ok well I was watching the news and there saying something about CA law makers trying to make those silver balloons out lawed.
If I am correct don't they have those balloons in Disney Land.

I was making a joke saying we should bind together and say no to the law makers make them know we don't want there stupid new laws leave our balloons alone. (the good news is last week the bill failed by 5 votes they have to the end the month to try to get it passed. I don't live in CA but I do visit. My son doesn't like balloons but if he ever did I wanted to get him one the big silver balloons from Disney. I sure hope this law doesn't pass

That is so peculiar... I wonder why they are arguing about the balloons...?

When we were there, we were going to get a balloon for each DS (2 & 1). I went to go find one of the CMs selling the balloons and wanted a Mickey one and a Nemo one. Unfortunately, they didn't have any Mickey's left... Well, then I went to go look for another person, and they didn't have any either.... it was only Minnie and Princesses that they all had. And to top it off, when I finally thought, "Hey I wonder how much the balloons even are".... they told me $7 (or maybe $8... I can't remember exactly). :scared1: Needless to say, we didn't get balloons this last trip.

I think, but I may be wrong, that the Mylar balloons cause problems with the overhead electrical wires and the electrical companies are complaining about it. I think that is what is driving the bill.

Personally, its the latex ones that bother me. They are an environmental hazard to a lot of wildlife. Sea turtles and other animals try to eat them because they mistake them for prey and the balloons end up killing them. Also, if a toddler put their mouth on one and it pops, the latex ones tend to break apart when they pop and pieces can be inhaled causing suffocation.

So, I would much rather see the Mylar ones over the latex ones.

if its late, and the vendor does not have one, feel free to go to city hall or find a manger/lead within the department, they can help you out in getting one out for you. the balloons are $7. :)

its couse they hit the elecrical things in the air and they sayit couses to much damage. I still dont see a reason for them to take away something ppl sell and buy

and what if you happen to be someone affected by a power outage caused by one of those balloons? maybe someone at home on needed medical equipment? or suffering through a heat wave? Thousands of people have been affected around our country due to outages from mylar balloons.

there are many many products that have been "bought and sold" over the years and taken off the market because they negatively impacted something else or were dangerous.

not to mention who pays to repair all of those electrical lines affected by the balloons? I can assure you it is the people paying the electric bills . . . . i.e., you and me.

And no--I have no interest--financial or otherwise--in the anti-balloon lobby.

I personally hate the balloons anyway. They're overpriced and will eventually deflate. I'd rather have a souvenir that will last longer than a week!

And here in California, power outages are a pretty big deal, I'd want to do anything I could to prevent one.
