banking transferred points???

Can points bought and transferred be banked? does it matter if the one selling points use year is different from ours? I'm confusing myself here....
I'm wondering also, when transferring, when they're paid for and transferred, do they become ours? in our name with MS? or do they remain in the renters name till we use them? I guess both questions are sort of the same- and do UY points deal with the upcoming year? like a vacation last january would've been my UY points from 2005- and upcoming in summer is my new UY, so those would be called 2006 Uy points?

Transferred points can be banked, they are the property of the person transferred to. They are supposed to retain their home resort and use year but the reality is that DVC cannot easily track them as such. Thus they will normally assume the use year and home resort of the destination contract. My understanding is that DVC is far more flexible on banking transferred points and essentially allowing them to be banked, period, without regards to the booking windows other than possibly the 2 month window. Realize that these are areas that could change tomorrow so check with MS to make sure what to expect in your situation.

Sorry for piggybacking on this thread -- I can't search for old threads because I keep getting the server busy response when I do that -- can transferred points be borrowed as well? (For instance, transfer someone's October 2007 use year points, then deciding to borrow points for a December 2006 trip.)

I know it seems strange. I guess I don't understand why you can bank them but not borrow them.

I mean if they weren't transfered then I could borrow them, why not let the person I transfer them to borrow them.

Maybe it's one of DVC's great mysteries
