Barber shop and color job ?

I really, really wanted DS to get a haircut at the barber shop, but we had a family portrait and HAD to get it cut. We're going in a week and his hair hasn't grown enough for another cut. I thought about letting him go in and just get a "color job" and pixie dust, is it okay to do that? If so, how much do they charge for it? I really wish he could've experienced the whole haircut

I've heard that they will do the color job and pixie dust free of charge. I would think that if too many people ask for this they might start charging, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Even if they do charge it would be less than for a haircut (which is $12) so probably it wouldn't be much $. Make sure to leave a good tip, especially if they color for free.

Sorry I don't know - but am curious what the story is with barber shop? Where is it and is it a big deal for some reason?

The barber shop is on Main Street to the left of the Emporium. I guess people like it because it's very quaint and it's neat to actually get a haircut in Disney! They give very special attention to kids and esp babies/toddlers getting their first haircut. We got DS's haircut there last March and it was very fun and he loved the color job (bright blue!!!) with all the pixie dust sparkles. He felt incredibly special the rest of the day.

DH gets his hair cut there.
For $15, it's not a bad deal. He also gets color added, along with pixie dust.
Last time besides the yellow n top and the PD, the styler painted a Mickey head on the back of his head.
Best times we have seen to go is first think in the morning, or during a parade.
Be prepared to wait.
