Baltimore BOT-Fest

Glad to see some peeps crawl out of the woodwork here.

CindyBostonLou - I was thinking about your gut yesterday...wondering what's up with it? I'm sure your Dr.'s have thought about IBS, yes? Is it painful all the time, just after you eat? :sad2: More about Bruce's training further down

Colleen - Been meaning to call you....:confused3. Your boy gets the bus @ 6:30??:scared1:. I've got two teenagers that think 6:50 is an ungodly time to catch the bus.:rotfl:. Glad you're not training, either.:thumbsup2

Chester -Mardi Gras run?

Sara -Hi

Howard - Your continued slogging to the gym has inspired me...kink of. I actually brought my gym clothes to work today...thinking of heading in there sometime this afternoon. :headache: Go easy with your return to running, yeah?

Mike - :flower3:....Freak.

OK, men are babies....that's all I can say. While in the City w/ Spencer on Sat. Bruce called to "yell" @ me b/c the 10 mile route I gave him to run was only 9 miles & he had to add on another mile at the end.....Um.....yeah......where's the problem???? He's like "you can't do that to me, I was expecting it to be over when I got home & blah, blah, blah, blah, :rotfl2::rotfl:". I'm like, dude, you better grow a thicker skin than THAT! But alas, being the all-knowing wife that I am I knew he was just beginning to understand what he had taken on. :rolleyes1. Later that evening when I got home & I congratulated him on his first double digit run he confessed that it was "a reality check" & that he "better get my head right". Uh, YEAH, that's what I've been trying to TELL you....62 miles, indeed. :sad2: sigh.

Me? Not that you care, but I woke up Sat. a.m. w/ my lower back completely tightened up. Shuffled 3 miles, went to the City & sat on train, play, etc. & tightened up more. :headache:. It's shifted from my back to my hips, down the front of my legs...very odd. Might have to go to Hellraiser/Pinhead buy, but trying to get rid of it myself w/ hot baths, stretching, foam roller. :scared1:. It's slowly getting better...walking makes it feel better. Hence the gym idea today :rolleyes1:sad2:. We'll see.

As CindyLou mentioned, the weather up here is snow/rain/snow until Fri. If Sat. is heinous & my back is still poopy I won't run that 1/2...which would be a shame b/c I think I've convinced Bruce to run it, too & think that it would be fun. He's supposed to run 12 that day, teehee :cutie:

I'm alive, just working very long hours. Hopefully I won't have to work this weekend and will catch up then!

Hi everyone! Just checking in again!

I made it to the YMCA again tonight:

• Elliptical = 3.1 miles in 19:41 (6:20 pace)
• Expresso Bike = 2.91 miles in 10:49 (3:43 pace)

No weight work out, it was way to crowded to wait around for a bench to open up. :headache:

I see my Orthopaedic doctor tomorrow for the follow up, I think it'll go pretty well.

Cindy~ Hope the crazy job gets un-crazy for you soon.

Jodi~ Did the inspiration work? :rolleyes1

CindyLou~ Best of luck getting the stomach issue worked out favorably and training for that 26.2 Grand Daddy of them all.

:grouphug:

Howard

Greetings from the land of kittens and puppies.

Howard: Great to see you are able to run again and the knees is behaving itself.

Cindylou: I'm glad there was nothing seriously wrong with your stomach, but know how frustrating a "non-answer" can be. I hope you feel better soon and that the training is going well.

Jodi: I love that it is finally sinking in just how far Bruce said he would run-- it had to hit eventually.

Cindy: I hope work eases up for you soon.

Chester: Are you still planning Mardi Gras?

Things here are status quo-- the cat and dog have made peace and aside from the fact that the cat likes to pounce on the dog's tail, all is well. The dog actually doesn't mind, so we find ourselves praising the dog so she will wag to entice the kitten to pounce (we need to get a life, I know...) Butch's knee is no worse for wear after his 5K adventure. He is planning to try to run a marathon in Tampa this coming weekend and do as much as his knee and "less is more" training will allow. I just got over a winter cold and am slowly feeling more like myself, trying to be ready for the Princess 1/2.

Jodi~ Did the inspiration work? :rolleyes1

For about 30 minutes worth of elliptical training :rolleyes1. I loathe the gym! Nice job getting in there again!!

Back still sucks - keeps shifting from each hip to leg, then this a.m. back to my back. I thought I was fine yesterday p.m., it was subsiding nicely, but woke up this a.m. all twisted up again. :yay:

Jen - Forgot you were doing the Princess 1/2!! Have a blast & I'm SO glad that your zoo is running smoothly :thumbsup2.

Hey Everyone: Sorry, I haven't been around lately. I've been busy with work and traveling and traveling for work.

DW and I are supposed to fly out to Orlando tomorrow (Thursday) morning. This is an adult weekend getaway at Disney for us, as the "cool Aunt" is coming out from Cleveland to watch the girls.

I wake up to the paper this morning to see the following headline on the front page. I kid you not, this is verbatim: "Rochester area braces for snow hurricane".

WTH?? :confused3 I don't even know what a snow hurricane is. They're calling for at least a foot of snow between Thursday and Friday.

“It’s going to be a very nasty storm," said Alex Sosnowski, a meteorologist with AccuWeather.com, a weather service based in State College, Pa.

An AccuWeather press release said the storm “will be nothing short of a monster” and “may seem more like a ‘snow hurricane’ than a blizzard.”

Whipping winds with gusts up to 50 mph are expected in the Rochester region, he said, and could create hazardous driving conditions on tomorrow and Friday.

Wasn't it 50 mph winds that kept the Disney Magic stuck at Castaway Cay? Great.... I'm sure that won't be a problem for the "Cool Aunt" driving over from Cleveland.

I'm hoping we get out tomorrow before the storm hits.

Hope all my BOT friends are doing well.

Jodi~ Sorry you are still tied up in knots. :headache: You better let that "doctor" stick you with some needles to make you right as rain. :thumbsup2 Keep us posted!

Dave~ Best of Luck getting out of town before the storm. The local news here is calling it a "Snowicane." We are expecting somewhere between 8 to 10 inches or more depending on how far from shore this tracks.

I saw the Orthopaedic Doctor and Physician's Assistant this morning and got an all clear to slowly ramp up for the Caesar Rodney Half in March. They told me to take it day to day, listen to my knee/body and not over do it, and to keep up with the XT at the gym. I have a 30 day appointment (after the half) to see him if needed, but hopefully I'll just cancel it because there'll be nothing to discuss.

Hi to everyone else! Hope everyone is doing well out there! Jodi, Sara, Jennifer, Lou, Judy, Dave, Cindy, Matt, CindyLou, etc... Be safe in the impending storm.

I thought I'd sneek back in to post my work out information for tonight:

• Elliptical = 3.1 miles in 20:12 (6:30 pace)
• Expresso Bike = 4.42 miles in 15:28 (3:30 pace)
• Free weight workout

Good Morning Bots.

Jodi: The doctor hasn’t mentioned IBS but I don’t really have those symptoms. The pain is in the top of my stomach. On the days it’s bothering me, it hurts all the time unless I am actually eating, then it feels OK for the next 2 minutes. Hence the reason I have been eating a lot the last 2 months. I can go for several days that it doesn’t hurt at all. So sorry about your back problems. I hope it improves in time for your race. Although, the weather sounds heinous for the weekend, so it might not be a bad thing to rest your back.

Cindy: Hope work eases up for you soon. Have you been able to run at all?

Howard: Great job being so consistent at the gym. Have you run again since Monday? How’s the knee feeling?

Jen: Glad the cold is feeling better. You must be very excited to have the Princess to look forward to, and even more excited about warmer weather (I hope). Hope Butch is able to get out in time for his race. Glad there’s peace among the animals at your house.

Dave: I saw on FB that you cancelled your trip. I’m so sorry. That really stinks. Good luck with your snow hurricane – isn’t that just a blizzard?

Sara: Hope the recovery is going well. Have they decided on the radiation yet?

Lou: Have you been running?

Mike: I saw your double digit run on FB. That’s a good thing.

Chester: Hope the unemployment thing is going OK. Any prospects for a new job?

Hope all the other Bots are doing well.

Cindy

:)
Howard: Great job being so consistent at the gym. Have you run again since Monday? How’s the knee feeling?

Hi Cindy! I haven't run since Sunday (3.1 miles) in my neighborhood. I've just been doing the low/no-impact stuff at the gym. The knee is holding its own for now. The hard workouts at the gym don't seem to be tasking it too much at this point. I am staying away from the treadmill for now. If I do climb aboard, it'll be for a VERY easy jog and not very long.

Tonight I braved the horizontal flying snow and made it to the gym. I know I won't be there tomorrow night since I have a school event (if it is not postponed until Saturday).

My work out information for tonight:

• Elliptical = 3.1 miles in 22:46 (7:20 pace)
• Recumbent Bike = 3.11 miles in 10:59 (3:31 pace)
• Free weight workout

Let's hope the storm gets out of here soon for all of us north easterners! :headache:

CindyLou - Sorry to hear about the stomach issues. It's weird because I have been having stomach pain for about 6 months and tests haven't found anything either. Hopefully your pain goes away so you can kick butt in Boston. Training must be rough with all the snow.

Jodi - For all you put Bruce through you could at least map out his runs correctly. :lmao: Sorry about the lower back pains. I think we are all going to be stiff from sitting inside the past 2 months.

Howard - You've become a gym rat. You are making me feel guilty. Nice job with all the workouts.

Jen - Wait a second...Butch is running a marathon his weekend...just like that? Wow, I give him credit.

Dave - Did you get out of NY for your trip? For some reason I thought you posted on FB that you were not able to fly out. If so, that sucks. This winter has been insane.

Sara - How are you doing?

Mike - How is the training for the 50-miler? Your FB posts have been nice. I haven't run 10 miles since WDW. I think my first LR will be Caesar Rodney in 3 weeks.

Chester - Good luck in Nawlins. I think I will try to run N.O. next year. I have family in Slidell and I think my SiL is running this weekend.

Hey EveryBOTie else!

Okay, not much running to report. I got in 8 miles today which was only the second outdoor run since WDW. I get to the gym here and there but the TM is getting old. The snow wasn't too bad here this week but enough to recover our lawn which was just finally starting to melt enough to see spots of grass. I am done with winter. This makes up for all those winters over the past few years that we got hardly any snow. I still have a 3 foot pile of snow on my deck that ha barely melted.

Lou

Morning BOTs!

So, let's see. February has not exactly been the best month for my running. Between all the snow and lots of other stuff going on, I think I ran once in the entire month. And that was 3 miles. Anyway, not much I can do about it now and tomorrow is another month and I'm determined that it will be a better month!

Mike and Kathy - As much as I hate to do this, Matt and I are going to have to back out of the Tobacco Road. Matt hasn't been able to run at all because of his knee (but has not made a doctor's appt. yet) and I think it would be really stupid for me to try to run a half given how out of shape I am :sad2: This will be the first race that I registered for that I won't run. :sad2:

In good news, I think Matt and I are 99% definite that we are going to do the Wine&Dine in Oct. Who else is in????

Cindy - I hope you are able to figure out what is going on with your stomach - that sounds really frustrating.

Sara
- I hope you are continuing to feel better.

Howard - So glad that you are able to run again.

Jodi - How is your back?

Chester - Can't wait to hear about the NOLA marathon!

Jen - I hope Butch is having a great run.

Cindy - I ran with a girl yesterday who didn't get into Tobacco Road but is planning to run anyway. She might be interested in your bib... if you're really sure you don't want to try it. I was looking forward to meeting more of the BOT contingent!

Jackie

Cindy: I hope your stomach is feeling better! Good luck with the Boston training in this lovely winter ick weather.

Jodi: Hope your back improves. All of your acupuncture talk has me almost wanting to go to try and fix my spasming neck and shoulder muscles. The shoveling is likely not helping my shoulder but...

Chester: Hope you had a great time at Mardi Gras. Are you still planning on being in Disney for Princess? If you are home this week Butch will now be staying in Bradenton till he heads to Disney on Thurs.

Dave: Sorry about your lost trip. We had a similar thing last year-- my dad won a trip to ESPN the Weekend but I couldn't get off work to go on a free trip grrr....

Butch finally got out of NJ yesterday (original flight was Thurs but got canceled then the Fri one got canceled too). He got his dad to attend the expo for him to get his stuff and had what sounds like a good run this morning. He managed 4:31 which was pretty awesome considering his limited training time with knee pain after the full. He will be staying with his dad this week then driving up to meet us in Orlando on Thurs.

Hey BOTs.

Quick, all about me post as I want to watch the hockey game. Got in 6 miles outside this morning. It flurried the entire run but what do you expect.

Signed up for the following spring races (in addition to Julius Caesar Rodney Allen Rippey): OD 10-Miler, Penn Relays 20K, and Broad Street Run. Are any of you guys in for Broad Street this year??? They are capping the race at 30,000 runners this year so you need to sign up soon.

USA...USA...USA!!!

Lou

Jackie

Matt and I have both deferred our entries to 2011 (it's really nice that the race permits that). I'm still sad about it though. It would have been fun to be there this year with a big group.

I think I will make it down for the Wine and Dine. :thumbsup2

:banana::banana::banana:

Hey BOTs.

Are any of you guys in for Broad Street this year???

Matt and I are thinking about it. His uncle's girlfriend is running and they invited us to stay with them for the weekend. However, Matt doesn't want to register for any more races until he figures out what is going on with his knee. So, if it closes soon, I'm guessing we might get closed out.

Cindy and Matt: Sorry to hear about Tobacco Road, but I think you are making the wise choice. I hope both of you get over your knee problems.

Lou: Thanks for the heads up on the cap for Broad Street-- I thought they took whoever wanted to come-- we'll have to hurry and sign up.

We are also in for Wine and Dine
