Exit the Florida Turnpike at Osceola Parkway.
Go west on Osceola for about 10 miles and watch for Disney signs.

Exit 267 of the turnpike puts you on ST 429 (toll). Head South to Exit 8. Less than 1/2 mile after exiting you will pass through the Western Way Gate, which runs into Buena Vista Drive with Blizzard Beach (also AK, AKL and All-Stars) to your right and Coronado Springs (and everything else) on your left.

This is from the South, and definitely is not the back way.

YOu can take the Winter Garden exit, (I can't remember which one it is, it's in our old GPS), it takes you through some neighborhoods by Windermere, and you come in behind Space Mountain by the monorail barn. Unfortunately, I an remember how to drive it but have no clue what the road names, exit numbers, etc are. It shave a good 30-45 minutes off our drive.

Pop is right off of Osceola Parkway. Remember it is a toll road. I hate how commercial it has become, I remember when there was only 2 traffic lights, soon it will be like 192.

If you are referring to heading south on the turnpike, you would go to exit 267A (Western Express) heading south go to Western Way (this will bring you between CSR and All Stars. Turn right (Buena Vista Dr) after you go under the overpass turn right, this will bring you out to Osceola Parkway heading east. Pop is on the NE corner of Victory Way and Osceola Parkway.

I've driven back by those roads,Reams rd is one that comes to mind that is back there behind Magic Kingdom.I wouldn't suggest these roads to someone not familiar with the area, even with GPS it's possible to make a wrong turn.

From the turnpike going south, take the exit for Winter Garden/Clermont, stay to the left then left onto 50 east

make a right on Daniels Road by the Burger King (The bridge over the turnpike on 535 has been closed for construction for a year now...)

Daniels turns into 535 going south

Just past Summerport, stay straight where 535 goes off to the left and Publix is on your right. About a mile from Publix is a curve to the right, stay to the right don't go straight

If you pass Independence on the right, you aren't lost...

At the fork in the road, stay to the left into the S-curve and then you are on Reams Road

Follow that for a couple miles and you'll come up on the "back entrance" to WDW! You'll see a big parking lot on the right and then Disney U after you make the right turn.

As you get to the second light, (the train/mono barn is on the left) make a left to the Contemp or the Campgrounds, and a right to the GF, the Poly, EPCOT and everything else.

I got onto mapquest and put in the address to Port Orleans Riverside and it took us the back way. It was really easy to find however it took us into the back of the resort, no joke. :eek:We actually went past a Disney construction company, and we went up a little further and it has us turning into the service entrance to our resort. :rotfl2: We had to turn around and go down a little further to get to the main entrance.

It was great going this way to avoid all of the traffic, however it was NOT MAGICAL!:sad2: We did not go under the "Welcome to Walt Disney World" sign and we were all disappointed, but we made it to disney and all was well.

My DH, the short cut loving man that he is, LOVED the way that we came and we went home the same way. I just felt like I started my trip backwards, but it all worked out.:rotfl:

Yeah no magic going Reams Road, but the look on my girls faces (and mine) when we passed the storage facility for all of the Christmas decorations (door was open) was great!

This thread is confusing....if you are coming from the NORTH and getting onto the turnpike from I-75 then the above directions are the ones you want! We take this way every trip now. 429 is a quiet highway and you will enter WDW just as described above...and you WILL go under the "welcome arch". You'll come to a T-road(Buena Vista Dr), and there will be the familiar purple signs guiding your way. This is our favorite way into WDW now. :goodvibes

If you are exiting the turnpike at Clermont/50 and going to Daniels to 535 then you are going too far.

From 50 (now heading east) take 545 south. That will bring you to the entrance of 429 if you choose, or to 192 if you don't choose. :D

If you are coming from the north, the very best, most direct, easiest route is to take the 429 exit from the turnpike down to the WDW (well marked) exit sign (Western Way). It will bring you out right near Coronado Springs.

If you are coming from the south, then you would of course, so the Osceola Parkway bit, or the I4 exit (west).

The back way from ,say, Florida's Turnpike, onto Western Beltway to Western Way aka onto 429 south to Hartzog Road exit and east, is only useful for folks coming from due north or from the northwest.

For all other folks some other route (which you are probably already familiar with) is shorter and quicker.

Hey folks,

The OP, who posted the question, seems to be living in Alabama. My guess is that somewhere along the way he will be on I-10 East to I-75 South to the Turnpike heding South. Therefore he will be coming from the North and will be looking for the most direct route. So following SR-429 (Western Expressway) to Exit 8 is the fastest route.

YES, this is the most direct way if you are coming from the north and heading south on the turnpike. It is a toll road, but super fast compared to taking turnpaike to I-4.

As of a year agoish Disney's website still had you take turnpike to I-4- not sure if still the case. I am pretty sure there is some logistical concerns if EVERYBODY that is coming from the turnpike takes the Western Expressway. You would have a ton of cars coming into a 2 lane road- no matter where in Dsiney World they want to go . As opposed to I-4 where people have 4 or 5 exits to choose from. Therfore spreading out traffic.

The turnpike to 429 is the fastest way coming from the north. You get off the turnpike 8 miles before I-4. You avoid a toll at I-4 and pay one here, so the difference is less than a dollar and you cut 15-20 minutes if I-4 is empty and more if it is backed up.
We saw 2 cop cars with people pulled over once we got on Disney property and I have read on the boards here of it happening often, so watch speed limits.

The way that Cheshire Figment mentioned (429 to Western) bring you in through the west side of Disney. It also represents a dog-leg route that adds miles and tolls. Even when I'm going to AK I don't take that route. Yeah, probably easier to tell someone how to get to property.

Since the MK opened, coming in from Reams Road has always been the "back way", the cast parking areas and all the shops are "back" there! Plus, if you time it right going home, you can see a train backing up into the "round-house", and for some reason, I've always liked that!

Ha ha ha!! Great thread. No hope for us tho. Been 3 times in the last 18mths & have missed a turn every time. We even have a joke that Disney moves around some of the landmarks we try to go by. (Hess stations, fire dept). Hoping for better luck for trip #4 in November.

Actually the back entrance of the MK has a sign posted saying that route is for Disney Employees only. They dont have a guard to stop people but it definately is not a magical entrance.

From msn directions:
You will be on FL turnpike 40 miles
Exit 267A SR429 towards Tampa for 14 miles
Exit 8 Western Way/Walt Disney world

Hope you find it this time!!!!
