Baltimore BOT-Fest

Yea if you can get a good deal, I like the embassy suites (its off New York Ave in Northwest DC by the convention center). If not staying in VA could save you a bit of money, just be near a metro.

The cherry blossom festival is a lot of fun, and very pretty to run though, but if you want to do that you should plan on getting up fairly early to do that run. I can send you a route or something if you want.

Jen – Congrats on the PR!

Jackie – I’m sorry to read that you are injured.

Howard – I’m sorry to read that you are sick. Feel better!

CindyLou – I’m sorry that the doctors haven’t been able to figure out what is causing your stomach pain yet.

Chester and Tracy – Thinking of you.

Sara – I’ve been thinking about you. It’s good to hear from you. Really sucks that you have a stomach bug after all you’ve been through.

Jodi – I saw your FB update. I hope that the pin guy did indeed fix you.

Mike – All kidding aside, Matt and I are planning to come out and cheer for you. Not sure how much actual support we’ll be, but hopefully we can at least keep Kathy company if she’s cheering for you (since she’ll be out there for many, many, many hours).

Hi to Lou, Megan, Dave, Cam, Judy, Butch, CrewMatt, and anyone else lurking!

Oh yeah, I ran 3 miles today. It was rough. I think I am going to have to slowly ease back into this whole running thing.

Hi I'm here! I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things after this weekend. I had a great weekend, including drinking halfway around the world. If I had drank all the way around the world, someone would have had to carry me out.

:grouphug:BOTS:grouphug:

Megan - Welcome back. Sounds like you had a blast down @ the Princess thingie! What's up next for you?

Jen - Post that Warrior info on here so we can get the BOTS organized! Did you go for a run today in this lovely weather?

Cindy - Definitely ease back into the running poop. Glad you were @ least able to get out for a 3 miler. You SO need to go out & crew for Mike & keep Kathy company...or at least take care of the kids :rotfl2:.

Matt - Yeah, yeah, glad the knee is OK....about this beer. A porter you say, eh? Hmmm.....can you send a suitcase up on the train or something?

Mike - Glad Mindy is going to crew for you & stuff. Bruce & I were going to come down, but it sounds like everything is covered now. :rolleyes1 I woulda stayed for the whole event & everything!:rolleyes1
Bruce's training is going well....he's just running out of time. The way I set it up, his longest run is a 20 miler 3 weeks out. I just didn't think it prudent to do any more, as he's ramping up on his mileage way too fast as it is. Last Sat. he ran 14. He's supposed to run 16 this weekend, but it's gonna rain like a mo-fo. He might try to do it Fri. He ran 7 today & his last mile was @ 6:37 or something stoopid like that.
I'm still concerned about all his little aches & pains, though. Feet hurt, calves are tight, left shin, etc. :headache:. we'll see.

Colleen - Well that didn't take much convincing or time! Going to DC, are you? I can't go that week, no vacation here, but have fun!! Walking at all?

Howie - :sick:Sorry you're feeling like doo-doo.

Sara - Glad to see you're posting!! Things seem to be on the mend, eh? Good for you!! So happy to hear it. Keeping my fingers crossed that there's no respiratory compromise & you can have the trach removed :woohoo: Get rid of that bug!

CindyLouHoochie - Lidocaine & Maalox??? That's some cocktail. I sometimes had to spray lidocaine in people's throats while nasaly intubating them....got kinda messy sometimes :rolleyes1. But I digress. I hope this helps you out...sounds like you've got a lot on your plate (no pun intended) with this whole intake issue. Bruce is having a real hard time on his long runs w/ serious stomach cramps. Go figure :confused3

So I love my chiropractor, but he can't hold a candle to my Hellraiser pin-dude. It's sorta like comparing a hamburger to filet mignon...yeah, they both come from a cow, but.... That guy stuck serious needles in me today...hip/IT band/glute...:scared1:. We'll see what happens. I soaked in a hot bath & will try to run a bit tomorrow. Silly body! Silly overuse injuries.

50 miles with just a cell phone. Who needs Gu?
I figured with a phone I could just order Chinese: "Yes, I'd like one large double cooked pork delivered to just under the bridge at mile 32. Add extra white rice please."

Cindy - It would be cool if you and Matt could come watch for a bit. We just found out that the girls have a dance competition at King's Dominion that weekend. They still don't know if it will be Saturday or Sunday so it is possible that Kathy will have to take the girls and won't be at BRR.

Megan - You need to train a little harder. No, not for running. For drinking your way around the world.

Jackie - That totally stinks about the possible stress fracture. Any improvement?

Colleen - The girls have spring break the week BEFORE Easter. The week after is back to the same old grind for us.

Howard - Hope you are feeling better.

Take care everyone else!

Well, I hope the dance thing ends up being Sunday so that we get to see Kathy, but Matt and I will be. There's no way we're letting you go out and run 50 miles with no one there to cheer for you!

Jodi - next up for me is the Broad Street Run. I was going to do Race for the Cure the following weekend, but I got a DING yesterday and I will now be the team cheerleader for the Muddy Buddy!

Mike - I think even at my best I was only capable of another 2 countries.

My training run tomorrow was scheduled for Valley Green but they changed it to Kelly Drive due to rain. I will still go even with the torrential downpours that we are expected to have since I probably won't run without the team.

White rice?? You should be eating brown!:thumbsup2

Your girls have the week before off, not good, well, since everyone (including Jodi) will be working, I guess I should go back to the summer visit plan. Must get out my calendar again.

Yeah, it's Friday.:dance3:

Hi everyone! Just a quick post. I have been sick for a couple of days as most of you know by now with a heinous Sinus Infection. I've turned the corner thanks to some antibiotics, Mucinex DM and, just tonight, the Neti Pot. I finally listened to at least 10 people who told me to get one and use it to clear my sinuses out. I just used it once on each side and it did indeed clear some stuff out. Tomorrow, I'll rinse and repeat until it clears it all out. Overall I am feeling better and I returned to work today.

I have the Polar Bear Plunge this weekend (Sunday) at the Delaware beaches and tomorrow morning I'll be at the University of Delaware volunteering as a first round judge for a Case Competition. I survived two of those during my MBA program. They are murder. So, now I get to stick it to the students and rake them over the coals a bit. Touche'

Next weekend (Sunday) is the Caesar Rodney Half (with Lou). I hope to get a few miles in after work this week as a tune up. No long training runs are going to happen though.

Matt~ Glad youe knee seems to be holding up!!!

I promise to post more soon. Have a great weekend!

:grouphug:

Howard

White rice?? You should be eating brown!:thumbsup2
I'm talking about having chinese delivered under a bridge and you're worried about the health content of the rice??:confused3

Sorry the trip plans don't seem to be working out. Soon, I hope.

Matt - Good to hear the knee seems to be improving.

Howard - Happy to hear you are on the road to recovery. You have to wonder who this Neti person was. Enjoy harassing the students. Plunge quickly!

I'm having trouble figuring out how to balance tapering for a race I'm not really ready for next weekend and building up for an ultra 3 weeks after that.

To that end, I got 15 miles in this morning. Granted, not my fastest effort ever at an 8:24 mpm average but still not bad. Well, at least I thought so until Kathy saw my time and asked if I had to make a bathroom stop along the way. Tough crowd.

Jackie - That totally stinks about the possible stress fracture. Any improvement?

It appears that maybe it was just a really severe cramp in the calf. There's an obvious knot in there somewhere, but the pain moves around now and is nowhere specific, so I decided to run my 10 this morning anyway. Didn't hurt, except for a little at the beginning, so I'm guessing that Tobacco Road is a go. :woohoo:

:lmao:

Matt - Glad your knee is on the mend!

Howard - Hope your sinuses are on the mend!

Jackie

:headache:Ouche, dude. :rotfl2:. BTW, I agree with Colleen, brown rice only. And the girls don't have a dance recital that weekend...Kathy's just starting to realize how long 50 miles is going to take you! Glad Mindy will be there to pace/crew for you.;) Don't even bother tapering for your marathon.

Howard - Glad the sinuses seem to be clearing up for you. Neti pots are great, aren't they? Serious results :scared1:. Tell Cam hi from me.

Megan - Broad St., eh? Hmmm.....

Colleen - Let's all drive down & visit YOU in the summer. We can have a BOT campout in your back yard!:dance3:

Matt - Happy the knees behaving. Any more running to report?

Cindy - Any running for you?

I ran 4 Thurs., 3 Fri. A little tight. Went back to the torture chamber today for some more needles. And that's it b4 next Sun. Not too well prepared, but we'll see what happens. Hopefully it won't be raining like THIS weekend. Ugh.

Sure, y'all come down now yahear! :yay:We can go hiking and camping in the mountains, have a down home hoe-down, :dance3:drink some sweet tea and eat some hush puppies and BBQ!!!!:cheer2: I will show y'all some good ol' southern hospitality.

Hmm... Grandfather Mountain marathon is July 10th. Just sayin'.

Jodi - So, Bruce is O.K. with letting some quasi-healer hippie dude fumble around with needles on what I have to assume is your exposed rump?

You'll be fine for you race next weekend. Just take it easy and enjoy.

Jackie - That's great news about your leg. We are looking forward to seeing you next weekend.

We had a nice, damp morning watching the girls dance in the local St. Patty's Day parade. Unfortunately, no beer, green or otherwise followed.

Hmm... Grandfather Mountain marathon is July 10th. Just sayin'.

:thumbsup2Sure! Kids have a swim meet that weekend, so we will be here, but I can feed you a bowl of brown rice and then point you toward the mountain.;)

Jodi - What's up with the back? You got a massage and lots of pins since I last checked in. Stay off the heavy weights for a few weeks.

Mike - Yes, working like a dog. 15 miles at 8:24 is pretty good. Are you ready for the ultra?

CindyLou - Sorry about the stomach troubles. Maalox and Lidocain??? That's sounds very nasty.

Sara - Glad you are going back to work and getting back to normalcy.

Matt - Glad you are ruuning and the knee is feeling better. The dopplebock sounds good.

Colleen - Hello. When's your next race? If I remember correctly you are not much of a spring racer.

Cindy - DC in the spring sounds enticing. I need to find a way down there.

Megan - Glad you had a good time in WDW and drinking half way around the world. I'll try to make your Manayunk Happy Hour if the schedule permits.

Howard - Sounds like you've had a rough week or so. I saw the Neti Pot post on FB. Better you then me.

Butch - Congrats on your American Idol efforts.

Cam - Will you be cheering at Caesar Rodney?

Hey Chester and Jen!

Last week was down week for a variety of reasons. One of my clients, largest engineering firm in NJ, closed it's doors on Friday. They had a conference call with 200+ employees and told them the company was closing effective...now. Security guards escorted people out of the buildings. It's hard to explain but looking forward to running some races and getting to April.

Got 12.5 miles in today after the flood ended. The bike path was one puddle after another. The pace was 8:54 which was decent considering I know I am carry extra weight and have't run that far since WDW. Next week Caesar Romero 1/2 marathon.

Lou

Hi Lou! - Glad to see you back in these parts!! How fast are you going to run next weekend?

All about me now, folks-

Massage/needles/poking/prodding, followed by more massage has left me sore (don't even go there, Mike) and not wanting to run on this leg. Might not even run this entire week & just hope it heals. Apparently everyone is in agreement that it's my psoas. Lotta good that does me...just fix the friggin' thing!:headache::rolleyes1popcorn::.

So we'll see how Sunday goes. Handful of Advil should do me.:thumbsup2

You sure you're not just getting old and crusty, Jodi... :rolleyes1

Hey everyone!

It's been a real roller coaster ride since the end of January.

Miranda wrecked her car February 25th and the insurance company declared it a total loss. So now the 3 of us are sharing 2 cars.

Thanks to everyone who expressed their condolences about Tracy's Mom. We thought everything was looking up after the liver transplant in November and her return home in January. She developed a massive brain bleed February 27th while we were away in New Orleans for the Marathon and she was taken off life support the next afternoon. I knew something was terribly wrong when I met up with Tracy outside the finishers area.

The Mardi Gras Marathon is a perfect Bot run. It's flat, It's scenic. And there is awesome food and drink available. Downside is that accommodations are expensive and the finish is far away and requires a shuttle back to the downtown area.

On the work front - I've been too busy to do much of anything, including running. I've been averaging 1 - 6 mile run a week. I'm working seven days a week, 12 hours or more a day. I'm backlogged and have had to ask Chet to help me out with some of the load. I started an LLC and opened a business checking account. So far this year I've logged 135 little jobs - plenty to keep me busy and enough income to pay the bills. The survivors at work have been placed on 3 day work weeks. I'm glad now that I was cut loose completely since it would be really hard to work both jobs now.

Other good news. I found some of the stuff that was stolen off the porch Christmas week. I have my Garmin back! Now the only thing missing is the digital camera and the bag of loose change.

I'll be soloing the trip to Tobacco Road this weekend. I'm looking forward to it even though I'm severely under trained. Not a problem though - I'll just adjust my expectations. Sorry to find out Cindy and Matt won't be there.

Have to get back to work. If I'm not drawing - I'm not making money.

Best wishes to all,

Chester
