, all from 1/29-2/2!!

Then go to Jellyrolls, great time.
Early night night cap, Boardwalk Lounge Bar, Swan Lobby Bar.

This area really is fun, I love getting my drink on here, thats why we bought the DVC at Boardwalk!

Bob

my favorite bar is the Crewscup at the YC. The service is great & they have a good selection of wine & beers. You can also order appetizers there. they usually have sports on the TV.
Another is the bar at the BW, the name is escaping me right now. they have board games and old radio show playing. they also have a really nice outdoor terrace overlooking the BW.

Marcel: This may not qualify for live music, but Kimonos at the Swan is a hoot! they have Kareoke every night! way fun! They alos serve sushi until midnight.

Then, per men's room unwritten rules, I'm guessing you didn't shake Scotty Bowman's hand????

Well, our favorite bar was taken over by a Bear in a Big Blue House... it was the Catwalk Bar, and it was over the Soundstage Restaurant, to the side of the Brown Derby... but since the Bear, and then Playhouse Disney took over the Soundstage restaurant, the bar has been closed. I do understand, however that it is still intact, and completely set up, so I hope they move the Playhouse crew and give us our nice little hideaway back.

As for current bars

We like 'Ohana for a nice tropical drink

For drinks with entertainment, you can't go wrong with the River Roast Lounge at PO-R. The piano player is amazing!

For a tropical drink in a pool setting, we like the Banana Cabana at CBR.

The bar at Rose and Crown used to be one of our favorites, but the service has been a bit slow lately.

Hope this helps!

Don't forget Atlantic Dance at the Boardwalk!

No cover, live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and the building is gorgeous!!

ADH opens at 9 pm Tuesday-Saturday. If you can get there when it opens, be sure to watch Illuminations off of the balcony -- great view over the lake.

Wednesday nights are cast nights (as of Jan. 15), so they can get busy but generally it's very relaxed and a fun place.

(Brian, the bartender, also makes the best drinks on property!!)

One more comment on PI--if you sneak into Westside before 7:00 p.m., you do not need to pay admission to PI; however, you cannot enter the respective clubs until you pay admission. You can, however, enjoy the live entertainment on the Westside stage. Last week, this was the 80z All-Stars, an 80's cover band from San Diego. It was a hoot! You can buy drinks from the outdoor kiosks and enjoy the show all night.

Hi,

Thank you all for replying on this topic. For sure I will check out the Boardwalk area and will order one of the special beers.
I also would like to check out Pleasure Island, at least for one night.

Do you know if this is possible? : First pay for one night admission price at PI, and after that changing the one night admission to an annual pass for PI?
At this time I don't know very much about PI and would not pay for an annual pass before I'v visited the place. If it feels good Its possible that I like to come back more times, and then an annual pass is the best option for that. OK, I can buy a Premium annual pass, but its cheaper to buy an normal annual pass and a separate PI annual pass.
For sure I don't visit Disneyquist and I will do just one waterpark during my stay, maybe two.

Marcel.

As a general rule, once a one visit ticket has been used, it becomes worth $0 for an upgrade. You might be able to make some sort of deal with the ticket agent. It is always worth a try.

There really is just about every type of environmet in PI that you can think about. It would probably be in your best interest to just go ahead and by the annual pass.

On another note, I did not remember seeing The Outer Rim mentioned. It is one of my favorite palces to just sit back and relax. It doesn't hurt that the CR is my favorite resort.

Well, I love 8trax (hence my name hehe). It can be really fun with all the retro music. I think on Thursdays they play 80s.

Offsite, at Universal's City Walk is Jimmy Buffets Margarittaville which i recommend going too. It totally has the tropical, relax, and have fun feel to it. Im a big Buffet fan and they have a gift shop, play his music, and there are live bands there and food. It's a fun atmosphere.;)

A vote here for the Rose & Crown at Epcot. Great English Pub atmosphere and my all-time favorite brew, Tennants Lager, being poured in the pic below.
