We are going to SSR for the first time in January. We requested the Springs section as first choice and the Grandstand as our second choice. How were the buses? Would love to see any pics you have of the resort.
we came back 2 weeks ago. We stayed at SSR, the Springs section. The busses were great, I think we only had one 15 minute wait, coming or going. A transportation CM was at our bus stop everyday tracking the busses and letting people know when the next bus should be by. We took boats to DTD or just walked to the West End side. I am watching a slide show right now of our photopass picures
Can you walk to DTD from there? Is it reasonable to walk back and forth to SSR's furthest building to/from DTD? Is it okay to walk back at night from Cirque?
Can you see any fireworks from any of the buildings?
They have several pools and a fun water area by the Grandstand pool for kids. There is also a very nicely done playground over at the Springs section along with Community Hall's daily activities.
It is just a boat ride away from DTD. We did not try to walk, but I'd imagine it is no longer than a 5-10 minutes walk.

From SSR's furthest bldg to DTD Cirque/Westside is quite a distance, definitely more than 10 minutes. I've ran the circle from SSR through DTD/West Side and it took me 25 minutes. I don't run real fast but the walk would definitely be a long one from the Paddock area.
From that area to the bridge alone that crosses over to the West side would be a good 15 minute walk. Then once you walk across the bridge and along the other side through the parking area of Cirque that's probably another 10-15 minutes. You can take the bus over to the Westside or walk to the boat dock, take the DTD boat and then the water taxi.
I wanted to add while we were there this past weekend there were bus monitors (CMs) at each bus stop in the morning monitoring the amount of time between buses to all the parks. They had extra buses parking in the Grandstand area ready to go if the wait got to be more than 15-20 minutes. Something I've never seen them do until this trip which really seem to make a difference. Bus transportation was much better this trip than previous ones we've had at SSR.
