Baltimore BOT-Fest

Sheesh! While I don't plan on running MCM, you guys have me hoping I can make it for the weekend. What is that, a 2.5-3 hour drive? I may even find a friend to provide lodging for the weekend...

CindyLou - I thought about you Saturday. I was running behind 2 people chatting. One was a younger girl and she said she's running Boston Monday. Nice taper!

The other was this old dude, Gary that everyone knew. It was like running with Norm from Cheers. Gary! Gary! Gary! all morning long. Anyways, he was telling the girl that 3 different times he ran the BRR 50 on Saturday then drove up to run Boston 2 days later. Crazy!

Here I thought one of the reasons these nut jobs ran ultras was because they don't run marathons that fast. Well, turns out that's just my reason.

Howard - Gentle on the knee there buddy.

Mike~ I just wasn't feeling it and I didn't go for the 5 miler tonight. Instead I Cross-Trained by washing both Cam's car and my own. My knee is still not back to 100%, but tomorrow should be good for XT (real XT) at the gym.

CindyLou~ Best of Luck in BOSTON!!! That is my running dream... the Grand Daddy of them all. Maybe some day I'll get in when I'm 102 years old and I just need to break 5 hours.

Matt~ As a true German, I need to be involved in any Pre-MCM testing of the Oktoberfest brew. :rolleyes1

Jodi~ Tick Tock!!!

Have an excellent evening!

Good Morning My Friends: I've been trying to get some runs in with my new custom orthotics. However, they gave me a major blister on my inside right arch. They adjusted the orthotic, but I need to get the blister healed. I tried running yesterday after putting bandaids, etc. on it, but my foot ended up a bloody mess. Oh well...

My sister and I have been trying to do deal with my Dad's situation. I think we're going to need to sell his house in Delaware to deal with the huge credit card debt he's amassed. However, we then need to find him a place to live.

Small steps... small steps...

Dave - More  for you and your sister as you deal with your dad's situation. It's so much harder to do from out of town. My car was essentially on autopilot for more than a year. Once I got on the interstate, it knew exactly where to go (and I'm pretty sure I slept for more than a few miles behind the wheel while it drove me there!)

Matt
- I need your friend's address. Better yet, can't you just stash some along the course?

Mike - How's the recovery today?

All DC area folks/MCM experts - We're getting ready to book our room and need advice/recommendations for hotels. We'd prefer not to spend a fortune on this weekend, but would just like a nice hotel that's convenient to transportation. I THINK we're all reasonably intelligent enough to be able to get around (one of our group has actually lived in the area and is familiar with the Metro, so she's responsible for navigation.)

I'd recommend staying in Rosslyn (so you can walk to hotel after finish) or anywhere up the Orange line in Courthouse, Clarendon, VA Square, or Ballston (if your friend knows Metro, hopefully that means something) because it will be easier to get a train in that direction after the finish. The closest hotel to the finish is probably the Residence Inn in Rosslyn. I think rates there are usually fairly reasonable.

Dear Bruce Dougherty,

YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY REGISTERED FOR THE 35th MARINE CORPS MARATHON

Don't tell him! He doesn't know yet!:rotfl::banana: I'm signed up, too!

But here's the real important question......

WHO'S GUARDING THE BEER @ THE FINISH LINE?? popcorn:::dance3:

Jackie: Last year, Judy, Charlie and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Rossyln-Key Bridge. The rates are reasonable ( I am using the Entertainment Card and got a discount) and it is right near the METRO and adjacent to the family gathering area near the finish. Good luck finding a room this late in the game. I booked on January 24th.

Mike~ I trust you to guard the beer. :sad2:

Jodi~ I am so glad you and Bruce are signed up for MCM!!!!

I went to the YMCA tonight for some XT:

Elliptical: 3.1 miles in 24:46; 7:59 Pace
Bike: 4.42 Miles in 15:38; 3:32 Pace

My knee is still twinging every once in a while. I am supposed to run 8 tomorrow. That is up in the air for now. I am trying to be smart about all of this.:rolleyes1

Have a great evening!

Now that's a funny prospect :lmao:.popcorn::

Colleen - I wasn't going to sign up, I know. But got to thinking that I probably won't be able to make it down in Jan. for Disney marathon weekend as we're going on a cruise in Feb., & the 10 p.m. 1/2 down there doesn't sound too appealing to me, so MCM was all I had for my BOT FIX!

Although some BOTS won't be there :sad1:. Lou? Dave? Sara? Chester? CindyLou? Who else??

Later flight....got it. How long IS the train ride from DC to BWI anyway?? Should I fly right into DC on another airline?
What kind of beer are we drinking?
Where will we eat the night before?
"Where will I go? What shall I do?"
I know - frankly, none of you give a damn.
