I was lucky enough this weekend to make a side trip to HH from Savannah. I took 95 which I know is longer but I didn't want to get lost and I dropped my friend off at a sportsbar to watch the Giant game so I didn't have unlimited time. I arrived at HH which you could miss if your not careful. I didn't see any signs for DVC so I called the front desk . They told me they were at mile marker 8 by the Diner. To drive straight back and I would see Neptunes statue and to go over the bridge. I found it and arrived around 2pm. I was stopped at the gate and a shuttle driver walked over to ask if they could help. I told them I was a DVC member from NY in Savannah on business for the weekend and I've never been to HH and wanted to check it out. They smiled and said welcome home, enjoy your stay. I smiled back and thanked them.I met Shadow and played with him (her?). Very friendly and cute. I walked around back and checked out the pool area. I got a burger and ate on the balcony over looking the marsh. It was a beautiful day. It seemed like a very relaxing family oriented place. Families were playing water volleyball and having a great time. A couple of people were getting ready to go on a kayac trip with a guide (sounds fun). I walked over to look at the marina. I walked around for about 10 more mins. I went to the front desk to ask if they had directions to Savannah. They did and they gave me fresh lemonade and homemade cranberry chip cookies for the ride. Very kind. As I was going to my car to leave the shuttle driver came over to me and said "I've been looking all over for you. I know you don't have much time but would you like to see the beach house and beach???"
I asked are you sure. I don't want to get anyone in trouble. I was assured it was alright and off we went. They told me all about the activites they have for kids and alittle about the area. The beach house is really lovely. The private beach is awesome. There were many families boogie boarding, kite flying and enjoying the beach.
There were a couple of families in the pool. Signals seems nice. And 4 men were watching football and eating snacks in the beach house. My guide showed me where a wedding had just taken place on the beach
Very nice. Unfortunately it was time to go. I barely scratched the surface but HH seems like a wonderful resort for families to relax and enjoy lots of time together. I would think this would be the perfect retreat to unwind at after a commando park vacation. Peaceful, serene and rejuvenating. I will definately return and spend some quality time with my family. And to my HH guide thanks for the pixie dust you made a Mom missing her little boys day.
