Back From The Pop-Won't Be Returning

We have stayed at ASMo, Poly POFQ, AKL and OKW and from what I remember, they all had the super flushers on the toilet. Is it just that the walls are thinner at POP? I remember being able to hear them at POFQ from the people around us, yet I never see people complain about them at those other resorts.

Also, can anyone point me to a place that can list the order of the bus stops at the parks? What was last before Pop opened? AsMo?

We stayed at Pop twice last year. Yes, the toilets are the 'super flushers'. However, I'm mystified when people talk about hearing all the plumbing from other rooms. We were on the third floor both times and I maybe heard someone else's toilet, barely, 3 times during both trips combined. And all three times it was when I was in the bathroom, I never heard anyone else's toilet or shower unless I was actually in the loo and if I'm up and in the bathroom then who cares if I can just make out the neighbor's toilet flushing? I don't know, I guess we just had good luck and thicker walls or something...

If I am remembering correctly, Pop is actually very close to both the MGM and AK entrances, not at the end at all. Epcot and MK are definitely last or close to last, but I think the other two are one of the first stops. I can't remember exactly though, hopefully someone can verify that...

::MickeyMo How do you like the All-Star Movies? What is the transportation like for the AS resorts? Thanks in advance! ::MinnieMo

We just came home today from ASMu, the buses were horrid. Since it is 3 resorts disney tends to combine all the resorts into one bus stop, your bus to MK may have already stopped at Sports and ASMu, so the bus is already packed when it gets to you. Oh, and wait till you take the bus from DD, all 3 resorts one bus. Made for some very long waits and standing room only for trips to and from the parks. Mind you, things can change as the summer season gets into full swing.

::MickeyMo I was thinking of AKL but one of my concerns: Can you smell the animals? Or is it not noticeable? I know it sounds like a weird question, but I can't help but wonder. ::MinnieMo

We did not notice anything unless we got up close to the viewing areas. We did not have a savannah view room, but we did stand out on balconies overlooking the savannah similiar to the private room balconies and it was not bad unless you were on the ground viewing area. :) Even then it was just a slight smell, nothing horrible.

where are the best rooms. quiet/ view of the lights from illuminations of epcot. or fireworks. First visit staying inside disney. Please help. Stitchyhappy.. :earsboy: :cool1: :earboy2: ::MickeyMo

i just stayed at pop may 11-16 and didnt have any of those problems..id rather stay at moderate, but were staying at pop again in sept

we stayed at the pop last dec going back this dec cant wait the only thing that was hard was 1 night we waited for a bus a long tome to get back but thats all i can say that was bad the rest was awesome taking my kids this year me and my best friend cant wait counting down :earsgirl:

I love Pop-- I've stayed there twice and will be returning this Christmas.

I've never had a problem there with crowds, noise, maid service, or bus transportation. In fact, the buses at Pop seem to be the quickest of any of the other resorts (and I've stayed just about everywhere).

As far as the proximity of the Pop bus stops to the front gate, well, that's just the little class system that Disney has at all its park bus stops. ;) The values are always the farthest away.

:earsboy:

We've stayed at two values...ASMo and Pop. Of the two, we definitely prefer ASMo. The customer service at Pop...well, it wasn't up to Disney standards...at least not for us.

We stayed at Pop last August. My DS loved it! I was not that taken with it, too big (our room was in the 80s), too loud, not so great bus service. I was so unhappy with it that if we were not with relatives I would have changed resorts during the trip. But it was very clean, the food court was good (as in my picky DS ate) and it was afterall, Disney. I said I wouldn't go back. Well, my DS and I were able to take a quick 3 day trip in May for his birthday and he picked Pop. Since it was only the 2 of us and only 3 days, I said OK. Well, the 2 trips were night and day! It wasn't too crowded and was not loud, bus service was great. I could not believe the difference in the two trips! That being said we leave for AKL next week! Which my DS also picked. We are more the deluxe/moderate type folks but I did enjoy Pop this past May. And I would consider it again but only for a short trip again. And definitely not during a busy time like the summer or holidays.

You know what I don't get? I don't get what people mean when they say "I am a deluxe (or moderate)-kinda gal/guy"...what does that mean?

Same here....aslong as the rooms are CLEAN and no bugs and such, then we are all about the value too. More Disney dollars to spend else where!!!!

sorry Pop wasn't for you but it felt like home for my family. We absolutely loved it. We have two children 10 & 2 and it is perfect for us. We can't wait for our next trip to Pop hopefully next June. Buses were great when we were there never waited more than 10-15 min leaving Pop for parks. Yes it is the last bus stop currently at parks but somebody has to be last. :earsgirl:

Does anyone else think they could launch the space shuttle with one toilet flush from a Disney Resort? Those things had to be designed by NASA!

I'm just curious (especially as DW and I are checking into AKL in ten days, and I've read quite a few toilet/plumbing noise complaints about that particular resort in the past), but we recently got a new toilet, and it's what they call a "pressure-assisted" toilet (as opposed to a gravity-assisted/old fashioned toilet, or a vaccuum-assisted toilet). Anyway, in the Consumer Reports article comparing and contrasting the different types of toilets, they mentioned that one of the drawbacks to a pressure-assisted model was noise.

Now, that did give us pause, but we decided to go ahead and get one, and I've gotta say, the noise is a complete non-issue. And our bedroom is right next to the bathroom.

So, what I'm wondering is if maybe Disney's notoriously noisey toilets are pressure-assisted toilets, and I'll be able to sleep through the 3000 flushes like the proverbial baby?

A couple of you have stated that you stayed at POP last Dec. Anyone there the week between Xmas and NY's. I booked POP yesterday for that week this year and would like some more info on how the bus service was and food court with the resort being full.

Last year we were lucky to stay at the CR (great overflow rate from SOG). We usually go in July so the crowds don't bother us, (we are at the parks before opening and usually call it a day about 2) but I was just wondering if we eat breakfast in the food court should we allow extra time in the morning due to the crowds. (We usually eat around 7)

Honestly for anyone who has concerns, if you are used to staying at your typical Holiday Inn or whatnot the values are comparable. Standard hotel room to me. Yes you can hear the toilets flush sometimes and the shower but no worse than your typical Holiday Inn and such.

We stayed at POP and had fun.

As for the bus stops being the furthest, it kind of goes along with you get what you pay for. Notice that the deluxes are closest to the park exits, followed by moderates followed by values. The more $$ you are willing to shell out the more perks :)

I thing is we were really looking forward to staying at the Pop and giving it a shot. The staff indeed was amazing (minus mousekeeping a few select times), especially the concierge.

Um, am I missing something :confused3 Pop doesn't have concierge. :confused3

Pop isn't my favorite either. I agree about the plumming. Our baby woke up every time someone flushed a toilet. We stayed at All-star Movies the other weekend. Our room was pleasantly quiet there. Had an over better experience there.
I have not tried POp ,but I have read a lot of treads about the plumming being loud at POP.
I did not have any problems with noise at the the ALL STARS.

Where else can you see Mickey or Donald at your pool?

Bus rides are shorter from the ALL Stars than POP according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses------------Pop buses
MK 20 min---------------MK 25 min
Epcot 10 min------------Epcot 20 min
MGM 10 min--------------MGM 15 min
AK 10 min----------------AK 15 min
DTD 15 min---------------DTD 20 min

Which is one the of the resons I  the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. :cloud9: I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy :flower: I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The themming is pure Disney. :earsboy: :earsgirl:
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit. I can hardly wait. :hourglass
When we pull up and I see those huge icon I know I'm at Disney :earboy2:

That's weird- I don't see how that could possibly be accurate. All Stars are much more isolated on property than Pop is. I've stayed at both and I thought the Pop bus rides were so much shorter! :confused3

With the All Star Busses I assume this is once all three all star resorts have been boarded. I'm wondering if it is the actual ride that is being measured: the distance between the all stars and MK, Epcot, MGM, etc.

I have timed the rides and it only takes 10 min to get to Epcot,MGM, and AK. It takes about 20 minutes to the MK.

It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's qwn bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP.

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

here are the distances accourding to http://www.wdwinfo.com/recreation/distancetoparks.htm

I don't know about the actual driving distace of the bus routes though.

ALL STARS: -------------POP

MK: 7 miles---------------MK 7 miles
Epcot: 4 miles------------3 miles
MGM : 2 miles-------------3 miles
AK: 3 miles---------------AK 5 miles

Guess I should not let everyone know how great the All Stars really are.

More rooms for my closest friends!

I have researched this.
