Bail out doesn't pass!

I'm glad it got rejected. I hope it gets rejected again. I'd rather risk losing some of my retirement savings than have my taxes go up to bail out these stupid, irresponsible companies. Let them fail, fold, and start over with responsible companies and CEO's. Bail them out now, and we'll be doing it again in 10 years.

Why in the HECK would she go and do and say something like that right before you have a critical vote were you need support from the other side!?!?!?! Was this supposed to provide "cover" for Democrats to vote for the bill?!?!?! "Rubbing their nose in it" and being inflammatory, aren't very effective bipartisan tactics.

Both parties are acting like children! Except most children don't behave this badly! I'm sick of all of them!

Pelosi says Dems delivered on their bargain, half of the votes, and the Repubs did not deliver their half of the votes.

Why she gave an irritating jab prior is odd. :confused3

But bottom line the Repubs are the reason it failed.

A part of me feels this way too. Kinda happy it got rejected.

Pelosi sure has a brass set to get up there and give a lecture on bipartisanship after the stunt she just pulled.

Agent JAY: "Why the big secret? People are smart, they can handle it."

Agent KAY: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals. You know it.."

In light of the recent events, I think this is going in my signature.

It's not just republicans. 95 democrats voted against it also.

This is a BI-PARTISAN FAILURE both parties should be proud to take this claim.

Do you want to know because it will affect your future vote?? I really don't understand this disgust towards representatives listening to their constituents. I know some people think that government knows best, but if the people can have this sort of an impact to stand up and say they don't want this sort of bailout and actually be heard, then I find that speaks to the strength of our democracy.

Yes, it will affect my future voting.

I feel like if there was a better plan out there, it would have already been put out there. I HATE the what's in it for me mind set that is in Washington.

Get ready to be bailed out by China. They financed the war in Iraq and they are the only 'people' with enough CASH to buy the failing banks.

this is very very bad.

The Repubs did come up with a better idea: insurance for the bad debt vs. the bailout. If you weren't so partisan, you might have taken the time to learn about their alternative.

Pelosi needs to go. She can't even lead her own party anymore.

The problem with the insurance is no one thought it would work. If you weren't so partisan you might have figured it out.

I have yet to hear why the Republicans did not vote for it. I don't think they wanted to take the chance that it might not work but I think they will have to accept the blame when the economy fails. It was the President that sent this bill to the Congress, it was the Democrats that worked to make the bill more responsible to the taxpayers, it was the Republicans who did not pass it.

You know, if you expect help from someone, it's usually not advisable to give them a big verbal "middle finger" right before you need the help.... I'm just saying.

This is so false!! All Pelosi needed was 11 more Dem votes and it would have passed. She failed by not getting enough support from her own party and then running her mouth.

Nice try to try to blame the Democrats on this one, but I can't believe that anyone but hardcore Republicans are going to buy it. If a partisan speech by Nancy Pelosi was enough to get the Repubicans in a snit to kill the bill, then they weren't ever going to give the bill the support that was their share to give. The fact is that the Republicans wanted to force the Democrats to pass this bill so that they could blame the Democrats if the public wasn't happy. The agreement was to pass a bipartisan bill with bipartisan support. The Democrats honored their agreement. The Republicans didn't.

They needed to have half of the Republicans vote for it in order for it to be bipartisan. What would be the results if only the Democrats voted for it?

WTH?? They just asked Pelosi about losing votes based on her partisan spanking, and Franks said he'd speak on her behalf. Gee, hand off those velcro balls. Morons.

I never said it was a perfect fix, what I said is I don't see the Republicans coming up with a better idea. Each side was supposed to get half of their members to vote, half the Dems voted for it, half the Repubs did not.

It needed bipartisian support, it did not get it.

Ummm which means that half the Dems did not and half the rep did....

Also how do you know what they are putting in the pot as for ideas....how do you know that the REP have not come up with anything better :confused3

you are being or at least sounding very one sided on this whole issue. you dont sound like you want bipartisan support ...you sound like you feel like the DEMS have brought forth a plan with no help from any REP and because many DEMS say it is okay than it must be. And the hell with those that dont agree....because the DEMS are always right no matter what and the REP have not a clue about anything.

Maybe if you weren't so partisan you would see that it's not just the Republicans that didn't pass the bill.

Again 95 Dems voted against it. If 13 of those Dems had voted for it than it would have passed, only 13 more were needed. Where's the outrage towards them?

I don't know if I agree with passing this plan or not. I don't feel like I can comment on it when I have not read the entire thing, I only know what I hear through the news, you can't really trust that everything you see on the news is accurate.

I hope you still feel this way when unemployment skyrockets, you loose your job, inflation increases even further, and there are no loans for houses or cars anywhere to be had. Not to say these companies shouldn't take a hit, but allowing them all to fail will have serious repercussions on the taxpayers too. You may not want higher taxes to fund the plan, but are you ready for the higher taxes an severe cut in government services that will be needed when our tax base is severely diminished due to failed companies and unemployed workers. Careful what you wish for.

The expression "cutting off your nose to spite your face” comes to mind.

I'm trying to figure something out. The Republicans are using a speech by Pelosi as a reason to vote against it? Honestly? That's the reason? Boo Hoo, she said something we didnt like, so we're picking up our votes and going home. What are they, 5 year olds?

I can understand if they have true concerns about the bill, I understand they might be against the bill for what is contained in it. But to say they aren't voting for it simply because of a speech? That's just really childish.
