Baby Swap?

We will have 2 children with us this trip that can't ride the rides with height requirements and so need to know how the whole baby swap thing works. Also, do all the rides with height requirements offer it?

All rides with height requirements offer it, but the procedure differs from ride to ride. Sometimes the second rider will go through the exit, sometimes the FastPass line, and sometimes you'll go in together and split up after the preshow. Just ask the CM at the entrance for instructions, and they'll let you know what to do.

Just go up to the CM at the entry to the ride and tell them you need to do a baby swap. We traveled last November, and one of our children was not tall enough for the "big rides". Many rides are different as to exactly where you wait, but the process is essentially the same. One parent (and any other family members who are riding) enters the line (we used the fast pass system and so always went in the fast pass line, but certainly you can use the stand-by line) and tells the CM they need to do a baby swap. The CM will give you a little piece of paper and writes something on it, which you keep until the end of the ride. The other parent waits in the designated location. First parent rides with family and then meets with second parent (who's been waiting with little one). Second parent then takes that little piece of paper back to the CM who is at the entrance to the fastpass or stand-by line, and the second parent is allowed to take up to two more members of the family. Go right back up to the front of the line. This was great, because my bigger kids could then ride the attraction immediately again.

At BTMR, the second parent (with child) waits at the entrance of the ride, but on Primeval Whirl, the second parent (with child) waits in a fenced in area within the attraction. So it really depends on the ride.

This baby swap thing sounds great but I have another question about it.

My son is autistic and I know I can get a GAP to utilize if I have to. I don't know that we'll use too much, we are going the first week in December and hopefully the lines won't be long anyway. But my question is this....My son is 11 years old and will not ride any big rides or scary rides. So will we be able to do the baby swap with him even though he's not a baby? This way DH and DD and me will get to ride everything without having to wait twice as long.

I do not know the answer to that one for certain. But Disney is very accomodating, and I would just ask. I don't see why they wouldn't do it for your special circumstance.

The vernacular is "Rider Switch Pass" and may be applied to a wide range of situations. Speak to the Cast Member at the entrance of the attraction. Based on the situation and operating constraints, you will be instructed what to do.

Since we are on the topic.....In October we are going w/ several family members. The general consensus will be 7 people who can and will ride most anything and 1 baby. Will we be able to do the baby swap as follows:

Can lets say 5 of the people from our group do like Test Track and then swap the baby and let the other 2 go? In that situation the original 5 would not be riding again-- we'd like to not have to have the person who stays with the baby have to ride the rides as a single rider. We also don't want to spend all day waiting for us to get through lines twice.

Any insight would be great.
