Barbie finds her Prince Charming- our English wedding & Disneymoon June 2011!

Looks like you had a great day out in London and score on the Uniqlo purchases. Love the scarf and the prices are just really good. Did you see the Mickey hoodies?

We are defo decided on 25th June 2011, have prebooked the registrar, just need to wait a little while before declaring it over here.

Yeah for the last week of June weddings! My DH and I got married June 29th 1986!:hippie:

Yes June weddings are popular aren't they :) Did you know I was born just under a month after your wedding!

You were born while we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii :rotfl2: Thanks.... now I feel like your mum!! A Dis mum!:lmao:  It was a great year.... during my engagement year, The Duke and Duchess of York were engaged and Diana and Charles had been married just a few years before, and it really set the style tone for weddings on both sides of the Atlantic!

1986 does sound like a great year. I remember seeing pictures of Diana's wedding later on, what a grand wedding that was, she looked so demure and beautiful.

Since we are in the USA, we had to get up in the middle of the night to watch Diana and Charles' wedding on the "new" cable TV. I believe Emma said we're 5 hours earlier. It was so exciting. An interesting thing I discovered too. A tiny detail. I used to build doll houses as a hobby. It got expensive so I haven't built any new ones in years. But I had bought a tiny TV set for my dollhouse and I was surprised when I recognized the scene on the TV was Charles & Diana's wedding. I still have that dollhouse TV somewhere. I have a lot of doll houses, and the one the TV was in was huge. I don't have a place for it to be set up anymore, so it is in the garage in a big wooden crate. Its been crated up since the mid 90'. Someday, probably after DD21 moves out with her husband (when he returns from Iraq), I will have room downstairs for it. I'll re-set it up. DD7 has never seen it.

Anyone seen Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, its an old musical and is one of my favourite films, there's a song about all the months to get married and the june bride is the winner!

emma, loved your purchases in London! and cool hidden mickey's for the select few on the save the date cards!:goodvibes

world cup tomorro...are you excited or sad at losing DF for the next month? have you any idea if the world cup will be shown inside the disney theme parks at all?

I would expect it would at least be show on the ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk! LOL I was going to say call and ask... but.. you're overseas. If I remember to call tomorrow.... I will call and ask for you and post. :wizard:

Thank you!

Ok... I just called the ESPN club at the boardwalk. They will be showing World Club Soccer. She said England is playing tomorrow. She advised to get there about an hour earlier than game time so you can be sure to get in to the see game you want to see. They don't take reservations. I checked out the menu. I will definitely be going there for lunch in August. Their menu is quite good and the grilled vegetable sandwich sounds great! :cheer2:

Hi everyone!

Lol yes I have 'lost' DF to the football (soccer) for the next month.. right now he is watching Uruguay vs France - on our brand new tv (apparently the old one just 'wasn't big enough' :confused3 !).. and we just upgraded our Sky package to include the HD channels - he is soo happy, I must admit though, I can't see the difference in the High Def channels!! :rolleyes1

I think I read on the Disney Parks blog that the World Cup matches will be shown at the ESPN club on the Boardwalk and also at the Wide World of Sports grill.. there's a special all-you-can-eat buffet while each game is on!

I only really watch the England games.. tomorrow will be tough for me because I love the USA.. but must be patriotic to my own country and support the English team ;) !

December trip update coming up soon! ...

When I called, the lady (coach) didn't say anything to me about the all-you-can-eat buffet!!!! She was holding out!!

I think its cute they call their wait staff coaches!:cheer2:

Oh wow thats pretty cool to have that on the mini tv set :teeth: and what a lovely hobby building doll houses. I used to build dolls rooms from old shoe boxes when I was little. Was so much fun and its surprising what you can use from household stuff to make little beds and chairs etc with :)

I feel for you, but apparently now is the best time to ask our men anything I am told, they will be so focused on the game they will say yes to anything

Have fun watching the game today, I think we are venturing out to the pub to watch it too.

OMG.. you are not kidding about the doll house stuff. I've made cakes from sliced dowel sticks with globby paint for frosting. I made tiny cherries and donuts from clay. I once carefully carved wooden sticks to make window blinds and made lamp shades from the old style toothpaste caps. In the US, the caps don't come off anymore and they're really big... so that won't work. I made a Christmas room in a wooden box with a glass front for my MIL. She puts it out every holiday. It has a tiny Christmas tree with decorations and presents.

My DH doesn't watch sports on TV. Its amazes me how, when he does, he knows all the intricate details... but normally doesn't watch it. He is more into watching that horrible corny Dr. Who  and stuff like that.

Mindy that's quite funny you mention Dolls Houses... I have one too! :goodvibes
My Dad and I built it together when I was about 11 years old.. it's a 5 storey Georgian style house.. about 5ft tall!
It's in my garage now, no where to put it in our house at the moment... I have all the furniture packed away too, I used to make little food and things out of 'Fimo' (craft plasticine that goes hard when baked).. one day I'll get all the boxes out and look through it!!

Wedding Update Photographer

Today we went to meet a potential photographer for our wedding day!
He is recommended by the venue and does a special offer of 8 hours for the price of 5 :goodvibes
We looked through some of his different album styles and asked some questions (like - where can we take the group photos if it's pouring with rain?!)
He seemed really nice and prices are within our budget for photographer... we'll definitely keep him in mind!

Can't wait to hear what you think about the photographer! That's one vendor that I really need to contact ASAP - I'm pretty sure I know who I want and I will be pretty disappointed if she's already booked!

HOW DID I MISS THIS PTR :lmao: I love all of your old trip pictures---especially your DF's Saints gear :thumbsup2 So awesome!!! Your wedding ring is so beautiful--you make a great couple. Subbing my friend!

Thank you for joining in & for the kind comments!

Yes DF is a big Saints fan (although his attention is firmly on the soccer World Cup at the moment ;))... I'm scheduling time during our December trip to go to ESPN on a Sunday so he can watch NFL! Due to the time zone difference, he usually has to stay up late at night watching the sport.. so it'll be nice for him to see it on a Sunday afternoon - then head over to the Studios for Extra Magic Hours :wizard:

December'10 trip update should be done soon! :santa:

What a lovely gift you made for your MIL. Your doll houses sound really cool, would love to see a picture of one, esp with the blinds :goodvibes

Congrats on finding a photographer and within your budget too :goodvibes I think photographers are the worst part of wedding planning as its a cut throat business and they can charge extortionate prices.

December 2010 trip - update

So it's finally 180 days til our next trip to the World - so like a good Disney-vacation-obsessive-planner, I've made all our ADRs :yay: !!

This is the plan (so far).. I don't think it will change too much, we like to use the morning EMHs - and one of the main things this trip will be to see all the holiday decorations and special events! :santa:

Saturday 11th December
We fly from New York (Newark airport) late morning and should arrive at MCO at 2.15pm... then the Magical Express will be whisking us away to the Boardwalk :goodvibes

bwentrance.jpg

We have a Boardwalk-view studio booked at BWV!

I haven't made an ADR for this day, just in case we have a flight delay or something... instead, we'll probably head into Epcot and wander around World Showcase, get something for dinner at a CS, and watch Illuminations with the holiday tag :santa:

Sunday 12th
We'll up bright and early as we have breakfast booked.. with Winnie the Pooh & friends! .. 8.05am at the Crystal Palace - hoping for some nice photopass pictures on a near-empty Main Street!

(This is me with Tigger at CP in 2006.. we've had lunch here several times but never breakfast)
emmatigger.jpg

After breakfast we'll spend a few hours in the Magic Kingdom.. then after lunch (probably get a hotdog from Casey's Corner!), head back to the Boardwalk.

As DF is a big NFL fan.. I'm scheduling in time for him to watch some of the games at the ESPN club!
Then we'll get freshened up & changed .. and then head to the Hollywood Studios!

We have dinner booked at Mama Melrose's for 6.50pm (never eaten here before but can't wait to try it!) and then it's EMH until 11pm! :woohoo: looking forward to seeing the Osborne Family lights, and a late night check-in to the Hollywood Tower Hotel! :scared1:
