Banking points

I am an idiot, I had NO idea that I needed to back my Oct 2008 points by May 31, when I called a WONDERFUL DVC rep named Darren banked them for me as a courtesty anyway, I think he said I need to use them before Oct 1 2009, am I understanding that correctly? We banked 84 points, we would really LOVE to go in Oct 2010 any way to use the banked points then? any advice?

If you banked points received Oct. 1, 2008, then they have been banked into your Oct. 1, 2009, use year, and must be use for stays by September 30, 2010.

I was thinking about booking Sept 26-Oct 1, use the banked 84 points for the first couple of days and my 2009 points for the rest of the time would that work? I know I need to use the banked points by sept 30

A word of caution. Should anything happen that causes you to cancel your vacation, you points will be forfeited.

We have had to cancel in the past when my MIL got sick and hospitalized and another time when my DW's work decided to cancel her vacation at the last minute.

Fortunately we had chosen a UY that works well with our vacation patterns and we still had time to bank our points.

Yes. That would work fine, as long as the banked points are used up for nights up to and including September 30th, 2010.

if you have banked 2008 pts into 2009, then yes, you can use them at the end of that UY from sept 26 through the night of sept 30 in 2010. then you could use your banked 2009 pts to stay oct 1, 2010 on...

(make sure to bank them before may 31, 2010 though. )

For an October use year, you'd need to make the change by May 31, 2010, so you could bank the extra 2009 points into next year. The 2008 banked points would still need to be used by Sept. 30, 2010.
