Bad school bus accidnt here in MI

1st and 2nd graders and some parents on their way to an apple orchard for a field trip. They were hit by a truck hauling steel. Please keep them in your thoughts, I know there were a bunch of kids and parents seriously injured.

I'm watching it on my TV right now. My DH works very, very close to this accident and I am very familar with the area. I've been to the apple orchard many times. The pictures look terrible and this is so terrible. Right now they are saying 4 6year old boys and one adult are hurt seriously.

OMG....I dread putting my children in school buses for field trips , I really do but I can't tell them they can't do it , I know I used to love it growing up myself. But one thing I can't still understand is why it's the law to have seatbelts in other vehicles but not school buses, I really don't understand that one!
Praying for those people to be ok.

Monroe County Kristy, they took the kids to a hospital in Ohio because it was closet.

There aren't seatbelts in buses because it's actually safer to have them not wear them. If the bus driver had to unlatch a bunch of seatbelts in the event of an accident, it could be much worse.

When I first saw this story on the internet this afternoon when I returned home from shopping I was a bit nervous because my DD took a field trip down to the Toledo Art Museum today. Luckily it wasn't her bus. My thoughts and prayers are with these families.
