Ola! Que Tal? Bots!
Our whirlwind trip to see colleges over the weekend worked out well despite the heat. We left Delaware at about 6:15 PM on Friday and drove through the night, arriving in Columbia, SC around 4:15 AM. We checked into a Radisson and grabbed some shut eye until about 11 AM, then went to lunch and headed over to
University of South Carolina. It was awefully hot, but we did a self-guided walking tour of campus. It was a beautiful campus and the surrounding area looks pretty good. Definitely stays on the list.
From there, we drove to Fayetteville and checked into the Hampton Inn. We found dinner nextdoor at Ruby Tuesday's and headed back to the room for sleep. We were up early, grabbed a quick breakfast then headed to
University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. What a beautiful place!... very nice, large campus in a suburban setting. The area surrounding campus was very nice with upscale homes and neighborhoods. We did a driving tour of campus. Definitely staying on the list.
Note: The heat got up to 102 and it felt like 115!!
We next drove to
North Carolina State in Raleigh, about 45 minutes away. We thought the campus was nice, but not as nice as the other two. More state school looking than the others with square brick buildings and the surrounding areas were not all that great looking. We had reservations, lets put it that way.
We then drove east to
East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. That was pretty far away and on the opposite side of I-95. The campus was very nice, and the buildings were well maintained and nice looking. The area near campus, in particular the business area near campus was a bit economically challenged with closed stores, etc. Again, we had reservations and eliminated this school.
We are sure both schools we eliminated are great schools and have many great programs and success stories, we just chose to keep two ont he list that gave us better vibes. We'll more than likely re-visit UNC - Chapel Hill and USC for guided tours and Andrew will interview there sometime in the future.
After that we grabbed dinner and headed north towards Delaware. We got home around 9:15 PM. I drove 1,400 miles this past weekend.

Small price to pay if my son finds a school that is a good fit.
I worked on my training plan today by going to the YMCA to do some XT. I am not in the condition I need to be in yet for that (or maybe I shouldn't do it after driving all day, then working all the next day). I biked 4.2 miles, .60 miles on the elliptical and lifted weights.
Tomorrow is back to running. Something I think I can handle.
Have a great evening and a wonderful Tuesday!!!
