Hi all ... We (dh, me, and our 8 year old) just came back from a cash weekend at OKW. We are new DVC members who bought at SSR, sight unseen. We also hadn't visited WDW since before 9/11 and have never stayed anywhere other than a moderate. We came up for the weekend as a precursor to our first trip as DVC members in August (at BWV)
We LOVED OKW! We had a first floor studio in building 51 which wasn't a great location but we loved it. The room did have a leak from the air conditioner in the ceiling but maintenance came within an hour and it got fixed. Otherwise the room was in excellent condition.
Transportation - It was fine. It was great to hop on any bus and get a ride up to the main building. And transportation to the parks was pretty timely. I think the longest wait we had was about 25 minutes at MGM.
Olivia's - We had a perfect lunch there one day. My daughter had a kid's hot dog. I had the soup/salad/sandwich combo and my husband had a club sandwich.
Castmembers - We were told "welcome home" a lot. And castmembers were so friendly. We couldn't believe it.
SSR - We finally met our guide Julie and were able to tour SSR. We were impressed. The pool is small though. But everything else looked great. And the views from the demo rooms were incredible. It looks to be a great resort.
We just can't wait to be back in WDW in a few weeks. It was the most relaxing weekend we've had in months.
