Banking current use year points even after borrowing points

Is it possible to bank current use year points(not banked or borrowed). Even if we've borrowed points from the next use year? I think it is, but I've never had to borrow before and will need to soon.

We have a scenario where we are trying to finish out a reservation with a waitlist so are double booked with current use year points for 2025. One of those will be cancelled eventually before the banking deadline. However in the meantime we are trying to secure a later reservation at the 11 month window for 2026 use year, but will need to borrow extra to accommodate that in the short term.

Yes, the points aren't linked together. You could borrow all of next years into this year, then later decide to bank all of this years point into next year if you wanted to, giving you your normal number of points in both years again. They would just be less flexible since they couldn't be banked or borrowed again
