Bagless Theme Park Days- HOW???

For our last trip, I used a flip belt. I'm sure I got the idea from the disboards.

It was wonderful. No bag line.

Hold your phone until through security.

We used it for most days.

Some days I needed ponchos and/or extra sunscreen. Those days I used a small cross body. I did go through the bag line then.

I've had off and on success wearing them as to whether they make me go through the bag line. The rule is supposed to be if it zips you go through bag check. When I put my flip wallet in you can see the outline of the wallet. I had one security guard insist I had to go through the bag line even after I took the wallet out and showed her that was what was causing the bulge. I had to shimmy out of the belt, I was wearing a sundress. When I went through the bag line the security guard there looked at me like I was crazy. I then had to go to the bathroom to get the thing back up over my hips and over my dress. I have worn it under my dress and carried my phone in my hand while going through security then gone to the bathroom and pulled it over my dress. I guess if you wore a TShirt and shorts you could have it under the tail of your shirt and they not see it. I also had another guard question it and when I pulled the wallet out I got a pat down, which was fine with me. I have a rain coat that is clear like the ones the CMs wear and I have a plastic bag it fits it with a hook that hooks it onto the built in hook in the belt. I have also just looped a poncho through the belt after carrying it in my hand through security.

Try it- once you do it, you will never go back! You really don't need all of the stuff you think you do. Magic Band, Sunglasses (which rest on my head all day) and ID,Credit Card and cash bundled in my pocket (if my with DH, I have him put it this in his wallet. Phone stays in my hand all day. If we want water, we just visit a counter service location for nice free ice water (that is actually cold)

So, now that the Express Transportation Option has been cancelled, my sister and I would like to try a bagless day. Just 2 ladies, 60+, no kids, no husbands.

How much stuff do you really need to take with you to the theme park?
Can you carry a water bottle in with you?

What do you other Dis Pros do?
I love just using my pockets (no bags) when in the parks. Minimum items - kleenex, chapstick, water bottle, camera/phone and, of course, a hat.

EDIT: I forgot, I also have a small case that holds my ID, credit card and a small amount of cash.

And I'd even say you could probably leave the money and credit card behind and use magic band instead.

I would never rely totally on MBs, I've seen many times when the machines are not working. It's always safer to have either a small amount of cash or a cc. I carry both because I don't like charging to my room and cash comes in handy for those small ticket items.

I would love to join the bagless brigade! Quick question for those mentioning small cross body bags, do you use the bagless line or the bag line? I always thought that anything other than perhaps a wallet in a pocket counted as a bag. TIA!

Light cross body bags count as a bag. I wear them only because they are a very light weight and easy to keep secure on rides. I hate carrying around a lot of stuff. After losing a phone on a roller coaster, that was in my pocket, I don't try to go bagless in theme parks.

I'm surprised more people don't bring sunscreen. I burn easily and usually end up in wdw during the summer so need to reapply.

I don't know if I've ever made a habit of bringing it unless I was at the water parks. Generally, if I'm not swimming once is sufficient for me to not get burned, but I also don't stay in a park for the entire day. We either go for the afternoon and evening or the morning and afternoon. Now that I have a baby, I keep sunscreen in our diaper bag all of the time, just in case we randomly want to do something outdoors.

I would hate having stuff in my pockets. And I would stress all day that something would fall out. I'd much rather spend the 5 minutes in the bag check line, then spend the whole day worrying about losing something out of my pockets.

The belt in the pics attached has a zipper. So it would need to go thru the bag check line and it would have to be off of your body. Even if you get thru the no bag line you can always be tossed thru the metal detectors and still have to take it off.

How the heck are people fitting water bottles in pockets??? My shorts would fit credit cards possibly?

I agree, I'll bring my small cross body purse and wait in the bag check line. :)

I thought I read a post on the first page where the poster went through the bag-free line with a small wallet/bag. I must have misread and it makes sense that you would have to go through the bag line if you have anything with a zipper.

I always carry a small pouch bag cross over with my phone, ID, CC, Cash, fold up brush, lip gloss. My DH wore shorts without a zipper once and lost his wallet (which was turned in with everything in it! Love WDW!). He won't do that again and now makes sure he wears shorts with a sturdy closing flap or zipper. I'll stick with my little bag too.

Don't have the water bottle in my pocket. We've been allowed to walk through the bag-less line holding our water bottle in our hand. Once through, I have a water bottle holder that I use. I don't like the water available (from the tap) in Florida.

Two words. Fanny Pack. I had no shame. My hubby and kids threw a fit cause they said I would embarrass them wearing it but I did not care. I did have to go through bag check but at every ride guess where every ones phone went? Yep good ole fanny pack. I carried my ID and Debit card in it just in case and a small bottle of ibuprophen. No carrying water cause we just got the free counter service water when we wanted. Easy.

I never thought I could do it, but I did! Surprised the heck out of me.
My husband asked me "what do you ACTUALLY touch and need in your purse while we are in the park?"
Turns out, not much. A couple of Advil fit in my phone case/wallet that fits in my pocket. A few other little things and that's it.
My purse was mostly an emotional thing. It just felt comforting to have it. I'm pretty minimal too, I don't carry much in my purse and it's very organized.

I think if you have kids with you, that's a completely different story.

I also see these huge backpacks, stuffed to capacity as if the family is going to summit Everest. Now that I don't get. Who needs all that stuff? I assume it's jackets for later, lots of snacks and water, etc.
We go rogue, buy drinks and food at the parks. No little kids with us so it's just easier.

It's incredibly liberating and light. I was not a believer until I really thought it through.

Yes!!!!!...to everything. I used to carry a large (but smaller than many I see) crossbody bag to the parks full of crap we never used. But I was so worried that we *might* need something in that bag that I just couldn't leave the room without it. Then one trip we were heading to DTD/DS for some shopping and lunch. I didn't see a need to take the park bag as we weren't going to be gone for more than a few hours. Our plan was to head back to the resort after lunch and then go to a park later in the afternoon. While we were at DTD/DS, we changed our mind (based on the weather forecast) and decided to have all of our purchases sent back to the resort and just head straight to AK. I kept telling my husband we couldn't do that because I didn't have *the bag*. He assured me we'd be fine -- that if we needed something from the bag, we'd just buy it. Guess what. We didn't need anything from the bag in over 4 hours in the park. And it was so freeing not to have that darn bag hanging on my body. That's the last trip the park bag went to a park with us -- though I'll readily admit that 10 years later I still need to bring the "security blanket/bag" to Disney "just in case", but it never even gets unpacked. I quickly realized that we never touched/needed 99% of the stuff in that bag and the 1% of things we did use (tissues, lip gloss, cash, credit card) would actually fit in a pocket or at least a much smaller bag.

I also don't understand the huge backpacks full of who knows what that some families carry around. I know that some people have little kids (though once the child is potty trained, they shouldn't need a backpack full of supplies), medical needs, or photography equipment that does require that type of space, but I'll bet 90% of the people lugging those backpacks around all day don't touch most of the stuff in them.

All I use now is either a small crossbody phone pouch (that still requires me to go through the bag check line but because it's so tiny, the security guards rarely look in it and just wave me through) or a clear phone pouch lanyard that doesn't require me to go through the bag check. We also go rogue and just buy drinks and snacks when we want them. It's vacation and I'm not a pack mule. I've traveled to the parks this way since our youngest child was 4. Five kids...never carried more than a crossbody bag in the parks.

I'm surprised more people don't bring sunscreen. I burn easily and usually end up in wdw during the summer so need to reapply.

We apply sunscreen before leaving the room. We usually head back to the room shortly after lunch for a swim/rest break and reapply before leaving again. We also carry the little sample size bottles in our pocket or on a carabiner clip attached to a belt loop. I find it much easier to refill the little bottles than to lug around a full-size bottle of sunscreen. I rarely have to refill the bottles since we don't usually need to reapply sunscreen in the parks.

I carry a camping cup made of silicone material that folds down flat and can go in a pocket. i think from LLBean. When we need water just open it up and fill at a fountain. If you don't like the water, bring a small packet of something (punch, lemonade) to add to it. Smaller/lighter than a water bottle and no wait for free CS water.

My Husband and I have never taken a bag to the parks. The reason we can do this I'm sure has a lot to do with the fact that we don't have kids yet. He always wears a pair of shorts with zipper pockets where we keep the wallet, phones, and my lip balm. We also have had a collapsible water bottle that clips on to his belt loop. We use the phones for photos, obviously have the wallet to have all our forms of payment, and the water bottle is super tiny when not in use but handy to have for free water!!! Our rule: If you dont need it then dont take it. I absolutely understand the people who are into photography taking bags and cameras and gear but for me in my situation im happy as long as I have some photos to remember my trip. I'm sure when we have kids someday we will have a bag but for now knowing there is one line in Disney that I'm not paying to stand in...well that's the true magic

DD18 and I just went alone without my hubs and small kiddos. We didn't take bags at all. It was AWESOME since I usually have a stroller and the whole 9 yards. We had our bands and our phones fit in our pockets. That's it!

Your phone stays in your hand all day??? That would drive me crazy. What about on rides?
