Bare Minerals

I've tried alternatives like Everyday minerals, and I hated them. I know it's more, but IMO stick w/ the real thing!

I have used Bare Minerals, Everyday Minerals, and Ulta Minerals which all seem to be about the same to me. Ulta Minerals is my makeup of choice now and when I ordered last week they were giving a $65 set with your order. And they are about half the price of Bare Minerals. Ulta is a great place to get what you need and if you do not like it just take it back before 30 days is up.

Another Everyday Minerals user- I love it! I've tried BM and EM, and they were virtually the same to me. EM is so much more reasonably priced that I use it exclusively. I love the blush and eye shadow colors.

Thanks for all the replies. I LOVE my BM and I have two of the kits, with the fabulous brushes. I'm interested in getting more (of course), but I'm always looking for a deal. I will have to look into the other brands (at least for eyeshadow and possibly blush).

Thanks again!

Everyday Minerals has an awesome eyeshadow kit- 10 small shadows for $18 (and it comes with a shadow brush, too). They have some beautiful shades- and for that price, you can afford to get quite a few. Since a little goes a long way, they will last a long time.

Can any EM users tell me what color to order?? I use medium in BE, ordered medium in EM in the sample kit and it's too light!

THANKS!

I'm not sure which color to tell you, but I wanted to let you know that they recently re-did their website and the makeup colors are *much* more accurately represented now. And if that doesn't help, I can vouch for their assistance in customer service. I was confused on a color too (before the website revamp) and I emailed them. The rep who wrote me back was really helpful, and suggested a shade for me. She was dead-on. (I use the multi-tasking color of base, the same shade as the concealer.)

I'm glad you brought this thread back up -- you reminded me that I just ran out of finishing dust this morning!! :) Good luck in choosing a color that's right for you!

I am a BE junkie I'm afraid. At the time I started I had to invest heavily in all of the brushes etc as they had no 'starter kits' like they do now.

At the present time I am on the autoship plan thru BE. Normally I don't go thru it quite as fast as most people evidently and its normally enough to keep myself, daughter & ds's g.f. going between the light & fairly light we receive. Every once in awhile we'll have to buy an additional one. I have ordered things frequently from eBay sellers - as long as they are new and sealed. I also sell extra things like the extra mineral veil etc when I end up with more than what I will use (only one of the girls uses m.v. & then only sometimes). I also normally subscribe when they have one of their quarterly package shipments on QVC - again keeping what I like & reselling the rest or giving it to one of the girls.

If you have a good friend or someone who you can share with - buy an eye color you both like & split it. I purchased a bunch of small empty pots & some round sticker labels. When we get a new eye color I save the normal size pot & put some in each of 3 small pots for each of us. That also saves us if we drop or spill from wasting so much. I think the only eye color we have actually run out of is City Lights, LOL. Makes it easier for packing & traveling too and less expensive if luggage is lost.

And yes, one of my friends did itch immensely from it, but she is the only one I have encountered with this problem. Nothing is perfect for every person but I swear by it.

I use BE and love it. But I have not tried the Everyday Minerals, so thanks for the heads up about the sample kit. I just ordered it. The shipping is $3.97.

My hair salon sells Jane Airdale mineral makeup, which I tried. But I didn't see much difference over the BE and it was more expensive. If you get one of the kits on QVC of the BE, especially if it is the today's special, you can get a good deal and a good sample of products. I would just steer clear of any of the mineral brands they sell in the drugstores. I tried one and it was terrible (and not that cheap either).

Having tried and worn both EM and BM, I went out on a limb and bought Loreal's mineral makeup at the drug store and loved it ever better than the others!! It was $7.00 for a large container on sale.

I saw that on sale and even had a coupon but didn't try it. Now I wish I had. So do you use the brush that comes with it or another.

Do any of you use a primer when you use your mineral makeup? If so which one is best?

I'm a huge fan of Everyday Minerals too, but I just can't figure out how to use mineral eyeshadow - any brand. I get it on too heavy, or I flick it all over my face, or it looks blotchy. What am I doing wrong? I have a small and a medium eyeshadow brush, plus I got an eyeliner brush from EM which doesn't do anything but get stuff in my eyes - LOL.

I have been wanting to try BM, but thanks to this thread, I think I'll try the EM for starters.

Do you just use the foundation and that's it? I am really clueless about all of this stuff you guys are talking about!

Also, any color recommendations for a redhead with fair skin and freckles? How the heck do I know if I have pink, beige, golden or yellow undertones??

Just wanted to make you guys aware of something I just learned. I always order my BM from Sephora and when I first tried it, I was under the impression I wouldn't be able to return it if I didn't like it, so I was taking a huge risk. Anyway, i ordered something non BM related from Sephora (skincare) and I hated it, so I returned it via the postage paid sticker and put that the product was not as expectd on the return slip ( a selection you can choose as a return code). Anyway, they not only refunded the entire amount paid but they refunded the shipping too!

So if you want to try BM but arent' sure if you'll like it, try it from Sephora.com and if you hate it, you can return it and you're out 0 dollars!

I love Sephora.

BTW, don't waste your time with the multi-tasking minerals...doesn't cover anything up any better than the foundation.
