I just had a friend return from 10 days at the Poly Conc. She told me the Conc is being renovated and they were in a "make shift" section at the end of a wing. I am a huge Dis fan (like to go 2-3 times per year). I was very jealous of her being Poly Conc. but it was horrible from her description bad service, bad attitude and bad food.

Anyone have recent experiences??? She told me if she doesn't go back for the next 5-10 years that would be fine with her and her family:(

I havent seen anything myself but I did read a trip report or thread I cant remember which one that discussed this. Said the keys were not working, food ran out, was messy, and the rooms werent that great
smoky, moldy and smelly
so....

I was at the Poly Concierge a few weeks ago and I'd definitely NOT return.

I posted about my trip a few weeks ago. But the bottom line is.... guests are NOT receiving what they are paying for while the Hawaii bldg is undergoing refurbs. There is a major difference in service from previous years ... and this is very disappointing for returning guests (guests who never stayed Poly conceirge prior to this year probably don't know what they are missing).

Also, I can also say the decline in service and disappointment at the Poly concierge has very little if anything to do with the FTP special packages. I did NOT feel that the parks or other areas of Disney were overwhelmed or overcrowded b/c of FTP ... also, we stayed at the AKL for two days prior to staying at the Poly and the service at AKL was EXCELLENT and everything I expected from Disney.

It's a shame that management at the Poly Concierge is taking advantage of their returning guests.

I would like to offer a different opinion. We were at the Poly concierge a couple of weeks ago (we go every summer). While the temporary facilities in the Tahiti building are certainly not as good as those in Hawaii, I would definitely not classify them as "horrible". The staff is not having an easy time of it, but they were as friendly as ever to us, and they were doing their best. Our room had no smoky or moldy smell, and my wife has a very sensitive nose. The place is more crowded than usual, since the Tahiti building is quite a bit larger than Hawaii. Bottom line: we will be back next year!

I wrote a more detailed report here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=418864

Well, after a day, this thread has 1 negative, 1 positive, 2 second-hand negatives and 1 good question.

I feel a bit better; however, I'm a first-time Concierger, so at least I won't miss the Wonder that Was. ;)

Does anyone know when this renovation is supposed to be complete??

Concierge is currently scheduled to return to Hawaii on Oct. 17. It should be within a week or so of this date.

The GM that the Polynesian had for years recently retired, so there are probably some adjustments going on right now with staffing etc.

Also the major renovations are still going on.

We stayed LVC in July. Granted this is the first time We've done concierge so I have nothing to compare it to, but we had an excellent stay. Staff was very friendly, never had food run out while we were there, no problems with guests or noise, elevators working fine, rooms clean with no smell, etc. Only saw concierge desk staff a couple of times and they were very helpful. I look forward to staying concierge again in the Hawaii building only for the fact of location.
I'm sure everyone has good and bad experiences. Ours were very good.

That's interesting hopefully things will remain the same as the Polynesian does an amazing repeat business.

I had a good trip there over the 4th of July but I have no problem believing the OP.

Was the resort full? Could they have moved to another section of the resort?

Or did they feel that the entire resort had the same quality of food, service, etc.?

A "makeshift" arrangement should have an additional discount, such as mid season rates during peak season, or AAA or Disney Club discount for a non-member.

A room may be smoky because the previous guests smoked cigarattes in it when they were not supposed to, or the room was too close to the entertainment area with tiki torches.

Stayed for a week in June. Was not greeted. Food was not good. Was not told that there were 2 rooms set aside as the lounge. Staff was not that friendly. Will not stay again. It was not that bad of a hotel. Just for the MONEY, you expect a whole lot more. Stay at the Wilderness lodge or Beach club. Complained in writing to Disney. Got a call. So Sorry, have a nice day. Bye. Staying at the Dolphin in October.

If there were problems during your stay why didn't you say something then? You more than likely would have had something done by WDW. After the fact there is not much they can do.

I just got back from the Poly in concierge. The room was clean and I did not smell any mold. I will say that it was not worth the money they charge. Some nights the food was good and some nights the food was bad. I also had to keep asking them for more coffee which was getting to be annoying. That kept a large pot for regular coffee and a small pot for decaff. And I only drink decaff. I had to wait around to find someone to get me more.

I though the pastries at night were average. Which was better for my waistline because I was not going back for more.

I really feel that this was not worth the money I spent I should of just gotten a regular room. The extras for me were not worth it.

I ignored the bad reviews before going thinking maybe it was just a fluke. But they were right.

And what was I going to Say? we were not greeted? Sorry! How could I say anything about not knowing about the 2 rooms set aside, if we did not know that there were 2 rooms set aside? The food was running out? We are working on it! Your out of Coke! Were getting more! You need a better selection! I'll make note of that! Sorry.

As I had said it was not worth the Money. Stay at the Beach Club.
