Bag to Take to the Parks

Which bag have you found to be the best one to take to the parks?

I want one that will hold all of DS2's stuff & a camera but isn't too bulky to take on the rides.

The bag I normally take just isn't going to cut it anymore now that DS has come along.

When we took our DD at 5mo I carried a small backpack. It was easier to carry on our back for walking through rides and show lines with her in our arms. Also, because it wasn't girly, my husband was happy to share carrying it around. Plus multiple compartments made it easy to throw diaper changing things and bottles in easy to reach compartments without digging through a huge bag!

I plan on keeping backpack in stroller. Also a mini hipster Style purse for camera, $, etc

I always use a backpack. My newest backpack is the Vera Bradley/Disney one. It's a good size (not too small/not too big). I knew it was going to rain one day and I was able to put my birkenstocks and my daughters crocs in it with room to spare. I also like a crossbody.

Sounds like a backpack is the bag of choice. Maybe I can find a good deal on one since all of the kids are back to school now & slot of the surplus school supplies are on clearance.

I have some LeSportsac cross body bags that I bring to WDW. They are incredibly lightweight and water resistant. Plus it is easy to access what I need with the bag right next to my hip. I believe they make backpacks as well.

I love my Overland Donner bag. Someone here recommended it. It even has two pockets for water bottles/sippie cups that fold flat if not being used.

When DD was little, we had a smallish Mickey Mouse messenger bag we used for her stuff. I have no idea where we got it, but I'm pretty sure I picked it up on sale somewhere because I new it'd come in handy!

The thing I liked best is that it hung easily over any stroller handles we had. A backpack is usually okay on an umbrella stroller, but won't hang from a standard stroller - or a Disney rental stroller. this worked great, and slid down far enough that it didn't over-balance the stroller when she wasn't in it. It was small enough to fit in the basket of even the Jeep umbrella stroller we had (which was small) when she wanted to recline to take a nap.

Since she's been out of strollers, we've gone to backpacks, though - DH doesn't like toting around messenger bags and I have to say I agree - backpacks and sling bags distribute the weight more evenly for carrying around all day.

So if you're taking a stroller, I'd suggest making sure whatever you purchase works with the stroller easily. Maybe take your stroller shopping with you to see what fits/works. I'd make sure it's something you don't mind carrying though, too - since you probably won't want to leave it when you park the stroller!

Backpack. I originally bought one of those Baggallini cross body messenger bags that were recommended. It felt very awkward when I it on and kind of small. A week before I left, I was shopping in Macy's w/ my daughters and a black Kipling backpack was on sale. I bought it thinking it would be my carry on for the plane. I ended up using that bag for the parks and it was much more convenient to have a full sized backpack with kids and all their stuff. I never used the Baggallini! I saw lots of people in the parks with Vera Bradley bags and they looked great.

I bought a high Sierra backpack from macys for our last trip. It's made for hiking or trekking through mountains or something, but it's super light weight and has room for a ton of stuff, while still being super comfy and relatively cool in the June heat. We had a stroller, so we did get breaks from carrying the whole time we were in the parks. Our next trip will be our last stroller trip and I'm going to have to really work on only bringing essentials!!!

Thanks for all of the tips/suggestions! I purchased a backpack from Target this weekend. I found it on clearance in the school section. It's got 3 compartments & spots for water bottles or sippys on the sides. I think it will work good & will fit in the basket of the stroller too.
