Baltimore BOT-Fest

Jodi~ You could drive to Delaware with Judy & Charlie. I'm driving from here. It's about 2 hours +\- . Or fly into Philly and I'll pick you up and take youfrom here. You have options girlfriend!!!:thumbsup2

Howard

I don't think she wants to spend that much time in the car with me.

Yeah, like we could trust you. I've got a picture of you (loopy, but very happy), a well used new MCM mug, and a lot of empty bottles.

Always have to watch those Candians....you're right.

How're you feeling anyway, Mike?

Thanks for all the additional options, Howie. I don't know what I'm going to do at this point. Although hanging out w/ Judy in a car for an extended period of time does sound intriguing.popcorn::

What? I don't recall that exchange...at the time I had NO intention to sign up, in fact, I already know I won't be running.
Edited to add: BIB FOR SALE!!!!

STOP it! No selling of the bibs, woman. You will be there, toeing the starting line with the rest of us freaks....allright, you can just watch the beer, but you HAVE to come. I'll buy you an unbreakable MCM sippy cup.

Interesting....I was having "Maybe my first full marathon should have been MCM" regret... :rolleyes1

Wait, what?:rolleyes1 No, no, it's Bruce...I wouldn't subject ANYBODY (except maybe Mike) to a close-confined-encounter of the scary kind like that.

I should probably get 2 coffee mugs, just in case.

Collen should have such foresight.:rotfl2:...popcorn::

So do you have a plan of attack for this thing or WHAT? MY suggestion? Just run fun & enjoy it. This is good stuff & you don't want to stress - this was my approach for NYC. And while I did run pretty dang slow (even by MY standards, lol) I enjoyed myself immensely - it was definitely the right approach. Listen, for me to be smiling for the last 6 miles of a marathon there's gotta be something to it. :sad2: SO excited for you. How far do you live from Boston?

I need to buy a jacket and maybe a poster and I should probably get 2 coffee mugs, just in case. Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

CindyLouWHo, The gift shops in the airport had a ton of mugs the day after DH ran Boston. I am not sure if they were 'official', I didn't inspect them, but they had the logo, etc. on them...just in case you want to add another to your collection.

Good luck in Boston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sister and brother-in-law are running it again this year. She leaves tomorrow and is very excited to REALLY race it this year.

Judy, I will know for sure in a few months, I am going to start seeing a chiro to try and get my hips, knee, feet lined up properly, etc. etc. I will keep you in mind. MCM has a transfer policy where it is legal to transfer bibs.

Why do Bob and Doug McKenzie come to mind right now? :confused3 Anyone?
Strange Brew indeed!

Jodi - What day is Bruce's race? Is he freaking out yet?

I'm feeling fine. Well, almost. I went out for a run yesterday but my right IT band still is no bueno. So after a mile I was actually smart and walked. Not Kathy fast walk but still pretty briskly for a couple more miles. I'll give it a day or two more then try again.

The race isn't until next Sunday, the 25th. And YES, he is freaking hard! Especially when we registered him last night. :lmao: Now he's obsessing over weather, tapering, & every little twinge he feels. All those things he used to calmly tell me "don't worry about it, you'll be fine. You can't change the weather, so why stress?" Ahhh.....payback's a bee-atch! :rotfl2: I'm thinking of telling him I signed him up for MCM @ about mile 60 of his run...:thumbsup2.

Smart thinking with the walking - it hasn't even been a week yet. Go easy. :worship:

Colleen~I think Bruce has the Biceps and Triceps to get you back into alignment... he's a Chiropracter, isn't he? :lmao:

Mike~ Smart move on the walking thing with the IT Band. Your time will come soon.

CindyLou~ Best WISHes for a fun, safe and successful BOSTON MARATHON!!! You are doing it!!! I'm so proud of you and your efforts to get there and prepare despite some heinous stomach issues recently.

Cam had a "Synvisk" shot in the knee earlier in the week. It is some kind of joint lubricant to take place of tissue in the short term. It is giving her some relief and the bone on bone grinding is lessened. The idea was to tide her over until surgery. Her knee surgery is scheduled for May 24 (Victoria Day for Colleen). She'll need to stay off of the knee for 6 weeks, that'll be a lot to deal with for sure. :sad2:

My knee was feeling better yesterday and I went out to try to make up for some lost miles earlier in the week. I ran 8 miles in 1:21:22 for an overall 10:10 Pace. My first two miles were of the very ugly variety. :headache: I had shin splints and my pace was in the 12 to 13 minute range (I walked a lot and stopped to stretch). However, after mile 2 the pain subsided and I moved into several miles in the 9:20-9:25 pace range. My last mile (very hilly) was 9:05. I need to learn to stretch out a bit before hitting the streets. I typically just "go". (Not the Jodi stop kind of go.)

I have a LR of 18 scheduled for this weekend (Saturday), but I will more than likely move it to Sunday.

This time next week, Cam and I will be at the airport or on our way to Jamaica! :beach: I am ready for 9 days in the sun and sand in a tropical paradise. Some Red Stripe sounds pretty good about now too! :thumbsup2 I am taking some running gear but don't expect to get in my 20 miler on May 1st. I'll be golfing at White Witch at Rose Hall. I have a 7:30 AM Tee time.

I am really looking forward to MCM weekend! I can feel the BOT Love already! And taste the brew Cindy & Matt will be cooking up for us. :rolleyes1

By the way... 29 Days to the Delaware Marathon!!

TGIF!!! Have a great weekend!

Jen - Good luck at Rutgers tomorrow. Have a great race.

CindyLou - Ditto for you at Boston. I would say I'm jealous, but of the two of us, only you put in the work and earned it!

Jodi - Is it easier to practice the Chi principles in your glove shoes? Mole skin today?

Remind Bruce to breathe from time to time. ;)

Hey BOTs!

Been AWOL the last week for various reasons. I'm heading out to the Penn Relays 20K this morning. Weather is brisk (39 degrees) but the pollen count is very high as per the Weather Channel so oxygen will be hard to come by. I'll check in later when I'm back.

Jen - Good luck at Rutgers!

CindyLou - You must be pumped about tomorrow! I'll be following you online.

Bye!

Lou

I'm back. 1:37:05 was time. It was actually a decent run but a minute off the PR from last year (1:36:00) and 5 seconds slower then my 2008 time. I have to believe the heavy pollen this year is killing me because I felt decent during the run but had a hard time getting air when I ran through Fairmount Park along the river. I mean there were tumble weeds full of pollen blowing across the road for miles. I am literally wheezing now but otherwise I feel good. The weather was great (42-45 degrees, sunny and dry as a bone).

Oh yeah...this is by far one of the fastest races, across the board, I ever run in. Lots of local running clubs completing for bragging rights. I got to the start line early so I could go right off with the gun and looked around. There are some fast people running this race and I was hoping they were offended that I suck up front with them. I mean I hit the 5-mile marker and there were 3 leaders coming back to the finish line...is that even possible? I felt like Bugs Bunny racing the tortoise with the souped up shell ("modern design....streamlinin"). Those guys must have had jets in their shoes.

Heading off the breakfast with the family. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyBOTy!

Lou
