Just got back from sailing on the Wonder for the 3 day (May 1-4) and then hopped back on for the 4 day (May 4-8).
This was our 7th cruise but the first time doing a back to back cruise.
Alot of people had questions on how this worked so I wanted to let everyone know how it went for our family. We were told to meet at the shore excursion desk at 9:15 am on Sunday and were personally escorted off the ship by a castmember. We only had to walk a very short distance to another area where 2 more cast members rechecked us in for our next cruise. We had to present our passports and customs card and we were then reissued our new key to the world cards. We are castaway club members so they even had our new lanyards ready for us. We were then personally escorted down the escalator, through the terminal, and then back onto the ship. The entire process went very quickly. Once onboard we were allowed to walk around the ship and even use our stateroom.
This was the best part. Since we had the entire ship to ourselves I took the time to check out the Category 1, 2, 3, and sideways staterooms that everyone has been talking about. I asked a castmember and was told that as long as the door was open to the stateroom we were allowed to go inside to look. The Roy Disney Suite was so gorgeous. The handicapped rooms on Deck 7 in the back were also really nice.
We had the same room on both cruises so we didnt have to unpack anything. We left everything in the room.
Some more perks to back to back cruises: you get 2 castaway club gifts, 2 tshirts for your kids from the graduation ceremony, and time to attend any of the shows you missed from the first cruise.
Unfortunately our room location was really bad. We were in room 2043 which was directly under Wavebands (the bar). Every night at 11:00 when it opened we heard the songs through the walls and the stomping on the floor when they line danced. It was really noisey.
We made it to Castaway Cay both times. The weather was really nice and the island was so beautiful. It was really fun renting bikes and riding to the observation tower. My kids loved snorkeling and they were able to see alot of fish. The kid section in the middle was closed I guess due to low tide.
I wrapped a case of water in brown paper (the kind you use when you mail a package) and wrote our name and stateroom number on it. The guy took it without even asking me what was in it. I did bring soda on board in our rolling cooler. We asked our stateroom host to get us an igloo cooler to store the soda in and at first she didnt know if they had one, but then I explained on previous cruises we were always able to get one. She returned later on with a nice big cooler for us. She added ice to it pretty frequently so everything stayed pretty cold.
I also found out that you can get small refrigerators from guest services but you have to ask for them quick because they dont have many. I think they give them out to people that have to store medicine in them. We actually had an antibiotic with us that was for my son who had a sinus infection and guest services kept it for us in their own refrigerator. Since they are open 24 hours, it was easy to retrieve it when we needed it.
I also saw a diapie genie in the hallway when I was walking around as well and an environcaire filter. They might be available from guest services as well.
If anyone has any questions, please ask.
