We made our first trip home 7/24 - 7/30 to BCV in a two bedroom. We also got a studio at BWV for the same time period for my aunt and two cousins. Well, we didn't arrive until around 4pm, so when we checked into BCV our room was ready. We got a dedicated two bedroom with a woods view. You could see the swan at the Swan and Dolphin straight ahead and to the left there was a clear view of the Eiffel tower. Really beautiful and quiet. We were at the crease of the Y or whatever letter it's supposed to be.
When I walked into the room the carpet was wet. I don't mean like damp, it was wet. I called down to the front desk and they said they'd bring a fan into the room, they ended up with two fans. The maintenance person came back to check periodically to see how it was drying, but I think after his shift they forgot about it and left the fans there until the next night. In fact I just called down to the front desk to tell them that I was putting it outside because I got tired of tripping over them. I didn't mind too much though, because I ended up burning some bacon and it helped blow the burnt smell out of the room. We found that the electrical outlet next to the bed in the master bdrm didn't work, so the lamp and alarm clock wasn't working either. We ended up moving the alarm clock to the other side of the room. The door lock to the toilet was broken. The hair dryer system was coming out of the wall. When you first come into the foyer of the room, the lightbulb was out and so was the one in the 2nd bedroom above the bed. The door to the bathroom in the second bathroom wouldn't close. We also had a slow drain which was ankle deep by the end of your shower. At least the shower curtain was new. Oh, the dishwasher bottom rack was broken, the wheels kept falling off so you couldn't really roll out the rack.

Other than those things, there was nothing wrong with the room. I called the front desk, but nothing was done. I wasn't going to let these things bother me. It was a vacation that I had been waiting for some time. My parents had never really vacationed, so it was their first vacation and our first real family vacation. I wasn't going to let those things ruin my day or stay. I just hope that those things are fixed and things are maintained a little better for my next stay.

I checked into studio room 3064 at BWV right after I checked into BCV. It was a King (?) bed with a pull out couch. It was a short walk from the elevator to the room. The view was of a tree, I think the pool was behind it, was a nice balcony though. I had wanted two beds though since it was my two cousins and an aunt driving in from La. I wanted them to have beds. Well, went to the front to check to see if I could possibly switch. Nick at the front desk told me that it would be an upgrade to two beds. He told me that I would have to use more points. Now, this is my first trip, but I didn't think that was the case. I had a regular preferred view, not standard. Then I told him that I would go ahead and pay or use more points, it was at the point that he told me there were no more rooms that he could move them to because they were over sold. Well, my mantra for this trip was I was going to have a good time and not be stressed at all. I just said thank you and walked away. Like my friend says, I'm too blessed to be stressed--especially on vacation.

Those were minor things in the scheme of things for me. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back next December. My dad said he had a great time even without golfing! I was just so relaxed I didn't grind my teeth in my sleep at all!!! It was just wonderful. We went swimming at SAB just about every day. The only thing I missed was the kitchen sink!!! We'll do it next time. For the span of about three days it rained every day at around 4pm. We got stuck at the Premium outlet one day. Luckily there was the overhang part when it downpoured. We were there during tax free week, so there were plenty of other people squeezed under those awnings. Wouldn't you know it was the one time that I didn't have the rain parkas in my back pack. I wanted to be cute that day so I carried my purse!! DD had hers on hand though. The walkie talkies came in handy every where we went. I loved them. We got the 4 disney ones when they went on clearance at Target.

We did 2 days at Universal and 1 at Epcot. We went out early and got back early. The Mummy ride was da bomb!!! I wish the ride was longer. We did EE at Epcot. What the heck... We got there early, like the guide books say. It was a 30 minute wait by the time we got to TT at 810am. The kept having technical difficulties so I guess our 30 minute wait was probably more to 45 minutes. We only got to ride it once then went to MS, for our fast pass. After that, we just wandered over to the Land, then to the countries.

Not sure what Nick was offering you, maybe a switch to the inn? All studios at BWV are a bed and sleeper sofa, you would have to go to OKW for 2 beds.

Sorry you had so many room issues, glad you didn't let it bother you. BTW, was the 2nd bedroom at BCV 1 bed or 2?

Thanks for the info about the bed and sofa. I never knew that. Pretty interesting. If the sofa bed is as "comfortable" as the one at the BCV then I feel for which ever one of my cousins slept on it. As for the 2nd bedroom, it had two beds. We loved it. I hope that we get a room like that again.

The sofas appear to be hit or miss. Slept on one at OKW and was fine. Slept on one at BW and literally voted for the floor the next night instead. There was a report a while back that some of the matresses were going and people were calling housekeeping for replacements.

I would rather have a bad bed at Disney than a good bed at home thought
:smooth:

Another bad story about BCV!!I must ask what is going on over there? They gave a room to someone that had a wet floor and needed fans? You people that are members better do something about this situation. That is a $920 per night room and they give you a room with fans?? I have to tell you I find this situation beyond believe!!

Pa@okw95... What I find beyond belief is that whenever anyone posts anything at all about BCV, you make it sound so much worse than it really is. We get it, you don't like BCV, that is fine! To each his own! But it is really getting old!

Goofyzgurl.... the plug that the clock was plugged into (to the left of the bed, I beleive) has one of those protector buttons on it like you normally find in a bathroom, you just need to push the middle button to reset it. The one on the other side of the bed works off the switch when you walk in the room.

You mentioned that this was your first DVC stay, so I just wanted to make sure that you know that the outlet next to the bed in the master bedroom (the one nearest the bathroom) is controlled by a switch on the wall as you enter the bedroom area.

Maybe you already knew this and tried it, but if not it's possible that the outlet was working fine and the switch was off.

Thanks for reporting your information....to me, the good and the bad are both helpful to know. And I'm glad you didn't let anything keep you from having a great vacation! :)

I tried the switch when you first come into the room, but that didn't work either. When we moved into our house last year one of the plugs works just like that. I had thought that plug in wasn't working either. I was like, darn it, just another thing to call to get fixed. Well, low and behold, dd came in and said mommy, you just flick this switch. :teeth: So I drew from my experience with that, sometimes it takes a child....I did look at the fuse box and thought, mmm....which switch to flick....Then I thought to myself, electrical switch...vacation....electricution....no vacation...and the light bulb went off :sunny: I really don't need no stinkin' light or alarm clock:crazy:

I forgot to mention I saw that alligator!!!! Even took some photos of it. He must have just eaten because he was a fat little thing, okay, big thing.

It is not BCV that I don't like, sorry but it is important that people realize the problems that are going on there could happen anywhere especially at another DVC location. Did you read the other post about BCV that is here today!! Are you in some kind of denial?? What is your problem-can't you just address the problems or do you have to make them a personal attack?

Thanks for the report. Sorry you had so many problems with the room. Glad you were able to not let it ruin your trip!

Glad to hear that you didn't let some things ruin your trip. While some of them make me sit up and say - gee, they should have moved you to a new room (wet carpet) - others are a fact of life and easily missed by housekeeping that doesn't turn on all the lights.

What I don't understand is why members before you didn't report those things and get them fixed! I call everyday until they are fixed, but like you, I don't let them ruin my trip.

Last trip at BCV, everything was taken care of immediately (chair missing from deck, broken iron, lightbulbs, only 3 sets of towels) I never had to ask twice. I would rather deal with these things any day than a nasty CM.

I do hope you will write and tell DVC about these things, though. they need to know.
