Banked Points

Have an offer in on a resale with '04 points banked. UY is October. It's dawned on me that if all goes well this process will take at least 2 months before I can book a reservation. This will take me past my 11 month window (2/06) for when I originally intended to book.

It's possible I could travel in June or September of '05. Are you able to use banked points in their original year (i.e., before October '05 in my case) or do I have until my '05 UY to utilize them?

Called the time share office yesterday to inquire but, agent was out, person I spoke to wasn't sure. This has probably been addressed many times before, thanks for your patience.

You wouldn't be able to use those banked October 2004 points until October 2005. But you would be able to borrow your October 2005 points for a trip in June or September of 2005. Then use your banked points for February 2006.

So there's a way to have both trips.

Keep in mind that once any points are either banked or borrowed, they cannot be returned to their original use year. Also, banked points cannot be banked again.

Your banked '04 points MUST be used within your '05 use year. (Oct 1, '05 through Sep 30, '06).

You may borrow points from your regular '05 Use Year and put them into your '04 use year for a vacation in June/Sep '05. But keep in mind that if you do and for some reason later have to cancel the reservation, those points could not be returned to your '05 Use Year and would have to be used no later than Sep 30, 2005 or they would expire.

Ok - never thought of borrowing '06 for '05.

If a problem would arise and I couldn't travel, can borrowed points be transferred to another member (or rented?).

Another questions regarding the banking/borrowing process, can I assume it's just a matter of calling the member reservation number and it's processed immediately or is there a waiting period?

Can't wait to receive membership material, hopefully it will explain all of these details in full.

You are not allowed to transfer banked or borrowed points to another member, but you can always make a reservation with those points and then rent the reservation.

You can call anytime MS is open to bank points. The only limitations are the banking deadlines.

You cannot borrow points unless you are actually making a reservation. If you need to borrow points for a reservation, MS will do it automatically as part of the process and tell you. The CM should also remind you that banking/borrowing are final transactions - i.e., cannot be undone.
