Back Lot Tour MGM

I was recently reading that the Backlot Tour at MGM is getting a face litft and opening on April 1st. We are going down there March 26-April 3. Does anyone know what they are doing? If it is still opening on April 1st? Is the first day of reopening a ride the worst day to go? I mean should we go there as scheduled in a touring book or will it be nuts? I remember when I was a kid and went the year it opened we waited 3-4 hours to get on the dang thing. And now all I can remember is seeing the Golden Girls house and a tiny boat in a pool......

They're putting in a new attraction back there. If I remember right it is going to be stunt show based on a show they have going at Disneyland Paris. I don't know what they are doing to improve the Backlot Tour attraction itself.

Hopefully they have improved the back lot tour. When we went right before they closed it was pretty lame. They had redone the props and things because of the construction so it was like driving around in a parking lot. They took you around the back of Catastrophe Canyon coming in. I didn't like it at all. There was no building to ride through and look in the windows.

I actually don't know if it was closed because of the backlot tour getting a facelift, or to allow them to work on the new attraction. Which isn't related to the backlot tour from what I understand.

Although it says it will re-open April 1st, I've heard quite a lot saying that it won't open that early.

Hopefully while it was closed they redid the tour. Since they started working on the stunt show they had changed the backlot tour. Hopefully since progress is being made on the stunt show they can "fix" the backlot tour.

I hope they'll make it exciting ths time around. Other than Catastrophe Canyon, this tour is so blah.
