Back home with great MAKEUP tips for WDW

WOW!!!!

They worked GREAT!

I did find that I wanted a touch up of concealer in the afternoons... but this was at 5 pm, after a day at the parks and a couple hours by the Polynesian's pool. I would touch up with a little concealer on my red marks (old acne scars mostly) and under my eyes, blend a bit of foundation over and then dust myself all over with the Soft bronzer, finish with the finishing dust! This took seconds and I looked ready to go. I was AMAZED at how well everything wore.

Other pluses: I get at least one (if not three) ugly big deep pimples at my period time each month. I have been using everyday minerals for several weeks prior to this trip and... this month... the little bit of pimple I got was significantly smaller and healed up extremely quickly. AND the makeup covered it!

Also, last year after a week at Disney wearing regular makeup I had awful breakouts by week's end. Not this time! AND-- just as someone else posted, it made going thru security with my makeup much better-- all I had to put in my little baggie was a tube of mascara and a lip gloss.

I always wear a moisturizer with sunscreen anyway, so I don't know how much the minerals contributed to this, but I never wore a hat and got not one bit of sunburn (I am fair and generally burn after a full day in the sun no matter what time of year.)

The Soft bronzer is one of the best products I have ever used-- it gives a lovely all over glowy look that doesn't look like you've used bronzer.

I LOVE my Everyday Minerals!

This is what I use and love:
intensive formula foundation (I am fairly light neutral)
email me blush
the basic concealer
Soft bronzer
finishing dust

I bought the premium foundation brush and I love it. Next time I order I will probably get a Kabuki and concealer brush, but I am also happy with the performance of my Sephora brushes that I already had. I am using a powder brush for the bronzer and another powder brush for the dust, a "blending" bruch for concealer and a blush bruch for blush. On my trip I used a Mary Kay travel brush kit and they worked great, too.

I even used the email me blush on my princess before our breakfast at the castle-- it looked lovely on her and not tacky like makeup can (usually) look on a 4 year old...

I know this thread is mostly about mineral makeup (which I'm about to go order samples of, thank you!), but I wanted to tout Kiss Me Mascara, by Blinc Inc.

I've been using that mascara for a little over 2 years now, and have converted dozens of my friends and family! I have pretty bad allergies, so my eyes are always tearing and watering, but this stuff holds up unbelievably well! No smudging, no smearing, no wearing off. I tried it after reading about it in a magazine (Allure, if memory serves), and couldn't believe how well it worked.

I discovered it on eBay at a discount a short time later, and use the same eBay seller all the time now.

(hops down off soapbox) There. I'm done now. Gotta go order my mineral makeup samples!

What I've found works for me is to use a tinted moisturizer (I've used Neutrogena, Stilla - buy this at sephora, and the Oil of Olay tinted brands) and a pressed or loose powder. I'm so terribly afraid of sun damage so I like to lather on all the extra protection I can get. I've found that the combination of the two works really well for me when visiting amusement parks and when snowboarding. I had a friend comment recently on how the combo made my skin look flawless. I may try out the mineral powders though. I've been eyeing them at Sephora for a while but just haven't taken the plunge quite yet.

I just ordered my essential minerals samples- thanks for the info! I hope they get here in time to try out before WDW!

Does anyone have a suggestion for what kind of brush to use with mineral foundations if you don't buy one from the company?

For those of you who order Blinc Mascara from E-bay...from whom do you order? Is it new? How do they get if for less? I'd like to give it a try, at a reasonable price, but I'm leary of ebay. Can someone make a suggestion...I trust my fellow DISers! :thumbsup2

Since I started buying Kiss Me Mascara on eBay almost 2 years ago (as opposed to the company's own site), I've purchased from *makeupgirl* Here's the link (if the board will let me post it????)

http://cgi.ebay.com/L-K-Blinc-Kiss-...9QQihZ017QQcategoryZ11869QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

She's great about communication, fast shipping and fantastic prices. Right now, she has the mascara for $14.95 plus $5 shipping. (For comparison's sake, Sephora has the same item for $24.00!!!) And she has all shades available too.

Also, she frequently includes sample sizes, which are FANTASTIC to travel with, and little treats in my packages! Love her!

I got so excited, I forgot to answer half the questions you asked!!! I believe she buys wholesale from Blinc, which is how she's able to offer such low prices.

All her products are factory sealed in original packaging. I've never had a single problem with any of the transactions or products with this eBayer!

I am so glad this was mentioned. I ordered and have used it for 3 days-i really LIKE it :p . It is very light feeling no matter how many layers used (I have used up to 2 plus the balancing powder). i am glad you posted that it stayed on while on vacation-esp. WDW!!! Thanks! :thumbsup2

I just ordered the EM sample kit. Thanks for the tip! I've been wanting to try some mineral makeup for several months now, but I didn't want to waste the money if I ended up not liking it. My daughters are required to wear makeup for a Christmas production they're in, so this will be perfect for that, too!

her sale ended before I could order...will she put more up again? TIA :)

Oops! Just found some more :woohoo: ; silly me! :p

Oh my gosh, thank you so much. I just received my em sample pack and I love it. I have the Sheer cover but like the Em much better. I cant wait to order the full size. That was a great make up tip.

thanks to my fellow DISers I too am a Bare Minerals fan!!!! I love it!! I have Rosecia and some old acne scares, gotta tell you I was a bit sceptical...sorry horrible speller well anyways I love it!!!! Huge fan of the swirl tap and buff!!!! Bought the starter kit from sephora for 60 bucks. Now I will have to try Blinc!!! Thank you!!!!! I cant wait to see how it wears on our up coming trip in Dec to WDW!!!!! :thumbsup2

Love this thread! How about body lotions? Although my heart is in balmy Florida, the physical me is beginning to suffer its annual dehydration from New England's weather. (No matter that it was 67 degrees last week - my skin KNOWS it's November!)

What does everyone prefer? :Pinkbounc

I like Banana Boat's Aloe Vera lotion. It's good and it's cheap. I bought it for after sun, but now I use it year round.

Chiming in to say THANK YOU!! I ordered the Everyday Minerals sample kit after reading about it here, and I gotta tell you, that stuff is awesome!! I am a 40 year old teenager (very oily skin, adult acne too), and I was a bit apprehensive about the level of coverage and shine control. Well, it does a wonderful job! My skin feels better already- I'm looking forward to fewer breakouts, too.

After using the samples for a weekend, I ordered the "I Can't Believe It" kit. It came super fast, and I love it all! I got the mint color corrector concealer, and it covers redness from blemishes really well. The Light Pink blush is also really good- I mix it with the Finishing Dust to reduce ruddiness (I don't know how putting on pink finishing dust can ease redness, but it WORKS!). the eye shadows are really wonderful, too- the colors are pretty, and as long as you use just a little bit at a time, it's never too heavy or chalky looking.

Thanks again for the great makeup tips- I'm looking forward to bringing my mineral makeup with me to WDW in January!!

I got 2 purse size blinc mascara from e-bay today. I hope I like them I wear contacts and suffer from watery eyes so from what I read this just my be the way to go!

OK, I just ordered the free trial kit. I will anxiously await getting it. I have rosacea and always wear makeup out (most of the time around the house too!). I'm interested to see how it will hold up throughout the day. I get such great tips from these boards! :thumbsup2
