Baltimore BOT-Fest

Colleen - Alright! 3 miles and 2 non-stop. All I know is that if your kids are still in swimming there really is no time to run. Marissa is in her second year.

Lou

Lou, yes the kids are still swimming, in fact, DD11 qualified to swim in one event in the state championships this weekend. She just aged up to the 11-12 year old group, but decided to swim since the meet is only 50 minutes away.

I am lucky the kids swim at our local Y, so I can work out or run while they swim. They feel a little cheated because they have to be in the pool at 7 a.m. for practice. They get up earlier in the summer than they do during the school year.

Jen's at Disney, how did I miss that!

Hey everyone: If anyone was sitting on the fence, Disney Endurance just updated their website that the Wine and Dine Half Marathon is closed. The 5K is still open, but registration is full for the half marathon October 2nd.

Were any of the Bots going to be running it? Well, besides Chester ;) .

Cindy and Matt were you thinking of running it?

Oh, darn it! I always had that in the back of my mind. I had no idea it was even 50% full.:sad2:

HI everyone!

Colleen~ Great job on your "training"!! We kept up with Jenn and Andrew on swim teams for a few years, I do not envy you one bit (or Lou).

Jen~ I hope you are enjoying your trip south! :thumbsup2

Sara~ Thanks for checking in!!! If you are going to be in AC, that's pretty close for us. We too like and typically visit the Tropicana and have been to Carmine's a few times. Mmmm. Safe travels, enjoy your quality family time.:hug::hug:

Jodi~ I hope the foot is being nice to you.

Judy~ Hi! I'm still listening..... :rolleyes1

I ran some after work yesterday. It was brutally humid and hot. I am not sure why I even went out, but I figured it was only 5 miles, right? Doesn't everyone think like that? :sad2: I almost got sick from the heat a couple times during the run and had finished 16 oz of Powerade before I was half done. Here are the results:

Miles: 5.0
Time: 44:20
Pace: 8:52
Splits: 8:53, 8:56, 8:46, 9:02 and 8:43.

I noticed my spilts are getting pretty consistent around the 8:50 area which is a good thing and I've dropped a few pounds... not enough though.

Tomorrow we are off to the lovely metropolis of "National Park, NJ" for a birthday party/pool party and then Sunday we are up early and traveling down to Washington, DC to visit American University with Andrew (DS). This is his first college visit. We meet with his Guidance Counselor next week to discuss college choices, etc. They grow up so fast!

Hello to all the lurkers!!! You know who you are!!! :rolleyes1

Have an excellent weekend everyone!!!

Hey there everyone! Life has been crazy as usual! I'm actually registered for the wine and dine, and I'm signed up with TNT for the full in January, AND I booked my room (but did not register yet) for the Princess. I can't wait for these races!

How has your summer been going?

Good morning Bot-machine!

Need to report in here before I go for my 3rd training run of the season. Going for a total of 50 minutes but I think I will need a few walk breaks in there, I will see how it goes.

Only 95 degrees here today...

Have a good one.

YO-BOTS!

How's everyone doing? I'm way too lazy to respond to each of you so I'll just say a generic:

"Nice job"! & "Awesome" & "Wow". You all intepret it the way you want for your specific situation.

It's all about me today.

I'm training for my tri diligently :rotfl:. No really! I rode my bike 10 miles yesterday; swam 1/2 hour on Sun. & on Sat. I rode 8 then ran 3 immediately afterward! I ran in sneakers, but Sun. a.m. I ran/walked a few in my FiveFingers without incident!. Tomorrow a.m. I will try to run 3 or so in them to test the waters :scared1:popcorn::. They will be perfect for the bike/run part of the tri.

It's hot up here.

"Nice job"! & "Awesome" & "Wow". You all intepret it the way you want for your specific situation.

I like that!!:thumbsup2

YEs, got in 58 minutes today, last 8 minutes was just trying to cool down from my 172 heart rate from the previous 50 minutes.:scared1: Total of 5 miles with 3 non-stop.

Jodi and Colleen: Great job! Wow! Stupendous! I'm Impressed! Better than I can do! :worship:

Much to my ultimate dismay and against all common sense, I ran last night. I really didn't want to... I forced myself to get out there in the humidity of all humidities.

Miles: 5.0
Time: 44:15
Pace: 8:51
Splits: 9:16, 9:22, 8:54, 8:33 and 8:10.

It was literally like a sauna out there. It felt good to get it over with, that's for sure. The first three miles felt like I was carrying around a Sumo Wrestler on my shoulders.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday. I am off to Dover (our State Capital) later today to do a presentation.

I hope some of our wayward BOTs check in and provide a "Training" update. :lmao::laughing:popcorn::

Figures, Jodi didn't include me. Seriously, I'm impressed with you doing a Tri. I can't wait to hear how it goes.

Great job on your run in the humidity Howard

OK, I've been trying to get back at my training. Maybe I'm expecting a little too much in this heat and humidity. I've been feeling dead on my runs. However, I've gotten in 5 days of running for the last two weeks. With 6 mile long runs on Saturdays. It feels good to be running, and I've really been enjoying it. I just haven't had as much time to post lately. The only trouble I've been having is really tight calves, but I've been diligently using "The Stick" on them and it seems to be helping.

Hope everyone is doing well. I think of you all often.

Colleen: Great job getting some runs in and congrats to your DD on her swim achievements :cheer2:

Jodi: I hope your foot is improving. I thought of you the other night while doing some true barefoot running. We had promised DD6 that we would take her to MK to see the fireworks (she missed seeing Tink fly the first time we went and was really disappointed). We had a date night at Jiko and had a wonderful, leisurely dinner then looked at the time and realized we had only 40min to get back to our room in Kindani, change out of our "nice" clothes, pick her up and get to MK :scared1: I couldn't run in my dressy shoes so I took them off and ran in a dress barefoot all the way back to our room-- about 0.5ish miles. The run actually felt pretty good and we somehow made it to the fireworks on time.

Howard: Kudos to you for running in this nasty heat. The TM and I are becoming quite friendly because I refuse to run outside in this.

We had a really nice vacation and completely enjoyed our week at Disney. We spent lots of time at the hotel pool and just relaxing. DD6 was brave enough to try Expedition Everest for the first time and liked it. The fireworks and Electrical Parade were really awesome. Tough to get back to the real world but we are managing. Starting to actually train for DL-- can't believe how quickly that is coming.

Hey Everyone,

I'm still around and diligently reading everyone's posts. Just too lazy to interact.

I guess that's probably why I:

1. Enjoy working by myself
2. Frequently am accused of being non-communicative
3. Have no friends
:confused3

Me, too!! :thumbsup2 :sad2:

I'm too lazy to respond to everyone as well. What's happened to my positive participation on our thread?

I'm proud of all you people out there in the heat - I've been trying to go early before the sun comes out.

Jen - Great story about trying to get to MK on time!! Awesome!

Ran 3 miles yesterday in my five fingers & it felt great! No pain, except a tight achilles on my LEFT foot now :headache:. Whatever. The injured, right foot, felt fine - a little tweaky. Today I'll bike a bit & swim for 1/2 hour or so. Tomorrow I'll run again...maybe a little further than 3. I must say, running in the fives again feels SO good! Maybe now I'll break my other foot. :rolleyes1popcorn::

...I've been trying to go early before the sun comes out.

I think Jodi is secretly living the life of a vampire. :thumbsup2 :lmao: Or has been watching too many Twilight films. :sad2:

I finally put together my training plan for MCM! :cool1::banana::woohoo::dance3::cheer2:
I took my training log back to May and included my training (or lack there of) for the Delaware Marathon, the Spring Lake 5, and the Stratton-Faxon Half Marathon. I have a ways to go with my training, but I'm happy I've been mixing in some 8 milers with my 5's so the adjustment I have to make won't be too big. I've also included XT days on Mondays.. I guess I'll go to the gym or bike those days. :confused3

I got out into the pea soup air and ran some tonight:

Miles: 5.0
Time: 43:06
Pace: 8:37
Splits: 9:13, 9:05, 8:12, 8:33 and 8:02.

It was hot but not as humid as Tuesday!

This weekend Cam, Andrew and I are driving to Columbia, SC, Raleigh, NC and Greenville, NC to look at colleges. I think I'll be driving over 22 hours this weekend. :sad2: Kids grow up so fast.

Have a great day everyone!

:grouphug:

Are we actually supposed to train for MCM?? :headache:

I certainly hope not.

Have been injured for the past 6 weeks and haven't run at all. As long as we don't have to train, I'm in great shape. If we're supposed to train, I'm screwed!

Jackie

Ola! Que Tal? Bots!

Our whirlwind trip to see colleges over the weekend worked out well despite the heat. We left Delaware at about 6:15 PM on Friday and drove through the night, arriving in Columbia, SC around 4:15 AM. We checked into a Radisson and grabbed some shut eye until about 11 AM, then went to lunch and headed over to University of South Carolina. It was awefully hot, but we did a self-guided walking tour of campus. It was a beautiful campus and the surrounding area looks pretty good. Definitely stays on the list.

From there, we drove to Fayetteville and checked into the Hampton Inn. We found dinner nextdoor at Ruby Tuesday's and headed back to the room for sleep. We were up early, grabbed a quick breakfast then headed to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. What a beautiful place!... very nice, large campus in a suburban setting. The area surrounding campus was very nice with upscale homes and neighborhoods. We did a driving tour of campus. Definitely staying on the list.

Note: The heat got up to 102 and it felt like 115!! :scared1::headache:

We next drove to North Carolina State in Raleigh, about 45 minutes away. We thought the campus was nice, but not as nice as the other two. More state school looking than the others with square brick buildings and the surrounding areas were not all that great looking. We had reservations, lets put it that way.

We then drove east to East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. That was pretty far away and on the opposite side of I-95. The campus was very nice, and the buildings were well maintained and nice looking. The area near campus, in particular the business area near campus was a bit economically challenged with closed stores, etc. Again, we had reservations and eliminated this school.

We are sure both schools we eliminated are great schools and have many great programs and success stories, we just chose to keep two ont he list that gave us better vibes. We'll more than likely re-visit UNC - Chapel Hill and USC for guided tours and Andrew will interview there sometime in the future.

After that we grabbed dinner and headed north towards Delaware. We got home around 9:15 PM. I drove 1,400 miles this past weekend. :sad2: Small price to pay if my son finds a school that is a good fit.

I worked on my training plan today by going to the YMCA to do some XT. I am not in the condition I need to be in yet for that (or maybe I shouldn't do it after driving all day, then working all the next day). I biked 4.2 miles, .60 miles on the elliptical and lifted weights.

Tomorrow is back to running. Something I think I can handle.

Have a great evening and a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Howard - If your times keep dropping this rapidly I am going to have to find out what's in your Gatorade. You must have some "special" vitamins in your water bottle. On a serious note..dude you're on pace to kill MCM.

Megan - I was out on Kelly Drive on Sunday and I believe I saw on FB that you were out running too. Were you there? I wanted to run 16 miles but bailed after 11 because of the heat and ended up catching a subway back to my car.

Colleen - Nice job on the 3rd run. It's been insane hot here so I can only imagine how hot it is your way. Stay cool.

Dave - Don't feel so bad about the dead runs...at least you are running. The heat has been breaking me all summer. See if you can get those "special" vitamins that Howard has and you should be fine.:thumbsup2

Jen - Glad you enjoyed and relaxed at WDW. Good luck with your DL training.

Hey everyBOTy else!

Got 16 miles in 2 Sundays ago. I got out at 6AM and ran all over Philly. This Sunday I tried to do it again but started at 8:30AM and was shot down by the heat after 8 miles. I staggered another 3 miles and then decided to call it quits and headed for a subway station.

Lou

Jackie: Sorry to hear about your injury. I hope you feel better soon.

Howard: The college hunt sounds like an interesting trip. At least there were 2 that stayed on the list and made all of that driving worthwhile. I can't even imagine looking for colleges yet-- I'm still trying to figure out what supplies DD needs for 2nd grade next year. Awesome jobs on your runs in this awful heat!

Dave: Loved the Weird Al interview. I really like his music and think he is a fun performer. How cool that you got to talk to him! I hope things with your dad finally settle down and you can enjoy a bit of your summer.

Jodi: How goes the foot?

I'm getting back into the "normal routine" but we have entered birthday season around here. I swear all of my friends kids were born within 4 weeks of each other so we have at least one if not 2 kid parties every weekend. My little one turns 7 this week, so I'm in the middle of prepping for birthday stuff. Trying to get in runs for DL although my actual training is aimed at the PDR with DL as one of my long runs. I figure after a week of vacation in CA I'm probably not going to run my best race but I may be able to do something better a few weeks later at home.
