i was wondering if you are carrying a backpack/purse in the parks to hold things like you wallet and camera can you bring these backpacks/purse on the rides? i assume the ones that don't go upside down would be ok right? what do you do with your purse, camera, or backback on the rides?

My DH keeps the camera in his fanny pack - it is a bigger one with the water bottle holders on the sides. I carry a smaller backpack with the rest of our gear, or for short days take my fanny pack. Obviously his fanny pack is fine on all of the rides - on those that have lap bars we turn our packs to the inside and they fit fine (and we are both Pooh sized). My backpack is fine on all of the rides, but on RnRR I loop the straps around my leg and it does fine. I think I remember EE having a pocket to put your bags in? Not sure though. All of our kids fit with no problem with their fanny packs.

We've never had any problems with purses or backpacks on disney rides. usually i just stick them under my legs... of course it's always a treat to not bring any bags or purses and just be free.

universal studios is another story though. they're very strict for some rides (like mummy). and they won't let you on with ANYTHING. we had a camera bag attached to a belt and they said no. and i've seen them make a fuss over someone carrying sunglasses... there is lockers right outside the ride, but it's still a hassle. i can understand purses or backpacks but a camera bag or a fanny pack that's belted to you?

not all, but many of the rides at WDW have elasticized 'pockets' to hold loose items or small bags while you are riding. some of those rides that we rode and I remember seeing those 'pockets' are Space Mtn, Expedition Everest, Kilamanjaro Safari, Soarin', and I'm sure there are others. JUST BE SURE TO REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR BAG WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE THE RIDE. I remember one girl, right after we got off and the coaster left, started crying because she had left her items on the ride. It'd be a pain to try and find which car you were riding in. Others we'd just tuck our bag under our legs or an arm, like Tower of Terror, Splash Mtn, Test Track etc.
Enjoy!! :goodvibes

I use a Nike drawstring bag. It's so lightweight as the bag itself weighs practically nothing and so carrying it around all day (even with drinks, jacket, and camera inside) is extremely easy. If it's splashed with water, the stuff inside is still protected. Plus, the drawstring is quite tight so I know that nothing will fall out.

I always carry a small backpack or a purse with me in the parks and have never had a problem. As someone already mentioned there are pockets for bags on quite a few rides, and for those rides that don't and seem a little rough (i.e. ToT, RnR, and BTMRR) I just put the straps around my ankle.

I definitely learned my lesson after putting one of my shopping bags underneath my feet on ToT and it flew up on the ride! Luckily someone caught it and gave it to me after the ride. :rotfl:
