In the car by 0745 and home by 1630, we have the last load of laundry in the wash. Ducky Williams was on our cruise. We were back on the ship and had it mostly to ourselves by 1230 on Friday. Seas were pretty rough on Sunday and even worse on Monday at about 20-30 feet as we were buffeted by what would become Olga way to the south of us.

Any Questions?

What was the immigration procedure? Were passports scanned? Did you have a 6 am immigration call at St Thomas?

Our time for immigration at St. Thomas was at 7:45. It was a quick line up and a cursory look at our passports. It was really quite pointless.

Our passports at Canaveral were scanned when we arrived this morning. We bought more than our allowance of alcohol but declared it and paid no duty for it.

Darn..I was hoping that the trial immigration procedure would mean the grandkids could sleep in. For me,that's a good enough reason to drop St Maarten from the schedule!

You have to present to customs whether or not you get off the ship in St Thomas, right?

Yes you do.

There was a first for us on this cruise. The ship had started to pull away from St. Thomas and was about 10-20 feet away from the pier and actually went back and on walked two passengers.

Not sure about that. I know some people came up to him at the end of his talks with things to be signed. I don't remember seeing it in the Navigator but could have missed it.

Were there stage show matinees on sea days?

Woody

Yes. However due to the seas, they moved Twice Charmed to our day at St. Maarten and as such canceled the matinee.

There were matinees of the Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams but not of Twice Charmed (no TC matinee on the 12/1 the week before either). TC was scheduled for Monday, our second day at sea. Well, we had 20-30 foot season Monday so they ended up showing the movie (Enchanted) that night instead. They ran Twice Charmed on Tuesday, St. Maarten Day, instead and had the Pirate Party that night as well.

For those coming on on the 15th, we saw a bunch of poinsettas being loaded onto the ship after we docked at PC.

Honestly we did not have that good of a time. DH had the worst steak he had ever eaten at Animator's and we ordered a plate of nothing for our daughter and this is how it came out:

It was great fun seeing Ducky on board and our DD's face every time another character rounded the corner. However, never have we wanted to get off the ship like we did on this cruise.

We were docked next to Liberty of the Seas in St. Maarten and we both looked at each other and wished we were getting on that ship instead. We talked to others who agreed that they did not feel pampered. And we talked to others who completely loved the cruise and had booked another one right away. So different strokes for different folks.

Just curious what did you not like about the cruise? We have always felt well taken care of on Disney unlike RCL.

Is it my imagination or did they spell 'nothing' wrong. :)

oh after sailing on The Freedom of the Seas, I can't wait to sail the Liberty of the Seas. :) :thumbsup2

There were some gems like the fireworks at sea was pretty cool, the production shows were fantastic, and the first time I liked hearing the DCL horn. That being said:

We maybe had unrealistic expectations of this cruise, but very few things exceeded our expectations and in fact fell short on those expectations. We expected to be pampered like on other lines and never felt that way on DCL.

We also were in our first inside cabin for this cruise due to a mixup with our travel agent. NEVER AGAIN

I think it comes down to how much Disney charges people for their cruises...we were on the 12/8 eastern and couldn't believe how much we had paid. You can spend thousands less per family and sail on MUCH nicer ships on other lines with way better food. Topsiders was practically inedible when we'd visit for breakfast or lunch. The only REALLY nice thing we found on the Magic was the spa.

did Ducky have a litho and/or signing session?

Ducky had 3 Seminars were he told his story on how he started in Disney.. The whol time he spoke he sketched characters.. at the end he did a Raffle and signed each one and raffled them off..

Then at one of the Art Auction days, he was present and gave a speech about each of the 6 Signed lithographs.. He left.. Then the bidding began..

We were told that if we wanted something signed or an autograph, he does not object..

He signed my scrapbook I brought :goodvibes
