I have a question about banking points. It says in the new member handbook that if you bank points they cannot be borrowed or transfered. If we bank our points can we still use them in hotels outside the vacation club? I'm confused as to what transfered means, does that mean we can't use the points outside of DVC properties? What are the restrictions on points once they are banked?

Transfer of points is when points are moved from one contract to another. If you arranged with another member to transfer some of his points into your contract. These points are supposed to retain the resort ID andd UY of the contract from which they are transferred. They can then be banked if they are within the banking deadlines of the original contract.

Within your own contract you can bank or borrow points into another UY - ie. You could move your 2007 points into your 2008 UY and then borrow the 2009 UY points into the 2008 UY which would give you a total of 3years points. Once they are borrowed or banked they cannot be returned to their original UY or borrowed into another UY. You can use the transferred points for any of the places you would use your own points as far as I know. Banked points can be used for hotels other than DVC within the UY dates they are banked into.
