We reserved our Christmas vacation at the Fort back in March. 8 days from 12/19 - 12/27 filled with all sorts of fun things to do. Unfortunately all the plans had to be scrapped when we learned that we had to replace the furnace at an estimated cost of nearly $6000! OUCH! So our choices were limited. Freeze or Fort. Warmth won out so I spent yesterday cancelling reservations. Oh well. Sometime after the New Year we will sit down and assess our options for Christmas 2011 (or maybe sooner). To all of you who are going to the Fort, please share your trip reports and include lots of photos so we can imagine being there with you.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! :santa:

Awww... that's too bad. Those NY winters are just too harsh to go without heat. Hopefully you'll make it to the Fort soon.

Bummer bout the trip cancel,,
Good news is,ya'll are gonna be warm and comfy for the cold season and thats a great plus :thumbsup2,,

I hate being cold.

Boy, that stinks! But, that's how life is. Don't spend a lot of time stressing about it. The Fort will still be there when you are ready to visit. Even though Christmas at the Fort would be nice, you will have a nice warm and cozy Christmas at home.

So sorry, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and maybe you can be at the Fort next year.

You need some Disney magic with an extra helping of pixy dust. :wizard:
that happened to us as well, our neighbor told us they rent there furnance and hotwater heater from the gas Company. We found our basement flooded after a trip from WDW, at midnite. So after the insurance adjuster and the cleaning crew left, the gas folks showed (on a Sunday) and we were in business by 11am. Small monthly fee. No worries. I know that option isn't available every where but it saved us. Stay warm.

We had reservations for December 5 to January 1 and had to cancel because my husband had to have knee replacement. So, I just rescheduled for next year. He's 56 so I figure he should be recovered by then. Hope everyone at The Fort is having fun.

Boo! :sad2: I hope y'all get your trips asap. We just had a pricey unexpected car repair affecting our Christmas plans (not Disney related), too. You'd think Mercury was in retrograde or something. :hippie:

That's a bummer, they are forecasting the 80's for the 12/17...

Dude, I feel for you. Buy a lotto ticket.

I hope hubby does well. Mine is having double knee replacement sometime after Easter when his business slows down for the summer. He's 57. Everyone I know that has had knee replacements are glad they did it. Let us know how he progresses, please.
