OK, experts-

WHEN SHOULD I GO???

I am so confused about when is a good time/bad time to be there.

Since my job is flexible and I have no problem with taking my kids out of school, I figured we would go during the "slow" time. So I got the UG and the attendence chart showed the first week of December as the slowest BY FAR. So I booked it. Then, I saw on UG's website that they have that time listed as 1s for crowd levels. So, I was feeling pretty darn good about how my exaustive research would be saving my family from waiting in those frightning lines.

Now, I am seeing that the first week of December is actually pretty busy.

What is the deal? If crowd size was the only factor, when would you go?

Some friends of mine go a few times a year. Their kids are not in school yet, so they go in off peak times all the time. They said any time in September after Labor Day is great. They walked on just about everything with only very short waits if any at big rides. I would try this if I were you since it will be a great time for swimming weather too.

Hello,

On my 2002 trip I went on the first 2 weeks in Oct. Now this is my only trip so far (next one in Aug'05!!! :goodvibes ) so my opinion may not be the best but as far as I am concerned it was a fantastic time to go and am only traveling in Aug this year due to DF work commitments.

1) Not mega crowds but plenty of people for a good atmosphere.

2) Glorious sunshine but not too hot and onlt rained for about 2 hours the whole time I was there.

3) Cheaper from the UK at this time as is 'out of season'.

Hope you have a fantastic time whenever you decide to go. :earboy2:

It's getting increasingly more crowded every year IMO.
I've read that January and September are the best times to go.

I was there the first week in December in 2002 and 2004 and personally did not find it busy. The most I waited for an attraction was 15 minutes. Even in fantasyland as I did that at the end of MVMCP. I realize that is not an option for everyone. You can do it first thing in the morning for the same results though. Fantasyland lines outside of late or early are always longer no matter what time of year. Outside of that..though it felt like more people in 2004 (in the streets, shops, resorts etc.) than 2002, the attractions lines were no longer. IMO it is a wonderful time to go. :flower:

Myst

The two trips we took in September were not crowded at all. We were very spoiled no wait times. It was very very hot though. This year we are trying for may hoping that it won't be as hot

The best time we have gone in terms of crowds and weather was October. I was on a business trip and the family drove down with me.

Still warm enough to enjoy the water but not too crowded to get on all the rides we wanted to ride.

Okay..I don't do Disney when there's crowds. So...the BEST time that I've been there has been early September. The next best time I've been there has been early November. :)

This year we're going Thanksgiving and the week after. From what I've read, the week after Thanksgiving and first week of December is supposed to be a very slow time. I can't imagine what the UG website is thinking that they'd say it's pretty busy. Is there some special event being held that week? :confused3

We were there from 2/27 - 3/6 in 2004, and except for the cheerleaders (which is why we were there) I felt it was a great time to go. There were barely any wait times, got all the PSs I wanted, got an IllumiNations cruise, and we were able to swim just about every day. The first 2 days it was warmer in NY than it was in FL.

Unfortunately, my oldest son is in MS now, so there will be no going while school is in session.

the only thing that might change this is that jersey week is the second week in nov instead of the first week this year....

That is correct- this year, the NJ crowds will be the second week of November- as well as Veterens' Day, Super Soap Weekend, and the last weekend of Epcot Food & Wine Festival. So this year, the slower weeks in November would be the 14th- 21st, and possibly the 1st- 5th.

We will be there Oct.29- Nov. 4, so we are hoping for low crowds, other than at MK on Halloween.

Thanks.

I grew up in NJ, so I will be sure to avoid those weeks. :rotfl2:
