Baltimore BOT-Fest

Matt and I have both deferred our entries to 2011 (it's really nice that the race permits that). I'm still sad about it though. It would have been fun to be there this year with a big group.

:banana::banana::banana:

With any luck, it will turn out to be a good race and maybe more will do it next year! Glad you got to defer your entries. So far I'm impressed with the race committee - we'll see how it goes on race day!

And I think you probably made a good decision - I ran the course yesterday, and anyone who was having knee and/or shin pain had a really hard time on the road portion. The roads aren't in real good shape, and there were enough rolling hills to make it tough on injuries.

My home and native land....:banana::banana:
Crazy Canadian! ;) I am installing a curling sheet in the basement if you're interested in coming up and sliding a few rocks.

Matt and Cindy - That stinks about the bad knees and all. We will miss you for sure.

Lou - Congrats on getting outside. Sounds like a fine running schedule.

Jackie - Thanks for keeping us updated with the Tobacco Road info and course.

Jen - Tell Butch "nice job" on the Sasparilla-Magilla Gorrilla race.

Chester - Race report?

Jodi - I didn't check FB. Did you run this weekend?

The following is my training plan for my upcoming marathon and 50 miler.
:scared1::scared1:

Matt and I are thinking about it. His uncle's girlfriend is running and they invited us to stay with them for the weekend. However, Matt doesn't want to register for any more races until he figures out what is going on with his knee. So, if it closes soon, I'm guessing we might get closed out.

Cindy - It would be great if you guys could come up but even better if Matt was healthy. Broad St is a race you want to run close to 100% because the course is very fast. Hopefully, the knee problem is nothing that rest won't be able to heal.

Jen - Broad St hit 33,000 runners last year and it was a zoo. They ran out of medals and the crowds on the subway to the race were insane. They had to cap the # of runners and I honestly think 30,000 is too much. It's still a fun race.

By the way, I very much enjoyed the hockey game yesterday. It's a tough one to lose but even tougher when the game winner is scored by Sydney Crosby. Couldn't it have at least been Mike Richards? Great tournament and great Olympics!

Lou

I'm doing Broad Street this year! TnT has a short season and is participating in it for the first time ever so I joined with them. We had our first training on Saturday in the snow and ice in Valley Forge.

*** It was still warmer than the half!

I'll be in WDW this weekend for the Princess!

Jackie, thanks for posting info about Tobacco Run Trail.

Send prayers for Chester and Tracy. Tracy lost her Mom this weekend and they were flying out right after the NOLA event. Chester ran the marathon. I don't know how well he did. He will have to make the report after he gets to a computer.

Tracy and Chester, our condolences. Lily, thanks for letting us know.

Chester & Tracy - So sorry to hear the news. Thinking about you both :grouphug:. Thank you, Lily, for keeping us updated.

Tracy & Chester~ So sorry to hear about your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

Lily~ Thanks for keeping the family here updated. Looking forward to seeing you (and Ted) soon!

This seems pretty insignificant after hearing the sad news. But here goes...

My YMCA work out information for tonight:

• Elliptical = 3.1 miles in 21:00 (6:46 pace)
• Expresso Bike = 2.37 Miles in 8:14 (3:28 pace)
• 1 Mile on Treadmill (11:56 Pace) -- Nice and easy..No pounding on the knee
• Free weight workout

Sending continuous good vibes and prayers to Sara.:hug::hug:

Lou & Megan~ I'm thinking about Broad Street too.. Guess I need to get something in gear and sign up. :rolleyes1

Chester and Tracy: Just adding a :hug::hug::hug: and some good thoughts. You are both in my thoughts.

Chester and Tracy, I'm so sorry for your loss.

As for me, I ran (or attempted to run) for the first time since January 31st this morning. I managed 2 miles on the treadmill before my knee started hurting. Ended up walking another mile to keep things loose and then lifted some weights. Going to see how the knee feels tomorrow, but I think I'm at the point now where I can probably run a tiny bit and maybe do elliptical and bike workouts as long as my knee doesn't feel any worse the next day.

I think that if I don't see any progress this week or if my knee feels worse I'm going to call a doctor for sure.

Chester & Tracy - I'm sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts go out to your family.

Matt - I agree. Rest up the knee and see how it feels. If you are still in pain next week you may want to get the knee checked out.

Megan - That's cool that you're running Broad Street. I'll let you know if I run Kelly Drive anytime soon. Broad St is a really fun race. It finishes in the Navy Yard and they have a lot of activities for friends, family and such. We'll have to plan a WISH meet somewhere down there.

Howard - You should sign up soon. I have a feeling this race will sell out soon as I already know dozens of people that signed up that did not run last year.

Broad St has become the race for me to train/motivate for this spring. I have a bunch of friends and family that signed up and already people are trash talking. It's kind of like Canada and hockey. I can't lose a race on my home court. I need to get myself in gear and drop about 10-15 lbs. This snow, coupled with less running and more beer have led to me being out of shape. 2 months to fix that.

Lou

Lou~ I'll check the dates and sign up soon. I am going to book MCM within the next few days also.

I have decided to run the Delaware Marathon in May. It'll be my second time, Delaware was my first marathon back in 2006. The course has changed since then and they have added a half marathon too. I am going to upgrade my Half deferral from 2009 to the marathon this year. Charlie (Judy's DH) signed up for the marathon this week.

My YMCA work out information for tonight:

• Expresso Bike = 4.42 Miles in 15:53 (3:35 pace)
• Treadmill = 2 Miles (11:23 Pace)

Trying to slowly ramp up the miles on the TM. No knee issues so far. Want to run outside. Maybe this weekend.

Matt~ Take care of your knee. Its better to know now so you don't damage anything. Be well.

Mike & Jodi~ Let me know what you thought of that Race Report for the Canadaigua 50. Pretty intense... the miles, resources used, time, etc.

:grouphug:

I'll look for you on Kelly Drive Lou! I know that the team will be there this weekend, but I'll be going through the castle on Sunday! I will hopefully be sitting in a plane, waiting for take off in 10 hours.

Lou & Megan~ Unfortunately, this year won't work for the Broad Street Run. :sad2:

Cam and I will be in Jamaica :beach: April 23 through May 2. We'll be in Jamaica when the race begins, and returning home that afternoon/evening.

We're staying at Couples - Tower Isle (an All Inclusive) for 5 days, then moving over to the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall in Montego Bay for 4 days before heading home.

If there was EVER a reason to miss a race, this is it! :thumbsup2

I know you'll both do well. I'll definitely be running Broad Street in 2011!

Howard

Good Morning Bots.

Lou: I'd love to do the Broad Street Run one of these years. Won't be this year though. Good luck defending your home turf against your friends and family.

Howard: A trip to Jamaica sounds great. Didn't you just get back from a warm tropical vacation? I want your life. Good luck with your training for Delaware. Thanks for your comment on my blog. Right now it feels like the only thing I can control in my life is my running, so I'm holding on to that as best I can.

Megan: Good luck at Princess. Enjoy the warmer temps.

Matt: Glad you were able to run at least a little. Hope the knee keeps improving.

Jen: Hope you made it safely to Florida. Good luck in the race.

Chester: Still thinking of you and Tracy.

Cindy: Hope work slows down for you.

Mike: Hope the training is going well. I like your plan. :scared1::scared1:

Jodi: Hope all is well.

Colleen: I'd love to go for Wine and Dine, but probably won't be able to. I need to convert my DH into a runner, then he might not mind so much if we spend all our vacation budget going to races.

Sara: Hope the treatment is going well.

I visit the GI today. Hopefully she'll have a good game plan to figure out what is going on. I've given up all caffeine, wheat/gluten, soy, eggs, berries and nuts (and sweets since it's Lent). None of this seems to help. I stopped taking the meds since they didn't seem to help and my stomach improved for a few days, but it didn't last. I had a couple good days and was hoping it was all in my past, but alas, yesterday and today the pain has returned.

My running is going well. I've really lucked out with the weather this year. We've had less than normal snow, and when it does snow I can usually get out the next day since they do such a good job with clearing the roads in my town.
Have a great day everyone.
Cindy
