I posted a quick overview on the Disneyland boards but want to just give a quick overview of the DVC part.

We went to Disneyland the week before Easter 3/30-4/6. We stayed Fri-Wed at Grand Californian, Wed-Thur at Disneyland hotel, and Thur-Fri at Grand Californian again. For some reason we could not get Wed night at the VGC so we used points at Disneyland.

The rooms at VGC were very nice. No complaints at all, everything looked great and was in working order. The 1st room we stayed in was on the 1st floor facing Paradise Pier and the 2nd room was on the 4th floor facing Paradise Pier with a fantastic view!

Went up to the World of Color Viewing area once and that was just gorgeous! We didn't watch World of Color from there just wanted to check out the view. We did watch it from our room and had a pretty good view.

I have to say the sliding doors were pretty decent in soundproofing because when we had them open it was so loud, with Goofy's sky school being right there, but as soon as you closed the door is was silent! :)

Disneyland hotel was beautiful! Loved the rooms and the headboard that lit up and played music was a big hit with my girls. We also had a massive window and had a perfect view of the fireworks at night! It was just a standard view room but we could see splash mountain and the matterhorn to our right.

I will say that I wish I had know that they started using DVC points for regular rooms at VGC on April 1st because it would have been easier just to stay at the one resort. But I'm not disappointed that we stayed at Disneyland because like I said it was beautiful and the kids enjoyed the pool there!

We loved Disneyland and I really stressed about crowds for nothing, since they had magic morning hours ever day of our stay and we got everything done before lunch time! Sad the matterhorn and cars land was not open but just gives us an excuse to plan another trip out there!

Thanks for the report! It's nice to know you can get a lot done in the morning with early entry every day.

Yes, the paths are much narrower than DW. We went several years back Thanksgiving week, and while the lines were not terribly long, it was crowded everywhere we walked.

Are most of the construction walls down in CA? We haven't been since September and they were everywhere - like a maze - and made it seem really crowded. I can't wait to get back!

The walls at DCA are still up..UGH! It did take away from the park and definitely felt like a maze. They had signs that said "the wait is over June 2012" though. So I'm sure once they come down it will be awesome!
