Has anyone done the Backstage Magic Tour? If so what was the experience like and did you enjoy it did you feel it was worth the price?

We are new annual pass holders and have been looking into doing this tour since before we were pass holders and now that we are pass holders we see there is a 15% discount available for this tour which will save us some money.

Thanks in advance.

I have done this tour twice. Once in 2012. MK was Main St and Utilidors, Epcot was backstage American Adventure, Studio was backstage Tower of Terror and AK was backstage at the Jammin Jungle Parade floats, castmember services, central shops, costuming and the horticultural nursery. In 2016, MK was Main St and Utilidors, Epcot was backstage American Adventure, Studio was backstage Tower of Terror and AK was talk with conservation education castmember. I would be interested to see what has changed since 2016. Both times the meal was at Whispering Canyon. I enjoyed both tours and got something different each time. You do a lot of getting on and off the bus.

Thank you. The website makes no mention of AK and HS being part of the tour. But everything sounds like a lot of fun that you mentioned.

I did the tour this past summer (July 2018) and I loved it. We didn't not go to AK or HS at all. The meal was at Whispering Canyon. I would like to do it again and I too waited awhile until I had the AP discount to use.

What did you see? Curious as to how much backstage park stuff you actually see. The description makes it sound like its mostly cast member working areas, like the prop shop and costume department, and not much park stuff.

Yes I've done it and yes I loved it and recommend it.
We have done the "current version"
The one that doesn't go to AK or HS
The places you go can always be subject to change but we did the following (I believe I got it all)
Epcot, American Adventure Animatronic tour
Central Shops, ride repair/refurbishment
Central Shops, sign making
Central Shops, costuming dept
Central Shops, decoration storage
Laundry Facility
Magic Kingdom, Utilidor tour, ended with viewing of FoF Parade
Lunch was at Wispering Canyon

We just did this tour in Sept. It is backstage intensive, thus the name of the tour. You see laundry, costuming, and the central shops. The only park backstage areas you go to is the American Adventure and the Utilidors. We did not go to AK or HS. If you haven't done any tours before, I suggest the Keys to the Kingdom tour at Magic Kingdom. You still get the AP discount on that and that is more about the park and you get to go on a couple of rides like Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. They can change what is seen on the tour at anytime, so YMMV.

I don't understand cutting Studio while under construction since you only went as far as Tower of Terror. But nothing for AK? Since the Epcot DestiNations tour takes you backstage to the Illumination barges and globe, I think it would be great to see backstage Rivers of Light. I don't think I would be inclined to do this tour again for higher price and less backstage parks. While I am dreaming, I would love to see a backstage tour of Beauty and Beast Show or Fantasmic.

Thank you. This is basically what is listed under the description for this tour on the website.

Thank you. I will look into the Keys to the Kingdom tour as well.

How did you like doing the tour in the summer heat? Is it mostly inside? I’m worried about a 7 hour tour in July heat, but it seems like it is mostly inside.

Outside for maybe one-third to one-half of the tour I would guess, But that does not mean 3.5 hours of the 7. There is a lot of time on the bus and also for lunch. So you might be outside a couple hours over that 7 hours.

That doesn’t seem too bad. Thanks!!

Not a whole lot of it was outside so the heat wasn't really an issue. The part that were outside were usually right away on the tour or when we were at the MK before the utilidoors it was for a comfort break (potty break) and there was shade nearby.
