Bad Bathrooms!!!

It's WDW's responsibility to provide clean bathrooms, but I think it's also the publics' responsibility to help keep them clean.

I'm with you but I have little faith in the general public to conduct themselves for the benefit of everyone.

I'm with you on that.
In both of our last trips, we commonly saw things that would have been unusual 10 years ago - a family of 5 got ponchos when it was raining, took them out of the plastic bags and just threw the plastic bags on the ground. Not only the kids - the adults too.
We also saw people buy Mickey bars from the cart vendors, unwrap tehm and throw the wrappers on the ground.
And, most of the people we saw do this were less than 10 steps from a garbage container (one that was not overfilled or overflowing).

Ohhhh man they would have got a mouthful from me-that is one of my BIG pet peeves. What the heck has happened to people??? I would never dream of throwing trash on the ground. Classless. The only time we have ever seen dirty bathrooms at WDW was Food and Wine at Epcot on a weekend. Too many drunk people and I guess CM's could not keep up. One wonderful guy threw up in the line at Malestrom.

I have gotten an email reply that someone will be contacting me soon regarding this thread and my concerns regarding upkeep of the bathrooms. Are there any other comments I should share when they reach me? Thanks!

We visited all four parks last week and were amazed at how clean everything was...until Saturday at MK when there was trash everywhere. Especially in the lines for Pirates of the Caribbean and the store near Barnstormer and in Tomorrowland. I can't imagine how people can just drop trash without giving it a second thought....

All the bathrooms (and I think I must have visited them all I had to go so often!) were spotless!

We were at DW 3/5-3/12 and I'll admit we encountered quite a few unsavory bathrooms. Don't get me wrong, we encountered many incredibly immaculate ones as well. BUT, the gross ones definitely "color" the experience. There was always soap and paper towels, but many stalls we saw were HORRIBLE. At Fantasmic, my 3 year old was desperate to use the potty and we were running and had to avoid most of the bathroom because of trash in the stall, pee on the seat, melted ice cream on the floor, spills and whatnot...Bathroom condition is a big deal to me, and I would've hoped that ALL of them would be immaculate not just SOME of them.

Wow.

I have honestly never encountered a dirty bathroom!

Guess I've either been lucky or blind.

We just returned January 30 and I have to say that all but 1 or 2 were very clean. Maybe I was just lucky as well! I am really a "nut" about cleanliness too!

Shan, please let us know what you hear from management. Thanks for taking the time to try and handle this for the rest of us. We appreciate your effort!:D

I think someone said it before but I'll reiterate. Why can't people just NOT make a mess when they use the facilities? Is it really that difficult?

I would rather that WDW spend less money on staff to clean up nasty people's stank mess in the bathrooms and elsewhere and spend more money on the fun stuff in the parks. We can help.

Hmm, I think you forget Ifontaine that everyone aren't filled with Disney as much as the people on this board are.
The most distressing issues of our time as a society are being reflected in everyone's comments here; which is a lack of respect for other people and no courtesy.
If you do not respect other people, you don't care about leaving a mess behind.
If do not respect yourself, you have no dignity in how you empty your bodily fluids.
The lack of courtesy is again reflected by those who choose to ignore the mess as it's being created or being the first to see it and fail to report it.

I am sure Walt would have a fit knowing that there are people out there like this who do this to his wonderful dream, as he took pride in everything.
Seems the world is becoming more un-Disney like every year.
:(

Follow up -

I did get a call from WDW earlier this week. They left a very friendly and lengthy message acknowledging my concerns and referencing not only this current email I sent but also an earlier email from me from last July regarding this same issue.

It is spring break for us and I've been busy taking the kids to various places so I haven't had a chance to call back, but I was pleased with what they said.

Course, I was pleased with what they said to me the first time they responded. Hopefully with enough people noticing and mentioning their dissatisfaction with the cutbacks in regards to not only cleanliness but also maintenance issues as well we will see some improvements.

Such things as the Orlando Sentinel's article... People do notice and if they are going to raise the price of admission then they need to somewhat meet the standards we are expecting. (Such as toilet paper, etc. being filled in the bathrooms.)

On a side note, I took the kids to a local theme park this week and all looked fairly clean. I hope I notice a difference when I go to WDW next trip.

Thanks!
