Banking Question

So my next trip is in February. I currently have an extra day in that stay that I think I will be canceling and then banking those points for my next stay in August. If I book now and then bank my points later will they still be applied to my August stay or do I need to have the points banked before booking August? I have enough points to book August right now, however, I won't be using any other leftover points in 2020 and will have more to bank then as well to save for a larger trip in 2021. Thanks, I hope the question makes sense!

You have to bank them before booking if they are in a UY that ends before AUgust.

Assuming your points are all for the same DVC resort, you can make the Aug reservation now, then later modify the Feb reservation to take out points, then bank those points (assuming you are not beyond the banking window), then contact MS to switch those banked points for other points in your Aug reservation.

The other option is to modify and do it yourself. Once you adjust your Feb trip, go into your August trip, hit modify. Then go through as booking it again..it will show up as available since you have the reservation..and when you get to the screen with the points, it will show and use up the banked points as you book.

I just did this the other day when adjusting. Booked my May trip with borrowed points. Not sure I will definitely do that one but will be going in January for sure, Once May was booked, and I had the borrowed points, I canceled it. Put the borrowed points in my account.

Then I modified January, went through the process and it used the borrowed points and freed up current UY points, which I then used to book May again. Now if I cancel May, it won’t be an issue since it’s using current UY points.

Anything you do depends on your UY.

Or reallocate them yourself online. Go into modify the reservation, select the same dates and go thru the booking process again and it will pull the banked points first.
