Bags on rides?

We will have a two yr old with us which means when we go on the bigger rides (space mountain, EE) an adult will be staying back with her. But, when we go on the rides we all can go on (IASM) we will be leaving the stroller somewhere. Which means I will want to take my backpack with our camera and stuff in it. I've only ever taken a small crossbody purse on anything so I'm not sure of the rules. Can you bring backpacks?

It depends on the ride, but usually yes. I carry a backpack and have never had any problem putting that on a ride with me - event rides like Space Mountain. I prefer the backpack because it leaves my hands free. Rides like Star Tours and Soarin even have special places to put your bag on the ride.

A reasonable size backpack is not an issue and actually very common. We have 3 kids and have visited many times with infants and toddlers where having supplies was mandatory, add in a camera and a backpack is a perfect option.

The rides at Walt Disney World are designed to bring your bags on. I take my rather large backpack on every single ride.

Yes you should be fine with a backpack.
Some rides you can leave it on, and some ride's I'd take it off, either place it beside you or on the floor (linking the straps through your ankles can help too)

I have a backpack with camera bag and tablet in it. Never had an issue taking it on a ride and I've been on all of them! No worries

If it doesn't fit in the storage compartment, put the bag on the floor, between your feet. On a fast ride, I put my leg through one of the straps, to hold it in place.

I don't think there is any ride at WDW that you aren't allowed to take a backpack on with you. Watch out of course for it flying away on the roller coasters or it getting soaked on the water rides.

There are no storage bins at the loading platforms to leave your stuff like you'll see at amusement parks. Disney wants you to take your stuff with you and the ride vehicles are designed to accommodate that.

One thing that isn't publicized much is the free lockers near Kali River Rapids. If you don't want all of your things to get soaked, you can put them in a locker outside of the ride entrance. The first 2 hours are free.

I've been using the same medium sized backpack for over 16 years to wdw & dl (ap holder.) I take it on EVERY ride. They don't allow you to put bags aside like six flags does. It's waterproof, so everything's safe on after rides as well.

My only suggestion is to make sure you have a bag that can close. Even on simple rides, it is easy to put the bag down and it to fall over. Anything in it could then roll out.

I take a bag most of the time, usually with my DSLR, and I have never worried about taking it on rides, including RnR.

On many rides (most rides?) you exit/unload in a different spot than where you load. Even on the coasters. So this wouldn't be an option. You are required to bring it on with you. The alternative would be renting a locker at the front of the park for the day.

There is designated stroller parking outside of every ride (or in a central area for several rides). Strollers are not allowed in line.
