Just back from 6 nights at the Hawthorn Suites in Lake Buena Vista. We really liked this hotel. It was very clean and the staff was so friendly. We had a king suite with a pool view for $69 per night (Magic Card rate). The free breakfast each morning was good (usually scrambled eggs, tater tots, toast, doughnuts, muffins, fruit, cold cereals, etc.). We didn't cook any meals in the room, but did take advantage of the refrigerator and microwave for snacks and cold drinks. There is a Winn Dixie grocery store less than a mile away so we stocked up there. There are also a lot of restaurants within a mile or two (Chevys, Pizzaria Uno, Olive Garden, etc.).

The main reason we choose a suite was for our 14 month old daughter. We wanted a place where we could put her in bed for naps and early bedtimes and still be able to watch TV, etc. in the other room. The crib they provided was a pack-and-play. One night we got an actual pack-and-play crib sheet, but the other nights it was just a regular full size flat sheet. So if you are traveling with a younger baby and are worried about strangulation or suffocation, I would recommend you pack your own crib sheet.

Overall, I would definately recommend this hotel.

Hi Jillybean,

Sounds like you had a great time...thanks for the review. Palm Parkways has a nice selection of hotels. We stayed down a little further than you at the Residence Inn last year.

Where is the Winn Ddixie grocery store. It must be north of Palm Parkway (away from downtown disney).

Herc.

Hi Jillybean,
Hawthorn Suites in LBV sounds great. Do you think a King Suite is big enough for me and DH and our 22-month-old (in a PnP) plus my 20-year-old DS (who would stay on the sleeper sofa)? Did you use the sofa? Was it comfortable? We cannot afford to get 2 rooms and a Queen Suite would mean that my DS would have to share the bedroom with all of us. She will only be staying 2 nights--just passing through.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everybody!

Herc....
Yes, the Winn-Dixie is north of Palm Parkway. I think it's a fairly new store. It's probably about a 1/2 mile north. I agree with you about the hotels on Palm Parkway -- they all looked really nice. I think it's a great location.

Dawn...
We didn't use the sleeper sofa, but I'm sure the room would be big enough for all of you for 2 nights. I don't know when you are going, but I think the King suites are easier to get, since many people are traveling with older kids and are looking for 2 queens or doubles. You won't be dissapointed with this hotel. Have a great trip!

No, we didn't use the shuttle service, we took our rental car. If I'm not mistaken, there were 3 or 4 departure times in the morning, but no returns until around 6 p.m. or so. This wouldn't have worked well for us since we went back to the room every day after lunch so our daughter could nap. I don't know if their shuttle service varies depending on the time of year, so you might want to check it out with them.

Hi Jilly = been a very long time since i have heard about the Orlando magic card - can you give me more info please? Thanks. Caroline

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that Palm Parkway is a great location. We stayed a Comfort Inn LBV a few months ago. It was old, but suited our needs perfectly. I'd like to try Hawthorne Suites some time in the future, though.

I stayed at Hawthorn Suites LBV last month, and I enjoyed the place very much. I had a king suite, which was wonderful - everything was nice and clean. I loved the location as well - such a quick drive into Disney. And many restaurants nearby. The breakfast was a bit limited in my opinion (since the Hawthorn Suites at SeaWorld had a much larger selection!) but it certainly was fine. I always found a table at breakfast. The pool was good (though not real large) and the hot tub was relaxing!

I wouldn't mind staying there again! :)
