Back to Back trips in August-The How Could You's Ride Again!- Final Thoughts 4/14

Wow - what a great MK morning!!! I can't believe how much you were able to do and in JULY!!! :woohoo:

Sorry to hear about the AP...but glad you got it fixed relatively quickly.

Linda, what a fun update. I tried taking pics on BTMR and was so afraid I was going to lose the camera that I quickly tucked it back in my bag. :rotfl2: You got great shots on it.

And, yes, I am now singing Zip A Dee Do Da in my head.

You got a lot done in the morning (even that awful Stitch ride).

Tell your son he has great taste in shirts.

Great pics! :)

Thanks!

Wow - what a great MK morning!!! I can't believe how much you were able to do and in JULY!!! :woohoo:

It is always better to get there early! ;) We did have a great morning, but it was HOT!

Sorry to hear about the AP...but glad you got it fixed relatively quickly.

Me too!

Linda, what a fun update. I tried taking pics on BTMR and was so afraid I was going to lose the camera that I quickly tucked it back in my bag. :rotfl2: You got great shots on it.

Thanks. I was sliding around in the seat, had my legs trying to brace myself and DH next to me. It was pretty funny.

And, yes, I am now singing Zip A Dee Do Da in my head.

Yep! Sorry! ;)

You got a lot done in the morning (even that awful Stitch ride).

Not a fan of Stitch, either. But DNephew wanted to check it out so I took one for the team!

Tell your son he has great taste in shirts.

Sure will! Have to represent the home teams!

Good morning everyone!! Hoping to get another update on here later today. Hope you all have a great day!! Little cool here today. Pulled the blue jeans out of the closet for the first time since summer. :sad1:

And it's continued to get colder as the day went on. I am so not ready for this weather.

We left off headed to lunch. We decided to go to Pecos Bills since we were right there. This was my first time at PB in a lonnnng time. The boys had (wait for it......) cheeseburgers. :lmao: and I got the Taco Salad. DS wanted to try the root beer slush, so Dnephew got that as well. DH and I had diet Cokes. $53.17 for lunch. I thought it was OK. The boys enjoyed their cheeseburgers, but neither liked the slushes.

We wandered on over to New FL because I saved room for LeFou's Brew!!! The boys were still thirsty so we also picked up 2 waters and an orange soda. DS wanted to "try" my brew. By the time I got to it, he had helped himself to a good bit of it! I offered to buy him one of his own, but he didn't think he would drink it all! :upsidedow Guess not since he'd helped himself to at least 1/4 of mine. Ah well. Saved me a few calories. ;)

Time to shop!! We headed into The Big Top. It was nice and cool in there. DNephew really wanted to find something fun for himself (and I would've sworn I took a photo of him in his purchase-Mr. Mark would've been proud) but I cannot find it. :sad2: He bought himself the Sorcerer Mickey hat. DS had to have a new pair of sunglasses because he broke the ones he brought from home. Crazy things were nearly $20 and he wore them all of 1 day. We browsed the treat stations but passed on any more food for now.

Time to hit a few more rides. We went back into Tomorrowland and used our FPs for SM. Then we went to FL to ride these...well, the boys did. This Mama doesn't spin.

232323232%7Ffp734%3A4%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D3983483377336nu0mrj

And this would be why-do you see DS madly turning that T-cup? I would be sicker than a dog!!

232323232%7Ffp734%3B3%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D3983489744336nu0mrj

Like I said, it was HOT!! The boys were done. They wanted to head back to the resort and swim. Truth be told, I was done as well. On the way out DNephew wanted to shop a bit in the Emporium for gifts for his brothers and sister and mom and dad, so we browsed a bit through there and then headed out to bus.

The boys decided to rest in the room and do some video gaming. DH and I headed down to the quiet pool where he swam some laps and I did some laundry and caught up on my note taking. Why is it that the laundry rooms are so stinking warm?! I don't think the air was on at all in there. And when I was checking out the one at POP, it was warm as well. :confused3 And I must say, they really need to get their machines in order. All 4 resorts this summer had numerous machines on the fritz.

232323232%7Ffp54434%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D399%3B85%3C256336nu0mrj

After everyone was well rested, we made our way back over to MK and wandered over to Harbor House to eat dinner. The boys had chicken strips and fries and DH and I had the Tuna sandwiches. VERY GOOD!! Also had some sodas and water. $48.44 total.

After dinner, we went over to Haunted Mansion. This was a big deal for DS. He really disliked this ride in the past. Dark rides scared him. (all stems from when we took him into ITTBAB when he was 4. The spiders coming down from the ceiling made him lose his ever loving mind. He was done with any movies or dark rides after that. Guess we scarred him for life-mother of the year award, I know.) Anyway, because DNephew really wanted to check it out, DS braved the mansion and went on in. They enjoyed goofing around in the graveyard, and found the ride entertaining. But not enough to do it again.

Next, I forced them onto "old faithful" for nostalgia sake. :rolleyes1

232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv%3A62%3A%3Dot%3E242%3B%3D7%3B%3A%3D55%3B%3DXROQDF%3E2%3A8%3C76%3B348245ot1lsi

Each time we ride this, we call our friends that lived near DL. :wave2: Wayne!! We hold the phone out just so he can "enjoy" the torture!

232323232%7Ffp54386%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D399%3B85%3C258336nu0mrj

Now that you are all singing along "It's a Small World after all". Let's get off the boats and head out to find a spot to see the castle show and Wishes, shall we?

232323232%7Ffp5437%3B%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D399%3B85%3C262336nu0mrj

I didn't take photos tonight since I'd gotten some the night before from a much better location. Instead I opted to get out from behind the lens and just enjoy the shows.

Then we headed off into Liberty Square to get a seat for the parade.

232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv%3A568%3Dot%3E242%3B%3D7%3B%3A%3D55%3B%3DXROQDF%3E2%3A74396%3B%3A%3A245ot1lsi

The boys grabbed some drinks and then wasted time on their devices once again.

232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv4%3B35%3Dot%3E242%3B%3D7%3B%3A%3D55%3B%3DXROQDF%3E2%3A743%3A4%3C%3A6245ot1lsi

Don't they look excited waiting for the parade to begin?

And just like that, it's all over.....

232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv5%3C38%3Dot%3E242%3B%3D7%3B%3A%3D55%3B%3DXROQDF%3E2%3A743%3A44%3B8245ot1lsi

It was time to make our way out of the park. SLOOOOWWWWLY! We shall stop for some photos along the way.......

Making our way out of the MK, I stop for some castle photos.

Making our way down Mainstreet!

232323232%7Ffp73499%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D3983485289336nu0mrj

Usually by this time, I am tearing up because we have to leave. Knowing I'd be back in Walt's Magical Kingdom in just a few, short weeks made it sooo much easier to head on out.

232323232%7Ffp54395%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D3983484%3B%3A6336nu0mrj

So ends our day at the MK. We caught a bus rather quickly and were back to our room and in bed snoring away.

Up next.....our last full day in WDW. It's pick your park day! Where do you think we opted to go?

Wednesday August 31st. Our last full day in Disney (for the boys-don't forget, I still have another whole week's vacation coming again).

So today was Pick Your Park Day. The day to return to the park you loved most-or the day you go back to the park that you didn't finish doing everything you really wanted to do. DS was disappointed with our prior Epcot time-he didn't get much World Showcase time (AKA didn't get to spend enough time in Japan).

So it was back to Epcot we go!

DH elected to stay behind and go for a jog around the Boardwalk. We had a quick breakfast in the room, stopped in the Marketplace to fill our mugs and I picked up a pin for DS (still no Beach Club pin-:worried:) and headed out to International Gateway by 8:45. We walked quickly over to Living with the Land and got FPs for Soarin' and rode it standby and then headed across the park to ride everyone's (everyone but me, that is) favorite TT. We rode standby over there, picked up FPs for later and then headed back across the park to use our FPs for Soarin'.

232323232%7Ffp7349%3B%3Enu%3D39%3A5%3E%3A42%3E567%3E2%3A96%3A42658245ot1lsi

My pictures are very limited today and most were from my cellphone so I am thinking I left my camera in the room for the morning/afternoon.

We stopped in Mousegears and did some shopping. I bought some more pins, picked up the Wilderness Lodge pin for DD collection of our resorts pins and the AP pin that I didn't get last year for Epcot's 40th celebration-yes they still had some, and then a Sorcerer of MK pin for DS that he really liked.

By then it was time to head back to use our FPs for TT. Are you counting? That is 3 rides on this ride this morning. :faint: DNephew really wanted to do MS again but this time they wanted to do the Orange side, so I let them go at it and people watched from a bench for a bit.

Time to head to the World Showcase (seeing as that was the whole reason for going to Epcot in the first place :rolleyes2). Everyone was hungry. So we headed off to a most amazing place for lunch..... :lmao: Yep-Liberty Inn in America. Where the boys had.........oh, come on. You all have this down pat by now I am sure!

A cheeseburger and fries for one, chicken strips and fries for the other. I had a Ceasar salad..add 3 diet cokes and you get $35.19 for lunch. Meanwhile back at the ranch (ah, I mean resort) DH ate at Beaches and Cream and had the Turkey Club with a fruit cup and an Iced Tea - $18.61. :scared1:

We made our way over to Japan (i.e. Mitsukoshi) and proceeded to spend............ a very long time in here. :surfweb: We purchased a lucky owl, a lucky cat and some Pokémon candy. Aren't you excited? :rolleyes2

Sorry, I was called away yesterday and just sort of dropped my post off.

We left off just finishing in the Mitsukoshi store. As we came out, we noticed it was time to make some candy! DH and DNephew each were chosen from the crowd to select an animal for Miyuki to design. Here she is working on DNephew's lion.

And the dragon you see hanging is DS choice.

232323232%7Ffp54379%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D399%3B85%3C272336nu0mrj

Apparently, the kids used to be able to keep their candy until "someone" in the FDA decided that wasn't safe.

We moved on from candy and continued exploring the countries a bit. In Morocco, DNephew discovered a KidCot station. And so began our trek all around the World again! We stopped for gelatto in France, watched the King Arthur show in England, rode the 3 Cabelleros in Mexico (AKA It's a Small World "Mexican Style"), thought we'd ride Maelstrom in Norway but the line was out the door :faint:. Seriously, when does that ever happen?!

We stopped for another treat in Germany. Can't pass the Karamel Kuche without picking out a little something (like a pecan cluster and a dark chocolate dipped caramel), and got some water.

We continued our way around the KidCot Stations to finish them all off and then decided it was time to head out for a rest. Off to IG to head back to BC! Love that back door exit to the Epcot area resorts.

After a short rest, it was determined dinner was in order. Where shall we go tonight?

Let's head over to the Boardwalk area, shall we?! Big River Grille is a great place to go for a bite to eat. No reservations needed. ::yes::

The skies were looking a bit ominous this evening. We had opted to sit outside to avoid the freezing chill of the air conditioning. Our first table did not have an umbrella, so as soon as one opened up, we moved over and under the protection of the canopy of the restaurant as well.

232323232%7Ffp5436%3B%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D398348%3C53%3B336nu0mrj

It continued to grow darker on that side of the lake, but amazingly enough, we never got one drop on our side.

232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv798%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D398348624%3A336nu0mrj

We enjoyed quite the lightening show as well.

232323232%7Ffp543%3C%3B%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D3983485%3B%3A3336nu0mrj

Our wonderful meal consisted of crab dip, a mahi sandwich, and a child's cheeseburger and child's chicken sandwich. DH enjoyed a lager while the kids and I just finished our drinks we had grabbed from our Marketplace fill up station before we wandered across. Oh, and they also got a beverage with their kids' meals so DS undoubtedly had a root beer and I think his cousin did the same. Total damage= $51.32

232323232%7Ffp73483%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D39834777%3A4336nu0mrj

One last shot of the weather.

232323232%7Ffp73494%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D399%3B85%3C278336nu0mrj

We debated what to do after dinner, but ultimately decided to head on into Epcot and hope Illuminations would be showing. DS had saved room for desert and wanted a funnel cake. We meandered over to America and grabbed desert and then headed to Italy to find a spot for the show. DNephew videoed the event tonight, so I did not take any photos as it was sort of spitting rain drops off and on. I was worried about my camera (and as you will see a bit later in the girls' report, I need not have worried so much).

We enjoyed a great show and then wandered back into the Boardwalk area. The boys were by no means ready to call it a night. It was our last evening there after all. So remember that Surrey photo from DH and my walk the other evening? Well, that is what we decided to do!

232323232%7Ffp54394%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D399%3B85%3C27%3A336nu0mrj

We closed up the shop and had the last ride of the night!

The boys decided they wanted a late night swim.

232323232%7Ffp54359%3Enu%3D333%3A%3E6%3C9%3E46%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D398348%3B23%3A336nu0mrj

232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv7%3B97%3Dot%3E242%3B%3D7%3B%3A%3D55%3B%3DXROQDF%3E2%3A74394944245ot1lsi

And while they did that, I headed off to the Marketplace and then Fittings and Fairings in search of my favorite H2O lotion. It was the one they used to leave in your room before they started off on all the fruity scented stuff. The Bath Aquatics Natural Spring moisturizing lotion!!! LOVE IT!!! Lucky for me, they had 1 tube left. $12.41 after my big AP discount! But I didn't care. It's the little bit of Disney I took home with me. And when I put it on, I can close my eyes and dream!

Next up.... our final Disney morning and time to check out!

Linda, forgive me...I don't know how I got a few updates behind.

Sorry you don't have a picture for me to show Mark...he loves seeing the kids in the hat pictures.

Don't you love when you get yourself something special and the kids decide to share? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Glad DS gave in and rode HM with his cousin. :thumbsup2

I have to remember to do that...just enjoy Wishes and NOT take pictures for a change.

I'm with you...not a fan of Test Track.

And I have yet to see the candy making lady after all these trips. :headache:

Sounds like a fun last evening with the surrey bike (although Mark and I could never do that...I don't think either one of us would have the strength to pedal them), and a fun evening swimming.

Linda, forgive me...I don't know how I got a few updates behind.

No forgiveness needed. I was updating quite a bit the last couple of days-want to move on to the girls' trip.

Sorry you don't have a picture for me to show Mark...he loves seeing the kids in the hat pictures.

I'm sorry too. Maybe I'll hunt up an old one just for fun just for Mr. Mark!

Don't you love when you get yourself something special and the kids decide to share? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Tell me about it!! Happens ALL the time.

Glad DS gave in and rode HM with his cousin. :thumbsup2

Me too!

I have to remember to do that...just enjoy Wishes and NOT take pictures for a change.

A most awesome spot to do this is just outside of Gaston's Tavern. You have such a different view, but you "feel" the fireworks. It was the most spectacular thing ever!

I'm with you...not a fan of Test Track.

:sad2:

And I have yet to see the candy making lady after all these trips. :headache:

Wow!! I can't believe it! You should plan that one into your day just once. It is amazing how she takes a white ball of taffy and creates such masterpieces.

Sounds like a fun last evening with the surrey bike (although Mark and I could never do that...I don't think either one of us would have the strength to pedal them), and a fun evening swimming.

That is the second time we've surried! The hard parts are getting up the hills by the bridges on either end.

Yikes! I don't know how I missed all these updates. :(

Your MK day looks so fun! Rides, parade, pool break, fireworks, food, etc.! Dang - you did it ALL! :woohoo:

And Epcot - I love Epcot. We totally FAILED Epcot this year. I'm glad you were able to return on pick-a-park day to finish things off. I always do that too - our last day is always open for whatever we didn't finish or need to do again. Love that tradition!!

LOVE the kids in their hat pictures. I will show Mr. Mark tonight when he gets home from work.

We did try to pack a lot into our days since we had a newbie with us. We tried to show him as much as we could and still have a bit of time to enjoy the resorts. Sometimes that is really tough.

Really cute pics! :goodvibes

Thanks

LOVE the kids in their hat pictures. I will show Mr. Mark tonight when he gets home from work.

Hope he likes them. I think I have some others from the trip with the girls this summer.

Thursday August 1st.
We had arranged a late check out ahead of time, so we didn't have to rush to pack up the bags and had time for a fun breakfast.

We went downstairs to Cape May Café and enjoyed the buffet and the characters.

232323232%7Ffp73486%3Enu%3D39%3A6%3E%3B95%3E755%3E2%3A97%3B95846245ot1lsi

And DNephew got one last birthday desert!

232323232%7Ffp83232%3Euqcshlukaxroqdfv665%3B%3Dot%3E242%3B%3D7%3B%3A%3D55%3B%3DXROQDF%3E2%3A7439%3B634245ot1lsi

Then the CM came back around with a birthday card signed by all the Cape May characters.

Goofy joined in on the singing and wish making!

It was time for us to head out. DH had invited the boys to go to the marina at the Contemporary and take out one of the Sea Raycers, but would you believe, they opted to take a short swim and wanted to go shopping?! :confused3

I had an errand to run. DNephew had dropped a piece from his "Make your own Droid" at DHS. Seeing as I was the only one with a usable park ticket (thank you AP) I headed off to DHS for a quick morning trip!

I headed off on a nice, leisurely walk.

Stopped and took a few photos for a friend!

I think I may need to try this resort next!

I made my way into the park and headed off towards Star Traders to see about replacing the Mickey Ear hat that was lost.

I had a little bit of time left, and they were just letting in for a show that I had never seen before. I wandered in to check it out. I was really glad I hadn't waited in any line. It was cute, but not worth waiting for. You stand throughout the show. And the premise is you are helping Jack Sparrow save the Pearl.

It was time to make my way back to the resort to pack up. I thought mayyyyyybe the boys would have gotten things together. :rolleyes1 Should've known better. So I got the bags all packed up and called for bell services to store our bags until time for ME.

Now, remember the refrigerator housekeeping man from our arrival day? Well, a knock on the door comes, and I assumed it would be bell services to pick up our bags.

Nope, it's our housekeeper "friend" and he says (no joke), "What do you need now?" Seriously Dude?! I was dumbfounded. First, because I didn't even call for housekeeping and second, because of his attitude. I just said, I didn't call for housekeeping. We were waiting on Bell services and didn't need him in the slightest! And then I shut the door! :lmao:

Bell services came shortly after that, and they politely took our bags downstairs. We checked the time and decided we could make a quick trip to DTD to shop.

We headed off via the bus. The wait for the bus to DTD took longer than I'd hoped and really cut into our shopping time. We made a stop in WOD and picked up a couple of T-shirts for DNephew's brothers and grabbed some rock candy for DS (that is his one "must have" treat each time he goes-not sure why. Just a glorified sucker after all.) Used my AP discount and we were out of there. We made a run by the Lego Store.....

I think we may have stopped by the pin station to check for the BC pin again without any luck, and then made a dash into the Christmas shop without purchasing anything and then decided to grab an EOS To Go for a sandwich on our flight home. We purchased the All American, 2 Kids pizzas and of course, I had to have the Best BLT! We also grabbed a couple muffins and fruit cup and some grapes. $31.27 using the AP discount!

Lunch in hand, it was time to dash out of there! The wait in Earl of Sandwich took a bit too long as well and we didn't want to chance a wait for the bus. We grabbed a cab! But I don't think the dude really knew where he was going as he made a couple of phone calls to his company and was looking at the GPS on his phone. We were sweating it out that we'd make it in time to catch our bus. But thankfully, we made it with about 10 minutes to spare.:woohoo:

One thing about being so rushed at the end, we really didn't have a chance to be sad about leaving....until we got on the bus.

We enjoyed our sandwiches while waiting for our flight. Grabbed a couple of sodas after clearing security and had an uneventful flight home. We had seats in the very back of the plane and I ended up with no one beside me. :woohoo: I spent my time going through and organizing the receipts and adding bits to my notes.

DSIL met us at the airport and we were quickly back at their house. We spent that night and the next day at their house and caught up on all the laundry. DH, DS and I headed out for home on Saturday morning.

We made a stop in Ohio at my favorite rest area and I took a couple of photos in honor of Kathy (of KatMark fame)!!!

We had to stop to pick up DD who had gone camping with a friend's family while we were away on the boys' trip. Incidently, the same family we will be heading off with shortly on the girls' trip!!! We were home in time for dinner and some relaxation!

Next up........plotting and planning for the second half of this Back to Back Trip!!!

GAH - I'm so glad there is a second half!!!

Your CM breakfast looked so fun - nice that they made a big deal of DNephew's birthday. :lovestruc

Loved the DHS photos - such a pretty park when you take the time to look around a little.
