We arrived on, of course, Friday the 13th about 1/2 hr. before the parks were closed due to Charley. We stayed at CR for Fri/Sat. On Sunday we moved over to BWV. We got to registration about 1:00 or so. Thomas told us there was a room open but if we wanted to wait we could have one on the 5th floor with a view of the fireworks. Sure, we'll wait. So, over to Epcot we went. Man, was it hot/humid. Stayed for about 2 hrs and returned to BWV. Room still not ready but there was no way I was going back outside!! So, we waited in the lobby until 3:30, when our room opened up. Was it worth the wait?? Oh yeah!!! Room 5063, overlooked the village green, over Muscles and Bustles. A great studio, with the little daybed and no connecting door. Heaven. And a 30 second walk from the elevator!! At night, we stood on the balcony and watched both the high up fireworks from IllumiNations and the ones from MK's Wishes!!! Life just doesn't get much better. There was a huge water leak in the ceiling in the hallway by Muscles/Bustles. Got really musty smelling but they were trying to fix it. And that could have been due to Charley.
The pool was terrific. Never was too terribly crowded. Dd, 10, liked it better than the pool at the Polynesian!!!
As far as transportation goes...I have to say that being able to walk to MGM and Epcot was terrific. We did share a bus with Y/BC once or twice. But not overly too much. We did get pretty tired of having to stop at Swan and Dolphin tho. But, other than that the buses weren't as bad as I was expecting.
We did buy a refillable mug at the Bakery but only used it the one time. Just wasn't as big a deal as other resorts.
All in all, we had a great time. Loved BWV's. The nightlife, when it wasn't raining, was wonderful!!! My dh did wake up this morning and tell me that he sort of missed the Flying Fish sign flashing in his face at night!!!!

Glad you had a great trip. I always love to read reviews of my favorite place in the "world".

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a blast.

Yes, we got to do it. We had it booked for Monday so AK was open by then. A lot of the trees were in sad shape tho. We still really enjoy this meal. The other meal that was impacted was HDDR. We had booked this one about 7 months before we left. Well, thanks to Charley we got cancelled and when we rebooked it for Tuesday night, we ended up in the balcony. But still liked it. Now, off to call MS to try to find a one bedroom for Thanksgiving. Like that's gonna happen!!!

I'm glad you had such a great view and a nice time!

Pixie dust for your Thanksgiving trip!

Thanks for the report!!!

I am SO curious, you mentioned the Polynesian; how does that compare to BWV? DH and I were thinking of slipping away for a night or two there on our actual anniversary date when we bring the whole family in 2007. (it will be only our 8th anniversary, but we're not going crazy with our fifth so we don't feel bad about doing something like this for this one)

We wanted a place that would be exotic and romantic, but still on property and within a short taxi ride if our kiddo really misses us. She'll be with my Mom back at BWV.

So what do you think? Would you recommend the Polynesian for that sort of a quick stay, and if so, what would you recommend as far as things not to be missed, ect.?

Many thanks ~
Adrienne

Hi Adrienne. We stayed at the Polynesian last summer for a week and really enjoyed it. I would say that it would be very romantic for a 'get-a-way'. If you don't mind the cost, I would suggest a lagoon view. Tahiti is a great longhouse for that. We loved Kona
Cafe. Great breakfast. It's really nice to be able to hop on the monorail or take the short path over to TTC and catch the Epcot monorail. If you're going to be in that area, you could check out the Grand Floridian for restaurants. I hear they are pretty nice.

And Bobbi...we already have a studio at VWL booked for 11/25-12/1....I'm just being greedy in hoping for a one bedroom. I guess I can 'make do' with a studio if I have to!!!

Interesting.

When we were there in late May, one day they had emptied out the room in front of the elevators. (Right by Muscles/bustles.) Everything was sitting in the hall. The CMs said there was a problem. I didn't press them, but assumed there was a leak of some kind.
