back from 8/24 Eastern - Fabulous!!

We are taking this cruise in June 2003. What excursions did you take. We have two teenagers (18 & 15) and I was wondering what most 18 year olds do on this cruise. What was your dining order and did you eat at Palos? I would love to hear all about it--every detail!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

What stateroom were you in? How did you like it?
Did you do much shopping?

Glad to hear you had a wonderful trip. We'll be on the Eastern
2-8-03!!

I was wondering if you went to any casinos while in St. Maarten? If so, how long of a cab ride was it and what could we expect it to cost?

We were 2 families of 4 (total of 4 kids 8, 10, 10, 12). We had the second seating - when boarding we looked at our tickets and realized we did not have the same rotation, ugh! Luckily they fixed it for us although our table location was never very nice. We had APL which was okay. However, our servers were excellent! We could not have asked for better service or nicer guys!

We ate at Palo and loved it. The food was excellent and the chocolate souffle was the best thing on the ship! Reserve for 6:00 and get there a few minutes early to insure you get a window seat!

We did beaches & snorkeling on our own. We had bought equipment before we left home so we grabbed a van in St. Maarten & went to Dawn Beach. We rented a van in St. Thomas and went to Coki Beach (good snorkeling) and Megan's Beach - beautiful! We also stopped at Bluebeard's Castle - found a great spot for taking pictures of the ship. We never went to an casinos but did do some shopping in St. Thomas. My daughter had to have something frome every island.

We were in stateroom 6038! It was fabulous although the ship backed in at all three stops so we never had the great view. I totally recommend the verandah! It was great to go out there before everyone else woke up. There is a light switch by the ropes that tie back the verandah curtins. It took me about 3 days to find it!

I am still depressed to be home... 3 weeks ago today I was at the adult pool... a great place on the ship. It had the cleanest water (obviously) but also was the best temperature (Goofy water was hot). I want to go back!!!!!!!!!

I am depressed as well...........

Hello Diamond_Girls....DW, DS (11), DD (7) and I are cruising the eastern 9/21 (almost there!)...and I have a few questions....I see that you visited both Coki and Megan's beaches on your own...we intend to rent a vehicle and do something similiar, but DW wants time to shoping (2 hours min)...in your opinion, should we plan on one beach and shopping or do you feel that we would have time for all three?....also, your children are of similiar age to my oldest...what did they enjoy doing the most (aboard ship)....and finally, I thought that my DS (11) may enjoy emailing your children to ask a few questions about the trip, but wouldn't do so without your permission....thanks for the trip info, gary

Hi Gary!

You are so lucky to be going, I wish I was!

If you get off the ship early you can do 2 beaches & shopping! We did shop at the shops right off the boat, however, if you plan on going somewhere else, then that could add a little bit of time. We stayed at Coki Beach about 3 hours & Megan's Bay about 2 and then shopped for about an hour. Got back to the ship in plenty of time!

My daughters both joined the kids club and were able to sign themselves in and out. That way they could go whenever they wanted or when they knew something was going on that they wanted to be in on. They carried the 2-way radios and knew they had to contact DH or me when they moved from place to place (lab to room, room to restuarant, etc). It worked out really well. I had quizzed them before the cruise so they knew the directions of the lab, pools, Sccops, and room location (as well as room number).

They especially enjoyed room service. I kept a wad of dollar bills by the door so they could tip. Youngest daughter loved Scoops and went 2-3 times a day.

They also loved the Studio Sea and went there every night - Kareoke (they just listened, didn't sign up to sing), Family Dance Party, and the game shows. They also never missed an evening show in the Walt Disney Theatre. Finally, they enjoyed seeing some of the movies in the afternoons.

Emailing is no problem - Bolin1@prodigy.net, however, we don't log in to email every day. However, I'll make a point to in the next few days!

Have a wonderful trip and if you see Ian (you can't miss him, he is one of the cruise staff and is always around and is quite a fun guy from England) tell him there is a girl in Ohio who misses him desperatly (10 year old got a huge crush on him while on board). Wish I was going with you!

I'm trying to talk my dh into doing the Eastern cruise. He's never cruised at all because he is concerned that he will be bored. Help me reassure him that there is too much to do onboard for him to be bored :)
